Fat Princess Gets Pushed Back
by Ben Brody [ Monday, 22nd of June 2009 - 01:36 PM ]
So Fat Princess was promised in June. And flying cars were promised in the 1960's. Some promises just can't be kept. The game was one of the more anticipated PSN titles and has been enjoying a successful beta. The game is essentially a "save the princess game". You and a merry band of teammates have to storm a castle of whom your enemy has kidnapped the princess. They've been feeding her cake though, making her fat, and thus making it harder for you to escape with her. Many have considered Fat Princess to be Sony's Castle Crashers, and the gameplay supports up to 32 players instead of just 4. Read More...

Aggrocast Episode Thirty Two: RadNerd Invasion
by Michael Camacho [ Thursday, 18th of June 2009 - 09:23 PM ]
E3 is over and we are all back after much needed rest, but yet we do not come alone this episode. We are pleased to have on as our guests this episode Beau and Leo from Radnerd.com and the hilarity ensues. We try to stay on topic as we discuss E3 and what we saw and thought of various games, talk about what we've been playing and what's been happening since E3. That's probably not in order, but it won't matter anyway as you hear one of the most exciting podcasts we've recorded so far. So, don't forget to check out Radnerd. Read More...

E3 Impression: Gametrak Freedom and Squeeballs Party
by Binh Nguyen [ Thursday, 18th of June 2009 - 04:50 PM ]
Performance Designed Product (a.k.a PDP) first announced the wand like controller, called the Gametrak Freedom, sometime last September for the Xbox 360 and everyone was waiting to see how this motion controller would be different from all the other motion controllers. After seeing it in action at E3, it certainly is. Not only did they show me the Gametrak Freedom controller, but they are also bundling the controller with a game called Squeeball. I know what you guys are asking right now, “Well what’s the point with Project Natal coming out? Read More...

Rumor: PSPgo App for August
by Binh Nguyen [ Tuesday, 16th of June 2009 - 08:33 PM ]
At E3, "the worst kept secret" that Sony was holding was the PSPgo. Also that this new hand-held would be released on October 1st of this year. But, rumor has it right now, that Sony will announce an iTunes like application store at GamesCom in Germany this August. So what does this have to do with the current PSP? Well you will be able to download games to your PSP from this application store. Also said games and applications will go for $2 to $6. Read More...

BackBreaker
by Kevin [ Monday, 15th of June 2009 - 03:42 AM ]
There are the Madden purists out there, there always will be. I cannot consider myself one of them because for all of the "innovations" EA throw into the Madden games - it will always be the same experience for me. Since EA secured the NFL license, there's been false start after false start for competitors to the gridiron throne. I give all the credit in the world to Blitz: The League and the 2k series for creating some compelling gameplay, but because of either: dated gameplay and graphics, or leaning too much on novelty gameplay, they were never able to achieve the same numbers of units sold. Here's hoping BackBreaker becomes a serious contender. Read More...

Jack Tretton = Pissed. Alternate Title, the PS3 Slim is real, now what
by Ben Brody [ Saturday, 13th of June 2009 - 04:40 PM ]
Sure, Jack Tretton was all fun and games (pun totally intended) at this year's SCEA E3 Press Conference, but being pissed in front of several hundred journalists wouldn't serve any good purpose. In a recent interview with CNBC, Tretton, the CEO and president of SCEA, expressed major disappointment in the fact that many of Sony's big E3 announcements got leaked beforehand. The PSP Go!, the PS3 Motion Controller, Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker (the newest MGS for the PSP) and Gran Turismo (also for the PSP, and it should be noted that it had already been announced at the 2004 E3) were all leaked before the conference. E3 Impressions: Dante's Inferno
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 11th of June 2009 - 08:13 PM ]
Hades went to Hell for Dante's Inferno While there isn't much I am allowed to speak about from the behind closed doors showing of EA's Dante's Inferno, there is a little I can speak on as well as show. Just incase you haven't seen the new trailer or the new shots from the game. All from a mixture of the PS3, Xbox, and PSP versions. Even though the gameplay they showed off was from the PS3 version. The graphics were to crisp to be from the PSP and XBox doesn't have a Square or Triangle button, so I figured it was safe to assume there. Read More...

E3 Impressions: The Agency
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 10th of June 2009 - 08:25 PM ]
From An Actual Bond Villain Henchman Being in the job of henching for someone who will be taking over the globe soon via our orbital space stations (No I'm not kidding), I felt it only right to check out The Agency. Partly to see how this new MMO for the PS3 and PC will handle. Partly to see what SOE is going to be training people to do so we can be prepared for it. Also partly because I just had to turn around after getting hands on with DC Universe Online. I'm a gamer and we're lazy. Read More...

E3 Hands-On Impressions: Torchlight
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 10th of June 2009 - 03:39 PM ]
Squirreled away in the back of the Los Angeles Convention Center’s West Hall during E3, Perfect World Entertainment showed off Runic Games’ Torchlight along with their other Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games.  Only minutes after putting my hands on this little dungeon crawler had I decided this game had no business being in the back any longer.  Torchlight by Runic Games is set as a Diablo-esque dungeon-crawling Action RPG, which is actually a good thing since the people behind it are some of the same people behind Diablo and Fate.  The story is that near the small mining town of Torchlight, a rich vein of ore has been found called Ember. E3 Impression: Final Fantasy
by Binh Nguyen [ Tuesday, 9th of June 2009 - 04:07 PM ]
In the land where Fantasy is real, and the Final chapter is never ending, Square-Enix has always been one of the main RPG makers around the world and this year at E3 they left nothing behind. During last year's E3, at the Microsoft Press Conference, Square-Enix dropped a bombshell when they announced that Final Fantasy XIII will be on the Xbox 360 (boooooo…just kidding) and it sparked the ever question of if the system itself can handle a game of that magnitude. Well at E3 2009 Square-Enix showed us all what the game would look like on the Xbox 360 for the first time. Surprisingly enough the game ran fairly well as they even showed off one of the summons from the game for the Press Conference. Read More...

E3 Hands-On Impressions of Brütal Legend
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 9th of June 2009 - 04:03 AM ]
Brütal Legend While Activision tries to file a lawsuit against EA over this property, we who got to go to E3 where also bombarded with this game at the major booths much like Batman Arkham Asylum. Only there was no booth all to itself for this one. Also there was no Jack Black on site pimping the game like he did at the Brütal Legend infomercial pretending to be the Video Game Awards. That all aside, I waded through the line to get my dirty and sinful little hands on this title to give it a good go before the Demo comes out. Granted, it was only my hands and eyes that got to sample any of this game. Read More...

E3 Hands-On Impressions of Batman: Arkham Asylum
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 8th of June 2009 - 11:05 PM ]
Batman: Arkham Asylum One game that seemed to be at every one of the big companies booths, sans Nintendo, was Batman Arkham Asylum. It even had it's own booth show casing it as well as an area in the Warner Brothers booth, with leather restraint chair for those who got to bonkers while checking out this game. You might be laughing, but we had to restrain Church at one point. Well he kind of just hopped into it for some reason, but this is not the point of this article. Read More...

E3 Impressions: New Super Mario Bros. Wii
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 8th of June 2009 - 09:34 PM ]
A new Mario game was anticipated by the crowd as we all filed into the Nintendo E3 Media Briefing last Tuesday.  Many, including myself, were looking for a new Super Mario Galaxy, which we did receive.  That was not until much later in the show.  Well before that announcement was the announcement of the New Super Mario Bros. Wii.  More of a party game than a solo adventure, though it could be played that way, New Super Mario Bros. Read More...

E3 Impressions: Singularity
by Ben Brody [ Monday, 8th of June 2009 - 08:15 PM ]
In mathematics, singularity theory is the study of the failure of manifold structure (yes, that is taken from wikipedia). In the game Singularity, something definitely failed, and while I'm not sure what a manifold structure is, it sounded like a cool sentence to start off with. All this aside, Raven Software's Singularity looks like one of the best shooters coming out this year. Players will control Nate Renko, an American Air Force pilot who was sent to an island called Katorga 12 to investigate why the area was emitting irregular amounts of radiation. During his investigation, however, his plane crashes on the island. Read More...

E3 Impressions: Left 4 Dead 2
by Ben Brody [ Monday, 8th of June 2009 - 03:33 AM ]
Let's be honest, while it may be a little early to be talking sequel, all of us that played Left 4 Dead could bet the house that a second incarnation was certain. On November 17th, just 364 days after the first, Valve will release Left 4 Dead 2 for the Xbox 360 and PC. Left 4 Dead 2 takes place during the same zombie outbreak as the first game, but features a new pair of 4 survivors, Rochelle, Coach, Ellis, and Nick. While it wasn't quite clear what the new campaigns were apart from the fact that it will take place in the South US (the game starts in Savannah and ends in New Orleans), Scott Dalton, a level designer on the game, said that more of the story will be explored, including the reason for the outbreak. Valve made sure to fix many complaints of the original game, and tweaks are apparent during the demo. Read More...
