On the Brink
by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 29th of May 2009 - 05:19 PM ]
Oh Bethesda studios you foul temptress. Such little information you give us about your new title has everyone salivating for more! Brink is the new title by Bethesda studios and Splash Damage. These two companies joined forces in May of last year, saying they both "share a passion for creating great games" and they're totally "confident that this partnership will result in even greater experiences for gamers." (Joystiq) Well it looks like the fruit of their labor is coming into view just a few days before the big E3 bash begins. The website Brink is currently playing the first teaser with very little information. Read More…

12 Is The New Number Of The Beast
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 28th of May 2009 - 09:18 PM ]
12 More Iron Maiden Songs for Rock Band Just announced via their online 'zine, Harmonix just released their next wave of downloadable for Rock Band/Rock Band 2. Something which generally isn't that big of news. Generally. Except this time it is a full set of 12 Iron Maiden songs. Including one of my favorites, which was covered by Cradle of Filth, Hallowed Be Thy Name. Below is the full list as well as part of the 'zine just sent out. The only thing that kind of upsets me about this whole thing is there is no word on how it will be handled for the two tracks that have already been released. Read More…

The Last Trophies
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 28th of May 2009 - 04:49 PM ]
The Last Guy gets Trophies and more Hopefully it hasn't been too long for you to have forgotten about that cool little game on the PSN where you run around saving people from a "zombie" apocalypse in [insert big real city here]. If it has, then I say it is time for you to dust off the good ol' downloaded game and give it another looksie today. Also to keep it on the mind for at least the next month or so after taking another looksie. If you haven't even tried it, then play the demo and then most likely shell out the $10 for the full version. Read More…

Greatest Hits Round 2
by Binh Nguyen [ Thursday, 28th of May 2009 - 04:19 PM ]
Do you smell it? It’s going to be all over the place. It’s the PS3's newest additions to the greatest hits library, all of which will be priced at $29.99 and on shelves by June 16th. Here is the list: Army of Two, EA (March 4, 2008) Battlefield: Bad Company, EA (June 23, 2008) Devil May Cry 4, Capcom (February 5, 2008) Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, SCEA (April 15, 2008) Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Konami (June 12, 2008) Ratchet&Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, SCEA (October 23, 2007) So I really have questions about this list, as in where is Heavenly Sword, and what about Uncharted? Yes, the games listed above are valid and have the right to be a part of the Greatest Hits library, but some of the titles are not even a year old yet. Now they are already part of the Greatest Hit library? Read More…

EA Totally Bringing It On Too
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 27th of May 2009 - 10:50 PM ]
What EA is bringing to E3 2009 Not to be outdone by any means by Activision, EA is coming on even stronger for their list of games to be viewable. Two not even in their booth, but in special rooms just for them. They are all listed below in the release because there are so many to name that I would just be trolling on. But they are bringing 27 games to public view. At least this is what they've officially told the world so far. Read More…

Today it was announced that 38 Studios acquired Big Huge Games.  38 Studios is the studio that was started by now-retired professional baseball player Curt Schilling who is also an admitted World of Warcraft addict.  Founding 38 Studios to create an “Online Entertainment Experience,” Schilling and his team have been working on this new fantasy MMOG, currently entitled Copernicus, since 2006. I know at this point you’re rolling your eyes at another fantasy MMORPG, and frankly, I don’t blame you.  Instead let’s look at how Schilling, a World Series Champion and fairly well-known and popular person in the US, bought into the industry to bring a quality product for the masses to enjoy. A Change of Color
by Binh Nguyen [ Wednesday, 27th of May 2009 - 05:08 AM ]
Druids, are you tired of looking the same as all the other Druids? Would you want to change colors in your bear and cat form? Do you want to dance in bear form in style? Well now you can, as Blizzard has announced new looks for the Druids! In the next major patch for World of Warcraft, druids will be able to find color schemes for the bear and cat forms. Blizzard made the following announcement on their Under Development page: “There will be five different designs for each of these forms for the Horde and Alliance. Night elves can choose to change their cat and bear look at any time by visiting the barber shop and changing their character's hair color, while tauren will be able to change which look they use by switching skin tones in the barber shop -- a new feature for tauren in the next major content patch. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 - Ultimate Character Reveal (Captain America)
by Jesse [ Tuesday, 26th of May 2009 - 04:22 PM ]
In 2006 Marvel and Activision teamed up to create Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. Built on the X-men Legends engine, Ultimate Alliance featured the largest collection of comic book characters ever seen in a video game. Combining the standard roster with downloadable content, Ultimate Alliance featured nearly 40 playable characters. The game was a success and this coming fall we'll get to see the sequel Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2: Fusion. Already there are 17 playable characters that will be a part of the roster with at least another dozen that have yet to be identified as playable or non-playable. Read More…

Midway to Sell Flagship Franchise, Studios
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 25th of May 2009 - 07:27 PM ]
Last Thursday’s announcement that Midway Games, of Mortal Kombat fame, will be selling off its Mortal Kombat franchise along with its Chicago and Seattle studios is not shocking.  We have watched this proud company take its lumps this past year with threats of closing or being bought, having its debt purchased and ultimately filing for bankruptcy.  Having grown up in Chicago, Midway Games was always a steady force in the Windy City just off of California Ave.  I even applied and interviewed for a job there once upon a time. Samurai Shodown Anthology Review
by Jesse [ Sunday, 24th of May 2009 - 02:42 AM ]
When you look back at the 1990’s and you see the more popular fighting games to come out of that decade, your mind will invariably jump to Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter above anything else. From those two series came so many clones that really didn’t offer anything new to the genre. It’s ironic though that most of these clones are probably better known than anything from the Samurai Shodown series which is a shame since Samurai Shodown did so much to add to the fighting genre back in the day. Thankfully SNK Playmore have put together a collection of Samurai Shodown games that is a must have for anyone who is a fan of the series. There are several things that separate Samurai Shodown from virtually every other fighting game of the same era. Read More…
