Stay on Target...Stay on Target...
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 12th of January 2010 - 05:51 PM ]
I'm a Star Wars fan. and I'm also a huge MMO fan.  So since the announcement of Star Wars the Old Republic the MMO, I have been digging and watching everything I can to get anything I can about this game.EA CEO John Riccitiello had a conference call and a press release to update their future fiscal prospect in 2010 yesterday (numbers, numbers, blah, blah, blah).  As you all know EA is a powerhouse this year and has tons of games heading for the shelves this year, and it's going to be hell to catch up with them all (but stay tuned because we will cover them).  John Riccitiello did give us a bit of news that had ears around the internet buzzing:"One key driver is going to be the launch date of our major MMO. CES 2010: Tritton Technologies
by Brian Bentley [ Saturday, 9th of January 2010 - 02:26 PM ]
Here at CES 2010, we had the opportunity to stop by and visit with Tritton Technologies to see the "next big thing" in gaming headsets.  Tritton's Aaron Smith took us around the booth giving us a guided tour of the AX-180, AX-720 and the AX-Pro.  He was kind enough to suffer through our questions and a video recording.  The did not have their upcoming release of a wireless version of the AX-180 at this show, but look for it at PAX East.  So, take a gander at the video Binh recorded and leave your comments on the products below. Steam Achievements Added to Torchlight
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 23rd of December 2009 - 04:35 PM ]
We, as humans, are a competitive, goal-oriented species.  The category of humans known as gamers are characteristically more so.  So when little goals outside of the main game play were created on platforms this console generation (Achievements on Xbox 360 and Steam, trophies on the PS3), gamers took to them with a ferocity only matched by the public's outrage to the release of Coke 2.  The obsession with achievements has grown to the point that people will go out of their way to grind away for hours, simply to have the tiny extrinsic award.  As a bit of an afterthought and most likely a reward to the fans, last week Runic Games released over 60 achievements that may be earned on Steam for their critically acclaimed action-RPG Torchlight. What I Want: Rock Band Franchise
by Michael Camacho [ Monday, 14th of December 2009 - 12:47 AM ]
What I Want: From the Rock Band Franchise Recently I played Beatles: Rock Band and Lego Rock Band, and while one was looking back at a band's career and the other was geared to a younger crowd, they both did something that really caught my attention. They had a story, not just creating a band and playing songs at venues. You actually had a story to some gigs or had special concerts you held. I came to an instant revelation at this point. Chuck Brings the Pain to Your Mobile Device: Review
by Kevin [ Thursday, 10th of December 2009 - 05:07 AM ]
One of the few game developers that has never ceased to amaze me is Gameloft. I don't know what their development philosophy is, but it has consistently led to some great gaming experiences on mobile devices. To be perfectly honest, Chuck Norris: Bring On The Pain continues in that trend, turning the worn jokes concerning our favorite Texas Ranger into a pretty entertaining game.Over at the official site, Gameloft gives some insight as to what you are in for: "Step into the boots of America’s toughest man in the first Chuck Norris game available for your iPhone and iPod touch. A brilliantly outlandish scenario sets you, Chuck Norris, in the Cambodian jungle to release prisoners of war held hostage by a rogue army of Communist soldiers. Read More...

A Whole New Medal of Honor
by Binh Nguyen [ Wednesday, 2nd of December 2009 - 09:02 PM ]
Are you ready for another Medal of Honor game? Well it has been a while since we have seen action in the Medal of Honor universe. What if I told you that this Medal of Honor won’t take place in World War II, but instead it takes place in modern era?  Electronic Arts Inc. announced today that in 2010 an all-new Medal of Honor will introduce the Tier 1 Operator, a relatively unknown entity directly under the National Command Authority who takes on missions no one else can handle. EA has been working closely with Tier 1 Operators from the US Special Operations Community since the earliest stages of development to create the most authentic modern war experience. Greg Goodrich, Executive Producer of Medal of Honor had this to say, “When we first set out to reinvent Medal of Honor, we wanted to stay true to its roots of authenticity and respect for the soldier, but bring it into today’s war. Runic Games Releases Highly Anticipated Torchlight Editor
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 12th of November 2009 - 03:05 PM ]
This is not a review of the editor, though if you are looking for my review of the single player, click here. The highly anticipated level editor for Torchlight was released on Wednesday night by Runic Games.  Aptly named TorchED, Runic is giving players a chance to really delve into the world of Torchlight and get their hands dirty with as many ember-enriched assets as they can.  The editor is lock-and-loaded with everything in the game and then some.  I'm serious when I say everything. A Mass Amount of Content?
by Kevin [ Saturday, 7th of November 2009 - 01:45 AM ]
There's no real way to hide from a collector's edition. Every game is going to have one, and if you disagree - it's only because you have yet to find it. Mark my words. This edition is supposed to be limited in quantities, though I would wager that there will somehow be more copies trickling in after the initial rush. The fun'o'plenty pack is going to have a tin case, a hard cover "Art of Mass Effect 2" book, an issue from the Mass Effect Redemption comic and a behind-the-scenes DVD. Bioware is also saying that there will be unique in-game weapons and armor that can only be obtained by purchasing this edition. Read More...

Review: Torchlight
by Brian Bentley [ Friday, 6th of November 2009 - 04:30 PM ]
There are times in any gamer’s life when you find yourself blearily looking for a clock, attempting to adjust your eyes to read the time. You find yourself trying to comprehend how the time reported is much later than the internal clock in your head. How much time have you lost? Minutes? Hours? If Runic Games is using that time as a measure of success of their recently released Action-RPG Torchlight, there must be a party in Washington every night! The story begins in the small mining village of Torchlight. Ember, a mineral of extraordinary power (and possible corruption) was found in a nearby mine. Read More...

Earthworm Jim Whips It Good!
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 19th of October 2009 - 11:02 PM ]
I remember Jim. The funny earthworm with bionic suit that made so many tounge-in-cheek jokes I could hardly stand it. I had the action figure, I watched the cartoon. I played it on every console that it was available for. Now Jim is returning, guns and blazin', to consoles and handhelds all over the world. Cow launching, check. Laser guns, Check. Read More...
