by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 31st of March 2022 - 09:00 PM ]
PlayStation PlayStation Plus is finally folding PlayStation Now into one specific service for us all It was one of the worst kept secrets and, thankfully, the rumors can now stop with the announcement we have for PlayStation Plus and how things are going to be changing for the service. Try not to freak out just yet; we still have to wait until June for all of these to go into effect, but it does sound close to what gamers have been asking for. Even if it does mean that PlayStation Now is slightly going away and we will see this service wrapped up in the new one here. All so we can get those classic PS1, PS2, and PS3 titles on the PS4 or PS5 depending on where you are in the cycle here. Read More...

by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 22nd of March 2016 - 05:00 PM ]
Manhunt Manhunt & Bully have popped up on the EU PS Store via PS2 'backwards' so we can all experience the joys of Manhunt yet again Seemingly out of nowhere it looks like Manhunt and Bully have popped up on the EU PlayStation store for purchase on the PS4. Yes these two PS2 classic titles from Rockstar Games are the next on the list for the "backwards compatible" titles that we were told would be coming. Not only coming but given a high res treatment and throwing all of the new features that the PS4 has into the mix for both titles. This includes a Platinum trophy for both Manhunt and Bully for those hunters out there. Read More...

Dig Up The Old Collection As PS2 Emulation On Is Headed To The PS4
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 20th of November 2015 - 06:00 PM ]
PS2 Emulation It has been confirmed that PS2 Emulation will be coming to the PS4 so we can have some form of backwards compatibility even if it is only PS2 Emulation Looks like PS2 Emulation is on its way to the PS4 so we can finally have some backwards capabilities with the console now. It has been confirmed by Sony so there is no more debate but based on some titles bundled in with the Star Wars Battlefront editions PS2 Emulation is here and it looks to work well. Few details have been officially stated about it but if things are true from what Digital Foundry found it looks like there is more that PS2 Emulation mixed into this whole update. Some rather interesting things in fact. Read More...

by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 23rd of December 2014 - 10:00 PM ]
Naughty Dog is celebrating their 30th anniversary and the developer and PlayStation have a nice video to help educate you on where they came from If you just thought to yourself "I don't need a history lesson for Naughty Dog" then you are most likely the largest fan of the developer or you're an employee of theirs. They have had a long 30 year run that has been pushed and promoted pretty much all year. Now we get it pushed again as we have a nice long history lesson that shows you a 50 minute recap of where Naughty Dog started and are going here in the coming years. Read More...

WOOT, 15 years down!
by Ben Brody [ Friday, 4th of December 2009 - 09:19 PM ]
Today, December 3, 2009 marks the 15th anniversary of Sony's PlayStation line. The timeline goes as followed:1994: Release of PlayStation 12000: Release of PlayStation 22005: Release of PlayStationPortable2006: Release of PlayStation 3There were a bunch of Slims in there as well, but those aren't really new consoles, just redesigned consoles. The 15 years has been kind to Sony who previous to getting into the game industry was known for it's TV equipment. Sony's Beta player had given LaserDisc and VHS a run for their money, and their TV's were considered second to none. Read More...

Jurassic: The Hunted Is Not The 5th Jurassic Park Film
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Sunday, 18th of October 2009 - 02:39 PM ]
So what is this game then if it isn't the next IP for the Jurassic Park franchise? Pretty much another dinosaur shooter style game with one major twist that others do not have. What would this twist be? Not that you are another space marine traveled through time and space and ends up in a jurassic era, but that you are a "normalish" adventurer and weapons master. That and you have been transported back in time with loads of ammo and weapons to hunt and kill the monstrous and angry dinosaurs of the jurassic era, via the Bermuda Triangle. Yep, that's right. Activision Releases More Track Lists for Band Hero
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 1st of October 2009 - 07:47 PM ]
There comes a time when you realize there are certain products are just not for your demographic anymore. Maybe it was when you were hitting puberty and realized that while you may still like Saturday morning cartoons, the commercials annoyed you rather than interested. Or perhaps you tried to watch The Tonight Show before Jay Leno was replaced and realized every joke was for the geriatric crowd. Reading today's press release from Activision really demonstrated to me that while I may enjoy rhythm games, Band Hero is not being marketed to me. Band Hero is the long lost love child of Guitar Hero: World Tour and High School Musical. Read More...

Review: Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 25th of September 2009 - 08:33 PM ]
The Civil War saga in the Marvel universe has been one of the best stories to grace comic books in quite some time. It's a great story that is an allegorical commentary in the wake of 9/11 and The Patriot Act. In the storyline, a Superhuman, Nitro, goes nuclear in Stamford, Connecticut, killing hundreds during a reality TV show. A TV show that was like COPS but following the New Warriors. Once this happens, the US public demands that Superhumans answer for their actions and the Superhuman Registration Act is put in place forcing heroes to come out and show who they are. Read More...

Review: Guitar Hero 5
by Ben Brody [ Tuesday, 1st of September 2009 - 11:25 AM ]
So another one is out. I won't bother you with what Guitar Hero is, nor will I bore you with details about how the game is played, or whether it plays well. Yes, it plays well, and yes, it is same as it always has been, press the note on the bars then strum when the according color passes the bar. However, there are some new additions that make Guitar Hero 5 the best Guitar Hero yet. Party play is long overdue, and something that was almost added into Rock Band 1. Party play is just that, a mode for a party. Read More...

Review: Madden NFL 10
by Ben Brody [ Thursday, 13th of August 2009 - 10:34 PM ]
EA Sports's Madden NFL 10. The Best Madden Ever In years past (especially between 02 and 08) the annual Madden has been seen as somewhat of a roster update, however, Madden NFL 10 is something I've not experienced before: an ultra good looking, ultra realistic football game. Madden NFL 09 was a step in the right direction, with better graphics and new animations, however Madden 10 is a giant leap in the right direction, such a big leap it may have just landed where it needed to be. In years past, Madden has been hampered by a lack-luster graphics system that was essentially a beefed up PS2 engine. Textures were hi-res and the detail was there, however player models and the overall stadium experience was still fairly sixth generation. Read More...

Review: Rock Band: Country Pack
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 10th of August 2009 - 12:28 AM ]
Rock Band: Country Pack Rock Band is well known for the DLC updates they do every week. Very well known, for it. But one thing that the franchise is not well known for is having a good selection of music that falls in line with the controls and set up. In this case I am talking Country. A genre that isn't normally popular amongst the more hardcore gamers and fans of rhythm games. Well that was up until just recently with the expansion to Rock Band with the Country Pack. I use the word expansion here because this is really what the whole pack is. Read More...

Atlus Announces Persona 4 Coming to US on 12/9/08
by Michael Camacho [ Sunday, 6th of July 2008 - 07:13 PM ]
Yesterday, July 3rd, Atlus announced that Persona 2 will be coming to American PS2s this December 12th 2008.  It was inevitable the game would be coming here considering the acclaim Persona 3 received from critics and gamers alike.  The only question was when, and Atlus answered.  Persona 4 takes place in a Japanese countryside at Gekkkoukan High, where a mysterious string of murders have taken place, and of course it's up to you and your team to find the answers.  Persona 3 introduced an interesting relationship system in which you had to build friendships to help boost abilities and teamwork.  In Persona 4 that system returns along with crafting weapons and even having part-time jobs.
