Ninjas & Robots Team Up, Nothing Good Can Come Of This
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 12th of August 2010 - 06:11 PM ]
Instead of facing off in a bloody, futuristic main event, like they should have, 2K Games and Gearbox are teaming up to show their post-apocalyptic supremacy over everything. At least that is the premise behind the new DLC for Borderlands - Claptrap's New Robot Revolution. Wait, you didn't know there is some new DLC rolling out for Borderlands? Well consider this a nice little daily double, even though it is all wrapped into one package. /MindBlown I'll give you a moment to collect your thoughts again. Read More...

SOE Fan Faire Hands On: Magic: The Gathering - Tactics
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 11th of August 2010 - 09:36 PM ]
While wandering about the show floor of SOE's Fan Faire, I stumbled upon something I have not had a good look at in almost a decade: Magic: The Gathering. You know, that collectible trading card game that was all the rage back in the early to mid-90's. Well, at least it was all the rage in the circles I rolled in. It had been such a long time since I had any solid contact with this franchise. I knew there have been umpteen expansions for the card game as well as a few PC games released around the franchise, but it wasn't until I got a good look at Magic: The Gathering - Tactics that I felt myself being pulled back into the universe. Comic Con 2010: The Sights And Sounds
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 6th of August 2010 - 10:36 PM ]
Now that Comic Con 2010 is a thing of the not too distant past, let's take a moment to reflect back on everything that happened there. Or at least everything that myself and the AggroGamer crew got to see and experience there - albeit with a caveat. That caveat being that I am only going to place the pics and videos of the fan stuff. So don't expect to see skimpy cos-play below. What you will see is some of the stuff for Thor - both video game and film, some of the filming set for The Walking Dead, randomness from around the show floor and a butt load from Tron. Read More...

Minerva's Den Is Where All The Cool DLC Was Hidden
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 6th of August 2010 - 06:08 PM ]
Just when you thought that maybe there was nothing left to be done in BioShock 2 another DLC pack is sent our way. First it was more multiplayer. Then it was more "single" player in the form of harvesting challenges. Let's see what 2K Game is going to try and milk us for this time. Most likely more map packs for a multiplayer mode that is getting a little on the light side. *[Insert Press Release Opening Noises]* Oh, well isn't this interesting? New DLC that is all about expanding the best part of the game, THE STORY. Read More...

Comic Con Hands On: Dead Space 2
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 3rd of August 2010 - 09:54 PM ]
It has been only a little over a month after we first brought you our thoughts on Dead Space 2 from E3. So what new can we bring you about DS2 that we haven't already talked about? Well, actually getting to take the reins of the demo they showed in the back rooms at E3 for one. If you have seen the game play from E3, then you know exactly what part of the game we got to look at behind curtains at Comic Con. Only this time we didn't have to rely on the game designers to tell us how great the new controls for Dead Space 2 are going to be. I can attest that they are just as tight and awesome as previously described. Read More...

Blizzard Sells Out Again
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 3rd of August 2010 - 06:11 PM ]
Did you hear that? That was the sound of records breaking in the distance, players from around the world cheering and crying as one of the most anticipated games in the past decade was released. I'm talking about StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, which was released on PC and Mac on July 27th 2010. "GameStop had more than 3,000 stores open at midnight, so our StarCraft players got a jump start on playing the epic experience Blizzard consistently delivers with its games," said Bob McKenzie, senior vice president of merchandising at GameStop. "StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is officially GameStop’s fastest-selling PC game since Blizzard launched World of Warcraft®: Wrath of the Lich King® in 2008." StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty on launch day, sold over 1 million copies and over 1. Read More...

Comic Con Day 4: The Final Let Down
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 30th of July 2010 - 05:29 PM ]
Ah, Day Four. It usually is the most depressing day of the entire convention. The day to look back and remember how great the con was, as well as to mourn the fact that you have to make the journey home and wait another year. It is also the same day that one can usually wander and find all of those people who were talking the days before in panels and have some kind of in-depth conversation as most don't know who they are without the place cards of the panels. Well unlike before, it seems that all those who mattered and not the flesh craved PR of the companies had the bright idea of going home a day early. Maybe the stabbing scared them off. Read More...

Starcraft II - The Lost Viking
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 28th of July 2010 - 06:13 PM ]
Starcraft II was released yesterday and to most players surprise we got two games for the price of one. By accessing an arcade in the cantina of the Hyperion, players are able to play an Asteroids like shooter called "Lost Viking". In homage to the classic Blizzard SNES 1994 title The Lost Vikings. Dear Blizzard, how are we supposed to complete one of the longest waited for titles to date, when you keep putting addicting mini-games in to keep us distracted? So picture this, you play a mighty Viking and are flying through outer space trying to find your way home to Vikingville. All while being chased by the evil Terra-Tron "HE DOES NOT LIKE YOU!!! Street Fighter X Tekken, What More Do You Want?
by Binh Nguyen [ Tuesday, 27th of July 2010 - 08:40 PM ]
So what do you get when you take two completely different universes and mash them together into one game? No, I am not talking about Marvel vs. Capcom or Super Smash Bros. I am talking about probably one of the biggest mash up to date. At Comic-Con Capcom and Namco have come out to announce Street Fighter X Tekken. This new fighter will utilize the same technology that has been used for Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV where we will get to see Tekken characters like Kazuya Mishima and Nina Williams will make the jump into the new universe being re-imagined using the art style of Street Fighter IV. Oh don't worry, they will still look and feel like Tekken characters we all love. Read More...

Blizzard Suspending Use Of Real Names In Their Forums
by Brian Goodman [ Monday, 12th of July 2010 - 04:21 PM ]
A heated debate has been going on in the Blizzard community lately over a new concept called Real ID. Blizzard understandably annoyed with the sheer volume of trolling and flaming going on in their forums, originally decided to require real names with forum posts. After a community uproar, they have resolved to postpone the use of real names. I clearly am proof of using your real name online will not prevent someone from spewing vitriol and being an internet troll (just read any post I've written about Nintendo). Instead of enacting an instant update Blizzard will still be phasing in its use of the RealID system, just not until Starcraft II and subsequently World of Warcraft: Cataclysm crawl out of our dreams and into our local game retailer's shelves. Review: Crackdown 2
by Brian Goodman [ Wednesday, 7th of July 2010 - 01:47 PM ]
Okay so quick question to you before I really get started. If you lived in a city where half the population were zombies and the other half were juvenile radical activists, would you move away? What if you had "peacekeepers" tearing through the city, killing everything, and acting like they were controlled by someone who spends a good amount of their life playing games that ingrain in their head that they can do whatever they want without consequence? Would you really want to raise a family there? I can't imagine the school districts in Pacific City being all that nice. Read More...

Aperture Science Has Ramped Up The Tests
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Sunday, 4th of July 2010 - 06:17 PM ]
I remember way back when I first cracked open my copy of Portal on my PC. Yes I cracked open a copy of a digital download, because it fits my nostalgia. I remember enjoying each level of the game that lead up to the big showdown with GLaDOS and finding out that the cake was indeed not a lie. I got a piece when I was done and it was delicious and easy to wash down. I also remember how much fun it was that the whole game was kept simple and each level was pretty much a tutorial leading up to the final showdown. If you disagree, then you have not truly played Portal. Read More...

Heading Back Into Rapture With New BioShock 2 Single Player DLC
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 1st of July 2010 - 10:34 PM ]
After waiting for more of Rapture and BioShock to be announced at E3 in the form of BioShock 3 or a BioShock MMO. I was dubiously let down in my search for that. But at least I found a Big Daddy and a Little Sister there. That and 2K Games just announced some upcoming DLC that adds onto the single player mode of the game. Awesomely Epic. Here is what we will be getting for $4. Read More...

E3 2010 Hands On: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
by Binh Nguyen [ Monday, 28th of June 2010 - 04:31 PM ]
At E3 2009 Konami showed a trailer, for the first time, for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. Needless to say, it took nearly everyone by surprised. A year later Konami showcased the game with a playable demo. I wasn't able to play the full length of the game but I still played long enough to talk about what I played. The demo started off in the rainy village, where Gabriel has come to find leads about the whereabouts of a powerful unnamed entity. As Gabriel rides up on his horse he is sees villagers leaving the town. Read More...
