Brought To The Brink Of Stereotypes
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 12th of March 2010 - 07:33 PM ]
Who's ready to see some new footage of Bethesda's up coming title Brink? I know I am. Now if only we had some new footage. Oh wait, we totally do, and it is awesome. Even though it is a pre-rendered video with no in-game spliced in at all it still captures a bit of the essence of the game. The humor, action, and difference between character classes. If you want to call them classes and not professions here. One thing I find a bit interesting is the stereotypes that Bethesda uses in the video, and maybe in the game. Read More…

Green Day Rock Band Release Dated
by Brian Bentley [ Friday, 12th of March 2010 - 02:39 PM ]
Upon hearing the announcement of Green Day: Rock Band at the Video Game Awards, my face had a perplexed look that went deeper than when Jack Black pretended to freak out on stage at the beginning of the show. Completely unexpected, Harmonix chose Green Day as their follow-up band to give an exclusive title. So, the Beatles... then, Green Day. Read More…

by Michael Camacho [ Friday, 12th of March 2010 - 12:00 AM ]
"B" Squad, AKA Bad Company, is back! EA and DICE have returned with a much improved sequel with Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Hope you are ready for the next mission filled with more explosions, more destruction, and even more laughs. You return as Preston Marlowe, along with your entire squad from the first game, consisting of Terrance Sweetwater, George Haggard, and Samuel "Sarge" Redford. But before you get to play the games from the eyes of Private Marlowe, the game takes you on a trip to the past. You begin in Japan on a mission set during World War II. Read More…

Nearly Nier Gameplay Gameplay
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 11th of March 2010 - 10:00 PM ]
When I first heard about Nier from Square-Enix, I was intrigued. I wondered at what new type of games we could expect from the Final Fantasy giant. Maybe a new franchise or something the like. Which from the below gameplay trailer, I am a bit let down on the hopes of seeing anything truly new and innovative. Then again, I could be pleasantly surprised in the not to distant future, but from the following I doubt it will change greatly before April 22nd when Nier launches. It looks like a poor mans Final Fantasy when you look at it. Read More…

Macs R Dead
by Kevin [ Thursday, 11th of March 2010 - 12:45 PM ]
I think everyone saw this coming at some point. When you have a game series with such wide appeal as the Left 4 Dead series, the need to push it out to other platforms becomes fairly obvious. Though I suspect that at some point we will see this game make its way to handhelds in some form or another, this announcement deals with Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 shuffling its zombie feet to the Mac OSX through the glory of Steam for the Mac. For those who are curious, the L4D Team discuss what exactly this means for you: "Steam on the Mac will behave just like Steam for Windows, but through Steam Play will add cross-platform ownership. That means if you own Left 4 Dead 2 for Windows, then you already own it for the Mac. Read More…

Another South Park Song To Hit Rock Band
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 11th of March 2010 - 01:41 AM ]
While it is not Shitty Shitty Fag Fag or Blame Canada or even Uncle Fucker, it is one of the most amazing remixes and product placements in South Park in almost forever. I'm talking a little ditty that was featured with "Rock Band" during the episode of Whale Whores. Yea, that's right. Joining Timmy and The Lords Of The Underworld, artist and song title, is Eric Cartman's perfect rendition of Poker Face. A song that when I hear it gets stuck in my head for days. The Cartman version at least. Read More…

38 Studios Finds A Publisher With EA
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 10th of March 2010 - 10:30 PM ]
38 Studio's just announced that it has signed an agreement with Electronic Arts to publish their first title, which is not their MMO. 38 Studios, LLC is the enterprise of Curt Schilling (World Series MVP) and the creative minds of R.A. Salvatore (of Drizzt fame) and Todd McFarlane (Spawn anyone?) . 38 Studios has been working on an epic fantasy title code named 'Project Mercury', under the watchful eye of Ken Rolston, known best for being the lead designer of Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Who Is The Last Titan Standing?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 10th of March 2010 - 07:45 PM ]
A few weeks ago Spike TV posed this question to God of War fans all over North America with a casting call for their show God of War: The Last Titan Standing. A show that was designed to place true God of War fans into the action of the game by recreating some challenges Kratos endured in his epic story. On top of the challenges, this enabled these lucky individuals to be amongst the first in the world - sans media and the developers - to actually play God of War III. A "real" test to show who is the world's largest God of War fan out of a selected 10 people. Read More…

No Shankn' way!! A New Trailer!!
by Binh Nguyen [ Wednesday, 10th of March 2010 - 05:56 PM ]
The last time we heard anything about Shank was at PAX in Seattle, Washington where I claimed it to be the best game I played at PAX. No new news of any sorts has come out about who will partner with Klei Entertainment to bring this game to see the time of day. As reported a few days ago at shankgame.com they have partnered up with EA Partners to bring Shank to XBox Live, PlayStation Network and PC. Now at GDC, Shank has released a new trailer for everyone to enjoy. Read More…

Sneaking You Some Shots Of Lara Croft
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 10th of March 2010 - 03:59 PM ]
Looks like Lara is no longer raiding tombs, at least in the title form of things. As can be seen in the latest in the Lara Croft stories, Lara Croft And The Guardian Of Light. Which is much better than other titles it could have been like Lara Croft And The Space Aliens That Crashed And Died On Earth And She Has To Take Her Son On An Adventure With Monkey. Not that catchy I know. But title is not the point here for this digitally distibuted game slated for this summer. Read More…

Review: Heavy Rain
by Brian Bentley [ Tuesday, 9th of March 2010 - 11:37 PM ]
To every person who has ever claimed that they are all about story over game play, be prepared to put your money where your mouth is. An ambitious title from start to finish, Heavy Rain will challenge you not only on your assertions, but possibly your morality and level of immersion as well. Whether you call it “interactive media,” a “story-driven game” or “Choose Your Own Adventure gone wrong,” Heavy Rain will intrigue you enough to play it and it will elicit a reaction whether it be for good or for ill. The story is in the not-to-distant future of a city gripped in fear of a kidnapper / serial killer. With little hope of catching the killer, the hysteria mounts as another victim is taken. Why Is Kratos Bringing Down The Gods In God Of War III?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 9th of March 2010 - 08:06 PM ]
With only one week from today (3/9/10) until the launching of God of War III closing in quickly, that doesn't give a lot of time if you decide to play through the story of the previous games again, whether you are a veteran - such as myself - or are new to the franchise. That is, unless you're willing to grind through it all in a weekend like I most likely will.  Unfortunately, for those of you picking up the God of War Collection now for the first time, it will take you a bit longer than one short weekend to hammer through. Thankfully, Sony and Santa Monica Studios know this. Read More…

Scream! Finally, Some New Castlevania Screen Shots
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 9th of March 2010 - 03:09 PM ]
Almost a year after its announcement at E3 '09, we finally get to see what Hideo Kojima has been doing to one of gaming's iconic franchises, Castlevania. He is playing around with Castlevania: Lords of Shadow in a way that I am still kind of on the fence about. At least I write that based off the screen shots below and renders for the Kojima's Castlevania. Some look amazing, while others look like they were originally slated to be place-holder assets that got mixed into the screen shot bin. Look at the renders for the spiders, werewolves, and goblins (I guess? Read More…
