Interview With Obsidian's Chris Avellone
by Fred Buell [ Wednesday, 20th of March 2013 - 06:33 PM ]
The last few months I have been emailing back and forth with Chris Avellone; Co-Founder of Obsidian Entertainment; conducting an interview over email. This has culminated in one of the most in-depth, and amazing interviews I have done, or seen anywhere. Enjoy. Aggrogamer: First let's talk about the old days. You started off at Black Isle with Brian Fargo and a lot of the guys at Obsidian working on the Fallout titles and some of the Gold Seal DnD games. How was it helping shape modern RPGs at the time? Pre-PAX East Speculations
by Fred Buell [ Monday, 18th of March 2013 - 11:21 PM ]
With PAX East less than a week away let's get a look at everything going down this coming weekend. Firstly, we have the recently re-announced Saints Row 4 from Volition and their new owners Deep Silver. Nothing about this game aside from the release date and a fluff trailer has been shown. What do you expect from the newest installment of the Saints franchise? Personally I expect the game to be even more insane, with hopefully a deeper customization, as I felt Saints Row III pulled back a bit from we had in Saints Row II. Also, Deep Silver is showing off the new installment of Dead Island franchise, Dead Island: Riptide. Read More...

Deadpool: The Game Is Looking Funnier And Even More Awesome
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 11th of March 2013 - 08:51 PM ]
Talk about a title that I can't wait to play, mainly for the story and humor. Deadpool looks more and more up my alley with each new trailer for the game. They are just everything that makes the 'Merc with a Mouth' who he is. The following new trailer does not disappoint as well. Well outside of showing some of the game's actually mechanics and game play. I'd be lying if I wasn't interested in how Deadpool will actually handle in game. Also, it would be nice to know what else we get to do in the game outside of crazy combat and gun slinging. Read More...

Assassin's Creed IV Accidentally Then Officially Announced
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 4th of March 2013 - 07:45 PM ]
It has been made official; Assassin's Creed IV is coming just about a year after AC3 has landed. It was originally rumored with the below trailer teasing it last week, but since the cat was let out of the bag it looks like Ubisoft isn't keeping it hidden any more. The video is now to be considered the official announcement of AC4 along with the release date of November 1st 2013. That adds another title to the PS4's launch lineup it would seem. Now for the interesting part, it looks like Ubisoft is breaking from the theme of traveling forward in history with each new AC title as we will be playing during the time of Blackbeard. Read More...

by Kenton Winkfield [ Tuesday, 26th of February 2013 - 11:10 PM ]
Square Enix had a big announcement today about everyone's favorite Final Fantasy/Disney crossover. Unfortunately, it wasn't the highly anticipated Kingdom Hearts 3. Kingdom Hearts fans around the world collectively sigh in disappointment as they read about Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix, set to release Fall of 2013. It is a compilation for the PlayStation 3 featuring Kingdom Hearts Final Mix; Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories; and story cut scenes from Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. The games will also have trophies, giving all players, old and new, even more reasons to play Kingdom Hearts. Read More...

Review: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Saturday, 23rd of February 2013 - 12:06 AM ]
When one hears anything Metal Gear you usually think "Tactical Espionage" style of game. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance deviates from that to an extreme, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. While it all takes place in the same game universe, MGR:R tries a bit of difference with an action packed style of game play. How does it work out? Well read on. Read More...

Review: Dead Space 3
by Irene Collazo [ Monday, 11th of February 2013 - 05:38 PM ]
Isaac Clarke is back for round three of limb dismembering, skull stomping, and vigorous shimmy shaking action against the Necromorphs we all love to hate. Oh, but he was dragged into it for the sake of mankind. Once again, Unitologists decide to cause an outbreak of Necromorphs because they’re simply crazy and suicidal. That’s just my opinion. Dead Space 3 is somewhat different from the first two games which threw me off for the first hour of game play. Read More...

Let's Look At The Game Play Of The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 7th of February 2013 - 11:12 PM ]
Now that we've all hopefully had time to wrap the story heavy version of the franchise, it's time we looked at the action FPS version with The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. The Activision/Terminal Reality game coming out here in a month's time. Not much has been said or shown until now, but it is well known to be a FPS and feature the story of two of the AMC TV Show only characters. I'm talking the Dixon brothers in case you haven't been up on the details since its initial announcement. If you look below we have what is called the "Game Play" trailer for the game. Read More...

Killer Is Dead Trailer
by Matt Waitt [ Monday, 21st of January 2013 - 09:58 PM ]
The guys over at Grasshopper Manufacture have released the first trailer for their upcoming game titled Killer Is Dead. The trailer features a lot of blood and a lot of Japanese language. Thankfully there are subtitles. Killer is Dead is about a thirty-five year old assassin named "Mondo Zappa." Mondo works for an undercover organization called "Brian Execution Firm." The firm sends Mondo across a "near-future Earth" where space tourism and Cybernetics are the norm, and where Mondo must execute a crap load of criminals. Cyborgs, Androids, and Sword Play? Games We Are Looking Forward To In 2013
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 18th of December 2012 - 05:48 PM ]
With the end of the year coming soon and the end of the world coming sooner, I thought now would be a good time to show off some of the games we're most excited for. So let's get right into the goods. First off we have the third installment to the amazingly beautiful franchise of Crysis, with Crysis 3. Developed by Crytek and Published by EA, Crysis 3 takes place twenty-four years after the events of Crysis 2. Players will be taking the role of Prophet again as he returns to New York. Read More...

Review: Call Of Duty: Black Ops II
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 26th of November 2012 - 05:20 PM ]
It's that time of year again. Time for the annual installment of the Call of Duty franchise. Time for the follow up to Black Op appropriately given the sequel moniker of 2. With all of that, let's see how it held up compared to all the others of the past. At least as it goes in the Campaign Mode. Story It's a foreseeable future and there is a "cyber" terrorist gearing up to bring the major super powers to their knees over something that happened in the past. The past being the mid 80's just for reference. It is up to a Special Forces team to figure out what is going, stop it from happening, and capture the mastermind behind everything. Read More...

Eight Years Of World Of Warcraft
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 20th of November 2012 - 06:44 PM ]
On November 23rd, World Of Warcraft will be celebrating its eighth birthday. A major feat for any game. Released back in 2004, World of Warcraft (or WoW) has come a long way, and not just in the literal sense. Since its release, WoW has seen over ten million subscribers, four expansions, over 1500 achievements, and enough quests to last you nearly a decade. I first started playing WoW in September of 2009. My first character ever was a Night Elf Rogue and I explored the lush forests of Teldrasil in my first fifteen levels. Read More...

Review: Wreck-It Ralph
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 30th of October 2012 - 10:41 PM ]
For the last few months we've all been bombarded with ads and trailers for Disney's upcoming Wreck-It Ralph. A film that looks like it will do to video games what Toy Story did to toys. But how well is the question? Well sit back and enjoy our review of Wreck-It Ralph. The Story: 'Wreck-It' Ralph is the villain of a 'retro' game in an arcade who is pretty much crapped on for being the villain. He hates it. Who wouldn't? Read More...

Challenge Mode Armor Updates For Mist Of Pandaria
by Matt Waitt [ Wednesday, 24th of October 2012 - 07:01 PM ]
The new feature in World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria called "Challenge Mode Dungeons" offer some very cool Transmogable gear. Transmog aka Xmog is changing the look of your gear with another piece of gear while saving the same stats. So Gear A will look like gear B but still has the stats of gear A. But now Blizzard has announced that all of the Challenge Mode gear sets will have a "use" ability to them, giving each class a unique flare to their awesome new gear. For those of you who don't know; Challenge Mode Dungeons are Heroic dungeons on crack. Read More...

Why So Serious?
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 23rd of October 2012 - 10:27 PM ]
I think the Joker summed up the past few years of video games quite well, with his famous saying "Why So Serious!?" It seems that today's industry has dropped the light-hearted and comical games of yester-years for a more gritty, hardcore, and serious tone. While I'm not saying these "serious" games are bad, I am saying that a break from them would be much appreciated. Video games are not all about world wars, political sabotaging, or saving the world from a cliché ultimate evil. We came from a very humble beginning, a beginning of stomping on weird brown monsters, using rainbows to squash bugs, and controlling fat pink things that suck up anything in their path. Read More...
