Review: Lost Planet II
by Kevin [ Tuesday, 1st of June 2010 - 04:59 PM ]
When you start comparing Lost Planet II to its predecessor it seems like it should escape all of the pitfalls of the first title and really offer up a solid single player experience with a rich multiplayer to boot. Aside from technical issues, some slightly questionable AI and level design, it delivers. However, a word of advice: Don't bother playing the game by yourself. LP2 just doesn't seem designed for it. Review: Alan Wake
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 17th of May 2010 - 09:09 PM ]
If you follow me at all on here it should be no surprise that I have not seen much of a difference between Alan Wake and Silent Hill. At least that's my opinion from the viewpoint of the screen shots, trailers and the most recent live action Bright Falls series. I mean, they look so very similar. If you don't think so, then you should have your brain examined. Well, I was just recently able to give Alan Wake a good play through. A really good play through so I could contrast and compare between this new IP and the "older" Silent Hill IP. Read More...

It Is Official, LittleBigPlanet 2 Revealed
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 10th of May 2010 - 05:36 PM ]
It looks like the time has come. The time to wheel out the next big thing to come along with Sony's Move. No, not the ever-pushed-off US version of the Eye Pet, but the sequel to end all sequels, until another sequel comes out. Officially now, LittleBigPlanet 2 has been announced and with it came along with a little fun trailer. A trailer to show off some of the upgrades that have been done to their game platform and how a whole new generation of banned levels can look and feel. I will say that some of the promises shown and talked about in this reveal trailer are kind of interesting and all huge steps for those that dream to be level designers to show off their skills. Alan Wake Is Already A Hero In Bright Falls?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 29th of April 2010 - 02:08 PM ]
So, as promised, below are the first two episodes 0f the prequel to Alan Wake. Something I was hoping would clarify the differences between Alan Wake and Silent Hill for me. They look so damn close in style, world and gameplay for me, and I'm most likely forgetting others as well. So let's see what Remedy has in store for us to see the differences for the story. That has got to be where they differ, which would be perfect for me. Let's start by watching episode one of the prequel. Read More...

Silent Hill 2... Er I Mean Alan Wake Live Action
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 26th of April 2010 - 02:53 AM ]
What you are about to see is not a preview to some new horror film. Nor is it the preview for the film adaptation of Silent Hill 2. So please do not get confused when you watch it. What is it a preview for then? The below video/preview is for the prequel story to Silent Hill Alan Wake. A game that has cause a bit of stir between the media and its developers. Why it hasn't caused any strife between Konami and Remedy yet, I don't know. What I do know is that on Tuesday (4/27), if you are not an XBox Live member, you will be able to check out the first episode over at http://brightfalls. Read More...

Alan Wake Developer 'Disappointed' By The Media
by Brian Goodman [ Monday, 19th of April 2010 - 09:15 PM ]
The managing director of Remedy Games, Matias Myllyrine has reportedly tweeted today that he is disappointed that gameplay footage of Alan Wake has been leaked. To quote, "Game journalism is not about playing a game in ten minute segments and posting random quality videos on the net. Disappointed." Okay here is why he's full of it and also why Alan Wake will suck. You may or may not have read yesterday my feelings about the necessity of a delicate balance between business and art in games. The reality is that video games are a product. Read More...

Splinter Cell's Departure From Stealth Is Due To Accessibility
by Brian Goodman [ Wednesday, 14th of April 2010 - 12:20 AM ]
In an interview with Edge magazine Max Beland, new (as of 2008) Ubisoft Montreal executive describes how many people found the stealth based gameplay of previous Splinter Cell titles, mainly Chaos Theory and Double Agent, too much for the casual crowd. Despite high critical praise of past entries in the series, Beland feels that the way to more people's game libraries and to expand the Splinter Cell brand is to focus more on brutal action sequences and less on specific stealth, which he referred to as "good and fun stealth gameplay, but its hardcore." Refresh my memory but when did exciting, intense stealth based action games start being marketed to the Guitar Hero crowd? I enjoy my casual titles as much as the next person, but it sets a very dangerous precedent when major developers and publishers begin changing proven, unique, and popular gameplay mechanics to try and take a "hardcore" property to a more "casual", mainstream crowd. Little IncrediBig Planet
by Kevin [ Tuesday, 30th of March 2010 - 06:03 PM ]
There are few things more disarmingly cute than the sack population of LittleBigPlanet. They have had many "guests" come through their game, including the Pirates of the Carribean, the comedic antics of the Ghostbusters, the vengeance soaked Ezio from Assassin's Creed II, the borderline confusing narrative prowess of the Watchmen, the grizzled veterans of the Metal Gear Solid series, and many more. Well, coming April 8th Pixar is diving into the fray with The Incredibles pack for the LittleBigStore. The Playstation Blog proclaims, fairly proudly that, "This huge pack features NINE costumes: all of The Incredibles family (including a “Retro” Mr. Read More...

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier In Real Life
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 30th of March 2010 - 01:40 PM ]
Looks like Ubisoft might be gearing up to go into feature films, or at least shorts sometime soon. First they do a live action short based on all the beginning story to Assassin's Creed II. Something that was produced very well and added quite a bit of extra content to the overall experience of the game. At least it did for me. But the Assassin's Creed short looks like it was just the tip of the iceberg for Ubisoft's short films. Read More...

Pea-shooting Zombies On The Go With iPhone/iPod
by Binh Nguyen [ Wednesday, 17th of February 2010 - 12:34 PM ]
Plants vs. Zombies was one of the 2009 most played games for the PC, especially for those at Aggrogamer.com. PopCap Games has announced today that they will be releasing the game for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Plants vs. Zombies will be available now at the Apple’s App Store for $2.99. Andrew Stein, Director of Mobile platforms from PopCap Games made the following comment, “Plants vs. Zombies for iPhone and iPod Touch marks the first adaptation of our wildly popular ‘flower defense’ game to a new platform, and we’re excited at how well it has translated to the iPhone and iPod touch. We’ve stayed true to the original computer version with the full-featured gameplay of Adventure mode, and have optimized this adaptation around a seamless touch interface. Read More...

Silent Hill: Alan Wake?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Saturday, 13th of February 2010 - 05:05 PM ]
If you have not heard yet, an official release date range has been given for Alan Wake. Something you will have heard about once you watch the below trailer for the game just loosed on us from X10. Which was something that was quite the buzz when it hit. It was all over Twitter once it became public. Well I will have to say, after watching the below trailer, I am wishy washy on Alan Wake. It looks almost like a Silent Hill clone. Read More...

Who Wants Four Min Of Lost Planet 2 Goodness?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 28th of January 2010 - 03:31 PM ]
I bet you are getting tired of all of the these trailers by now. No? Good, because here is yet another one to keep up with Mass Effect 2, BioShock 2, and Heavy Rain. This time it is from Lost Planet 2 and it is in more of an episode style that Capcom has been pumping out for the game. Kind of like a small mini-series for Lost Planet than just a trailer. Which is a nice change of pace. As long as they don't give up too much of the game's story and action. Read More...

“Play, Create, Share” is the motto for the newest Playstation Portable game Little Big Planet PSP. We all know how Little Big Planet when released for the Playstation 3; winning awards left and right and managing to win Game of the Year in many publications like GamePro, Edge and Eurogamer. Well let us utilize the motto to explore the PSP version of Little Big Planet. “Play”: Little Big Planet PSP is in no way a port from the PS3 to the PSP. Read More...
