Delays incoming
by Corey Dockendorf [ Saturday, 5th of December 2009 - 05:10 PM ]
The New Year is just around the corner, and players are anxiously awaiting a slew of games to be released in the 1rst quarter.  Well unfortunately some of the heavy hitters that were planned on being released have been announced as pushed back until later next year. Bethesda's shooter Brink which was scheduled to be released in spring of 2010, got pushed back to a fall release for all platforms.  Brink is the Splash Damage title that we have seen a few snippets of lately.  G4 just recently posted a new video on the title, highlighting the Smart Freedom of Movement system. by Ben Brody [ Friday, 4th of December 2009 - 09:19 PM ]
Today, December 3, 2009 marks the 15th anniversary of Sony's PlayStation line. The timeline goes as followed:1994: Release of PlayStation 12000: Release of PlayStation 22005: Release of PlayStationPortable2006: Release of PlayStation 3There were a bunch of Slims in there as well, but those aren't really new consoles, just redesigned consoles. The 15 years has been kind to Sony who previous to getting into the game industry was known for it's TV equipment. Sony's Beta player had given LaserDisc and VHS a run for their money, and their TV's were considered second to none. Read More…

Review: God of War Collection - GoW
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 4th of December 2009 - 05:41 PM ]
With the lack of backwards compatibility on the current age PS3 units, it was starting to look like there was no way for new users to play their classic games as the technology became more economically available. This being the case, it looked like some great classic games would get purged from households to make way for the new technology. But you can't keep a great classic down, and it was decided to produce a version of one to make it through to the modern tech. Much like the great Greek Tales, God of War and God of War II do just the same with the God of War Collection. Read More…

A Whole New Medal of Honor
by Binh Nguyen [ Wednesday, 2nd of December 2009 - 09:02 PM ]
Are you ready for another Medal of Honor game? Well it has been a while since we have seen action in the Medal of Honor universe. What if I told you that this Medal of Honor won’t take place in World War II, but instead it takes place in modern era?  Electronic Arts Inc. announced today that in 2010 an all-new Medal of Honor will introduce the Tier 1 Operator, a relatively unknown entity directly under the National Command Authority who takes on missions no one else can handle. EA has been working closely with Tier 1 Operators from the US Special Operations Community since the earliest stages of development to create the most authentic modern war experience. Greg Goodrich, Executive Producer of Medal of Honor had this to say, “When we first set out to reinvent Medal of Honor, we wanted to stay true to its roots of authenticity and respect for the soldier, but bring it into today’s war. Review: Assassin\'s Creed Bloodlines
by Ben Brody [ Wednesday, 2nd of December 2009 - 05:39 PM ]
As I was about to board my flight for the trip, I thought I might pick up something to help the trip go by faster. I understood that buying inside the airport usually meant higher prices, but I managed to find a reasonably priced PSP Assassin's Creed Bloodlines bundle, which came with the game, a Silver PSP-3000, a code redeemable for a DLC version of Angels and Demons, and a 2gb memory stick. Sure, I already had the PSP-1000 and I did know that the 3000's screens were crap at best, but I decided to get one anyhow seeing as that my launch unit's screen was fairly beaten up, scratched, and the fact that the audio only worked through the headphones as the speakers had found a way to stop working about 2 weeks before. Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed isn't new to the handheld world, Altair's Chronicles was released to the Nintendo DS and iPhone earlier, however this was the first time that they would try putting the full free-roam style gameplay on a handheld. Splatterhouse A Metaphor For Black Friday?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 1st of December 2009 - 01:33 PM ]
Just in time for the horrors we will all endure for the holiday shopping. A little something to get us all in the mood to go to the mall and deal with all the demon faced humans happy going, gift shoppers of America. A sight that, if you are lucky, will look like the below screens. Blood and creatures included. At least if you use your imaginations or go to Walmart after the ads have been placed out there. Enough jesting. Read More…

Shh. We Got Your Tron Tease. Don't Tell...
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 25th of November 2009 - 04:52 AM ]
While not overly impressive as a full video of gameplay or what is going on the game, that will come later at the VGA's, what we do have is a little sneak peek at what the video game of a movie about a killer video game may be have with in the lines of code. Yea, that was a stretch for a very lack luster attempt at a joke. In any instance, if you are interested in being teased with very little actual game play or story shots for the game part of the new film Tron, then below is something for you. It is a short promo showing off a little bit of the fact that there will be light cycles in the game. Read More…

Epic Fail, the 4th edition
by Ben Brody [ Tuesday, 24th of November 2009 - 11:36 PM ]
<rant>So awoke today to an all to familiar sight: a red ringed 360. I've had 4 red rings in 5 years, and while I most likely use my 360 more than the average user, 4 units in 5 years is unacceptable for a company who can afford to make a system that won't fail.</rant> I did a poll of my 60 some friends on Live and got 30 responses: 23 of them have had red rings, 7 of them haven't, and of those 7, 3 got theirs this year (the newest 360, which allegedly won't red ring anymore). While many polls have been done outside of mine, the results are always staggering, in some polls (like the game informer poll) gamers report that the failure rate is over 50% while some polls report around 20-25%. Anything above 10% in my mind is a completely unacceptable. Read More…

Jeff is from the Blizzard world, he worked on the programming for Diablo as well as StarCraft. He also formed the initial development team and was the lead programmer for World of Warcraft in '99. Nintendo Priming DSi Holiday Sales Explosion
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 23rd of November 2009 - 09:59 PM ]
There are two things that people love and totally go gaga over: Special Editions and Free Stuff. Today, Nintendo announced that this holiday season, the Nintendo DSi will have BOTH starting on Black Friday. Starting on Friday, the DSi will be sold in two new special edition packages that will contain the portable device in one of two colors -- White or Metallic Blue -- as well as have 5 DSiWare titles pre-loaded. The metallic blue DSi has a Mario theme with various games and apps, while the white DSi goes for a more Brain Age slant. The people down at Nintendo of America have squashed any notion of a slow-down or over-saturation of the portable device market. Read More…
