Naughty Bear Are You Losing Your Touch?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 27th of May 2010 - 07:06 PM ]
As Naughty Bear has been stealing more and more for the book How To Be More Like Hades™, I would have expected him to use one of the better rules this time around. That rule being #12, "Use Their Own Knife Against Them." But instead he went with the less used rule #1012, "Curb Smash When You Can." Which does not make sense as it is a larger slap in the face to gut someone with their own machete. Watch the below clip from the Book Of Naughty and see what I mean. #86 "Naughty-Kill" is not all that naughty. Read More...

How Tough Are The Streets In APB
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 27th of May 2010 - 02:55 PM ]
From the look of things, they are extremely tough - even after the elected officials legalize vigilantism. That is music to our ears for what we are being promised for EA and Realtime Worlds' MMO APB. We want them to be rough and gruff. It is a action MMO version of Cops and Robbers after all. If you want to see for yourself how rough the streets are going to be, watch the trailer/opening cinematic for yourself. You'll get to see how no one really cares about graffiti in this town. Not to mention, you'll see a bit more of some in game action. Read More...

LARPing With Game Nation
by Binh Nguyen [ Wednesday, 26th of May 2010 - 05:13 PM ]
So I have this idea. What if we build a theme park and make it an all video game themed so you can re-live your gaming experience? Sounds awesome right? Wait, someone already thought of that idea? And are looking for a location to build it? Well dang it all! If you don't know what I am talking about, Game Nation is going to be a name you will be hearing for quite a while as they are gearing up to make our live-action role-playing dreams come true as they are in search for a location for the world's first “Experiential Video Game Theme Park and Resort”. So pretty much they are going to be one hell of a LARPing experience to me. Not much was said in the press release except the grand announcement for this theme park and resort. Read More...

The Gamecenter: Wal-Mart's Answer to Amazon?
by Kevin [ Monday, 24th of May 2010 - 03:29 PM ]
Wal-Mart, one of the reigning kings of discount department stores, is entering the on-line space occupied by places like Amazon. Gamecenter is "a one-shop stop for all the greatest news and previews and exclusives." Currently, the deals I see on the site involve providing gift-eCards for certain purchases, a "buy 2, get 1 free" for XBox 360 Platinum Hits, and if you pre-order three games you'll get a $50 gift card. The games have to be from a pre-defined list, and they do all have to be for the same platform though. Not bad. Read More...

Red Dead Redemption: First Impressions And Thoughts
by Brian Goodman [ Friday, 21st of May 2010 - 09:41 PM ]
Red Dead Redemption is Rockstar San Diego's newly released sandbox genre game. Despite many delayed release dates, reports of troubled working conditions, and an overblown development budget making profitability unlikely, the game has come out to much critical acclaim and rightly so. Red Dead Redemption is a sequel to the 2004 XBox and PS2 release Red Dead Revolver. Red Dead Redemption stars outlaw turned government agent John Marston. The Clint Eastwood-like spaghetti western plot revolves around Mr. Read More...

Let's See That CoD Black Ops Uncut
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 20th of May 2010 - 04:23 PM ]
The first amendment is one of the few things that we Americans love to hide behind when we are not being cattle and following the "in" crowd. When we truly speak our minds and in turn get ridiculed or condemned for what we say; All because it is against the majority. But that doesn't make it any less a right we have been empowered with so we can say what we want without much worry. You know who we have to thank for that, our great military men and women who go out under orders and slaughter those who would slap our hands with rulers for saying "poopie." So in honor of those men and women, I give you the First Amendment version of the Call of Duty: Black Ops trailer. Read More...

Dead Space Lets You Kill Babies Like Dante
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 18th of May 2010 - 08:59 PM ]
Visceral Games just likes killing babies. Or at least that is how it seems from their games. First you get to slaughter the unbaptized ones in Dante's Inferno. Now, for the screens below, it looks like you get to kill "infected" babies in Dead Space 2. Infected and with Cthulhu growing out their back babies. Ok, well those ones need killing I guess... What also needs killing is the person who took these screen captures as well. Read More...

Review: Alan Wake
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 17th of May 2010 - 09:09 PM ]
If you follow me at all on here it should be no surprise that I have not seen much of a difference between Alan Wake and Silent Hill. At least that's my opinion from the viewpoint of the screen shots, trailers and the most recent live action Bright Falls series. I mean, they look so very similar. If you don't think so, then you should have your brain examined. Well, I was just recently able to give Alan Wake a good play through. A really good play through so I could contrast and compare between this new IP and the "older" Silent Hill IP. Read More...

Nintendo & American Heart Association To Get You Off The Couch
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 17th of May 2010 - 05:45 PM ]
Today Nintendo and the American Heart Association announced a partnership to get you off your couch and be active. Throwing around various statistics and knowing gamers, the two powerhouses look to empower gamers to become active, make time for exercise and enjoy getting fit. Along with the announcement comes the unveiling of a new website to inform users of how they can get involved at home using Nintendo products and across the country with AHA's Start! Heart Walks. As much as I want to be cynical and sarcastic about how this is simply a business move to sell more Wii's or how the AHA is just piggybacking on the success of Nintendo's console or how it is only a vehicle to sell the Wii Vitality Sensor, I'm going to restrain myself, be positive and optimistic. Lessons Learned: Record of Agarest War
by Michael Camacho [ Monday, 17th of May 2010 - 02:34 PM ]
Have you ever been excited for a game's release, and somehow found a way to ruin the game experience due to your own mistake? I guess in my case, it's more stupidity than a mistake. What I am about to recount is how I went from being in Heaven to dragging myself through Hell in a matter of 10 days. This is my story on how my attempt to review Record of Agarest War went sour and the lessons I learned. As a gamer that is very keen on the import scene, I had heard of Record of Agarest War when it was first released in Japan in late 2007. I was intrigued by the reported dating aspects, the Soul Breeding the game touted and being able to play through story through multiple generations. Read More...

Dream Another Dream Naughty Bear
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 14th of May 2010 - 10:08 PM ]
I swear to the gods that Naughty Bear, like Micheal Bay, love to use things from our pasts and childhoods. Fortunately, unlike Micheal Bay, destroying them is not the case in these "Nightmare" videos. Aliens and The Blair Witch Project already got the "Nightmare" redition done by Naughty Bear, so you must be wondering what is next? Well if you really don't want to see the fun, I'll give you a hint. It's not Event Horizon. Read More...

Mini Review: Dante's Inferno: Trials Of Lucida
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 14th of May 2010 - 02:32 PM ]
It was talked about way back in February when Dante's Inferno first launched and has since come to fruition. That being the DLC that adds multiplayer to a game that was originally sold as a single player experience. Also DLC that adds the ability for players to build their own challenge maps for other people who own Dante's Inferno to play. The DLC I am speaking of is The Trials Of Lucida. Is it worth the $10? Not So Naughty Bear Achievements
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 12th of May 2010 - 10:20 PM ]
For a game that is all about being naughty, I will say that the list of achievements, and we can safely assume trophies, is kind of on the not so naughty side. Filled more with irony and secrecy if you ask me. Not to mention a few homages to other great franchises, namely Resident Evil sticks out from the list below. But where are the naughty titles for these things? I mean where is the Blowing Your Load or That's What She Said titles? Read More...

Mytheon Being Held Hostage By VooDoo
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 12th of May 2010 - 04:46 PM ]
Just when you thought it was safe for us to poke our heads out and not hear about some new legal action taking place between video game companies, (Activision and Infinity Ward I'm looking at you) a new one hits. Not between those two though, but between a couple smaller companies, Petroglyph Games and True Games. Before you ask, no it is not about who gets to keep "Games" in their title. It is about their joint venture on the MMORTS Mytheon. Read More...

EA Presents The Online Pass
by Kevin [ Tuesday, 11th of May 2010 - 10:35 PM ]
Game companies are becoming craftier and craftier concerning how they treat used game sales. It is no surprise that the selling of a previously owned title does little to nothing for any given company financially, and as such, companies have to become sly with what they do to combat this perceived threat. Well thankfully Electronic Arts, the worldwide leader in innovation and consumer-friendly practices, presents: The Online Pass. How does this modern jewel of a system work? Read More...
