Making Getting A Job Testing Games A Game
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 4th of September 2009 - 02:56 PM ]
We all have heard it before. What would be the best job for a gamer? Playing/Testing games is generally the answer. I'm a fan of paid to just live, but hey, that's not going to be likely. Also not the point here. Yesterday (9/3/09), Sony and the SCEA Studios are giving gamers just that chance. The chance to be one of their game testers for at least a year. Not only that, but to be paid to be one of their game testers for a year. Something that is nigh impossible for someone to get into even though they have all the qualifications for it. Read More...

by Ben Brody [ Tuesday, 30th of June 2009 - 06:55 AM ]
What's to do when your company posts a $431 million loss? Leave! Which is exactly what Scott Guthrie did about a month ago. The former Executive Vice President of Publishing for THQ was officially hired on as Executive Vice President and General Manager for MTV Games. Also joining MTV Games as Senior Vice President of Sales is David Cox the former Senior Director, Sales, and Merchandising Executive at SCEA. “With our acquisition of Harmonix to our relationship with Jerry Bruckheimer Games, Inc., MTV Games has quickly risen to become one of the top five video gaming publishers. More Clutter From The Beatles
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 5th of May 2009 - 05:45 PM ]
New Beatles Rock Band Controllers With pre-orders starting to fly in for this new Rock Band game, The Beatles, the people over at Harmonix and MTV have decided to hook those pre-order people with a few little extras for shelling out a few bucks before the game comes out. Well hook them up somewhat. By giving them a site they can go to where they can place in a code given when pre-order. This will apparently give access to a few things that will hit the internet hours after it is placed in there. Read More...

Rocked Off
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 11th of March 2009 - 05:26 PM ]
WCG Ultimate Gamer Episode 1 Review For those who are not in the know, there is a new 'reality' show on Sci Fi that premiered last night. For those further not in the know, it is a show that pits some of the best professional and not so professional gamers in a weekly challenge based show to let them prove they are the Ultimate Gamer. It mixes in real world versions of games, paint ball for FPS, actual Car racing for racing games, real guitar for Rock Band. You get the gist. Read More...

Here Comes The Walrus
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 5th of March 2009 - 04:28 PM ]
THE BEATLES: ROCK BAND WORLDWIDE RELEASE SET FOR 9/9/09 I guess all of the talks have finalized and all of the licensing is settled for today they announced when we can all look forward to playing the collective works of The Beatles in a Rock Band type arena. That would be the 9th of September this year. Oh, and get this, it will be available worldwide and on all three of the major next gen consoles all at the same time. Let that set in for a second because I know that is some shocking news given the staggered releases from before, both location-wise and platform-wise. Read More...

The Real World Of Gaming
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 15th of January 2009 - 05:55 PM ]
WCG's The Ultimate Gamer You may have heard of this, but you also may not have. What is it, well like the header alludes to, it is a new reality TV show on Sci Fi showing who is the ultimate gamer out of a selection of 12 professional, and extremely good gamers. Yes, I know it sounds odd at first, but let me explain, or at least watch the trailer below, or check out their site. See, not only do they take real gamers, people you might have actually played against at some point, but they also test them to see if they can do these virtual skills in the real world as well. Not to mention if they can handle the gaming side under different and unusual circumstances. Read More...

Harmonix In The Sky, With Diamonds
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 30th of October 2008 - 03:49 PM ]
MTV And Apple Corps. Join Forces For Beatles Music Game So yesterday there was an announcement that there was something major going to be announced from Apple and MTV. A nice little presser that included some of the PR people from Harmonix. So of course that sprouted rumors and theories of what was going to be announced. A big one was a Beatles version of Rock Band. Given the companies involved. Read More...

Something Familiar At Blizzcon
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 30th of September 2008 - 03:03 PM ]
DirectTV's new host for Blizzcon 08! - Becky 'Aktrez' Young! If you were not able to snag up a Blizzcon ticket in the first go around, you were most likely sad. Then there came the second boost of tickets that flooded the market and got snagged up in mere minutes. So I bet you were sad again. Then Blizzard responded with, "Well if you can't be there in person, then we will televise it for you, for a small fee." So then you could be a bit happier. But then they just announced something that should make this site a bit happier about that. Read More...

Reality TV, Yet Another Low?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 9th of September 2008 - 08:37 PM ]
MTV's official Rock Band 2 show!!! (Los Angeles) So, this is still rumor and has been posted only in a few places online as of late, but looking at the ad, it is most likely not a real one. But I thought I would post this due to the comic value of the concept and idea behind it. Why do I think it is a false one, because they ask you to email a GMail account instead of an official MTV account. Just me huh. Any ways, if you don't want to click in and haven't read the title bar, what I am talking about is that "MTV" wants to do a Rock Band 2 reality TV show. Read More...

Reality Video Game?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 2nd of July 2008 - 11:24 PM ]
American Ninja Warriors Sought While not exactly a bit of gaming news. But I thought it would be fun to bring it up for anyone on here that missed this. On top of that, when you look at Ninja Warrior, it is a weird kind of Real Life Video Game. I mean it is a mix of Assassin's Creed and Tenchu. And it is hosted by G4 so that could give another merit to gaming and pwnage Looks like G4 is looking to get three people to send off to compete on the Ninja Warrior challenge. If you haven't seen the show, it is where 100 people start out running an obstacle course that test the human body to no end. Everything from Parkour to swinging on chains to spider climbing up glass walls. Read More...

F*ck Your TV Guide!
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 4th of March 2008 - 07:20 PM ]
Wii Gets A New Channel Currently the main information is out of Japan, as usual. Yes yet another thing they get before us, but what's new right? Now this is a free download onto the Wii as with the other channels it offers up. What does it do? Really it is just a TV guide on your Wii, or at least that's what they want you to believe. The truth is that it is just that with a few extra bells and whistles added ontop of it. First, You will be able to search around for your shows using the comfort of the WiiMote instead of going to the TV Guide itself or the TV Guide Channel on your Cable/Satelite provider. Read More...
