This Week In Video Games 8/31/26 — 9/4/26

A lot has gone on this week in video games. Here is a recap of what we covered in the world of video games on the site this week Well, this happened to be one massive week for all of those video games out there. Even as we came on the tail end of gamescom wrapping up, and gearing up for the big releases on the way to us in the coming weeks. Halloween: The Game certainly went extremely hard to get ready for the launch, then we had a bunch from the Resident Evil movie, Until Dawn 2, and Warlock to keep the hype going. Street Fighter Kicks Us In The Face With Some Of The Game's Silliness

One new trailer for the Street Fighter movie is out there, and it brings all of the weirdness of the Street Fighter IP After having so many serious movies out there as of late based on video games, it is almost time for us all to have some silly fun with Street Fighter. Well, after we have to wait another month for it to hit theaters on October 16th, but that doesn't mean we can't have some fun right now. In fact, we have a new trailer for the movie out there in the wild, and it is showing off how the cast and crew are going to be taking the whole IP closer to the absurdity of the Street Fighter games rather than trying to make something truly serious. This is a game that has a guy with stretchy arms, another with a foot-tall buzz cut, and another green monster fighting real fighters out there, so it's aimed to be a little absurd. Read More…

SPINE Is Getting Installed On Us All In The Summer Of 2027

The release window for SPINE is now set down, and we will be able to play with this new SPINE next summer It feels like SPINE lands in the zeitgeist and then falls off so often, but that does not mean the game is still not coming. In fact, during gamescom, we had a small announcement pop up from Nekki in the middle of it all, so it could bring out more for the game. Not just in the way of a new video to look at, which we have below, but also in the way of when we can expect the Gun Fu title to hit the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC. A new look at the progression in Halloween: The Game is here, just before we launch into the matches of death this Halloween It is the season as of now, and we all need to get ready for Halloween: The Game to launch on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC this coming September 8th. Just in time to miss the holiday weekend, unless you shelled out for the early access version of the game from IllFonic and Gun Interactive out there. Maneater 2 Is Swimming Its Way Back Into All Of Our Hearts

The next entry to the Maneater IP is on the way, with the recent reveal we just had for Maneater 2 Just when you thought a fun IP was going to be a one-off with a few bits of DLC, we have the official announcement that Maneater 2 is swimming its way out there to the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC. This would be that amazing little shaRkPG title that Tripwire Interactive gave us all a few years back, and now with the help of Demiurge Studios, we are getting another full entry into the IP. All of the fun that we had in Maneater the first time around swimming as a shark, eating various tourists, doing a bit of parkour, and then fighting so many other things in the sea will be on display again. Resident Evil Drops A Lot Of New Gore & Lore For The Upcoming Film

An exclusive look at the upcoming Resident Evil movie is here, just a little ahead of us all getting to see Resident Evil in theaters The dead are starting to rise up as we get closer to September 18th, when the Resident Evil movie will be hitting theaters. We have seen quite a bit of the film at all of the conventions and showcases out there, and it looks as if we have one more bit to look at for it all. A longer look at a scene that we have seen in the previous trailers, and this one shows off just how our new protagonist is going to learn some of the Resident Evil lore out there. Halloween: The Game Stalks Us Further Into East Haddonfield For The Game

A new map for Halloween: The Game is out there, and we get to see more hits to the Halloween IP at large Another map is opening up for Halloween: The Game just ahead of the September 8th release on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Just a solid way for IllFonic and Gun Interactive to cap off gamescom, as well. A new map that was rather expected, given the IP's setting, but now we get to see it. A new spectacle for us to perform all of our stunts through will be part of the final release of the game, as Jurassic World will be one of the maps we are going to be performing in. Get Into A Whole New Altered State With The Coming Release For Control Resonant

A new look at Control Resonant was given out at gamescom to show how Dylan will alter things in the Control universe We are now in the final stretches of the cycle for Control Resonant now that gamescom has come and gone, but there is still so much more to look forward to for the game. September 24th is going to hit us so much faster than we could have expected, so Remedy is kicking things up to get us all ready for the game to land on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. At least, kicking things up in terms of building up the hype for the game to show us how Dylan will alter things in the Control world. Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons Gives Us The Gameplay To Take On Upcoming Evils

A long look at Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons is here, and we get to see some true gameplay for our Warlock character It looks as if someone out there made a great pact with a demon during gamescom this year, as we have a whole lot of new gameplay to look at for Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons. We still have to wait until 2027 to get to experience it on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC ourselves, but Invoke Studios has been compelled by that pact to give us just what all of us nerds have been longing for. The release date for The Wolf Among Us Remastered is on the way to us with a new Noir Mode for The Wolf Among Us We all knew that The Wolf Among Us Remastered was on the way to us, but many of us thought we might have to wait until the next season of the story was going to be ready for us before we would get to see this remaster. That does not look as if it is going to be the case, as Telltale is getting the game ready for us sooner than we could have thought.
