If one new IP was able to take over SDCC this year, it was certainly Dungeon Crawler Carl. A relatively new book series that I am sure you have heard a few things about, or seen a few of the memes on the internet. As long as you are into the video game space, or the gaming space in general. If not, then get ready to learn a bit more about the IP, as Audible had us out to interview the writer of Dungeon Crawler Carl (Matt Dinniman), along with the main voice talent (Jeff Hays) for the audiobook version of the series. It was short, sweet, and gave us a feeling for how the IP could be going forward in all of the various interactive mediums out there. Let us get this interview started for you.
Those who know the ins and outs of Dungeon Crawler Carl can move right along to the interview below. Those needing a bit of a refresher for the IP, well, it is a book series that places the titular Carl in an intergalactic gameshow after an invasion of Earth. A gameshow that also feels like how we use Twitch in the real world, only in this world it is to watch a bit of the death games going on to see who will survive the various game levels we are going down. Toss in some Rick & Morty humor, and a lot of modern references, and you have the extreme basics of Dungeon Crawler Carl. Even though it sounds like a Sci-Fi, in the following interview, we find out that it should be seen more as a horror series.
