Review: Eagle Eye Converter
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 23rd of September 2010 - 05:06 PM ]
There are a lot of FPS players out there who whole heartedly believe that the only way to play them is the way they were originally designed; with a keyboard and mouse. If you are not one of these people, I am sure that you know at least one. Pretty much all the FPS players I know are purist when it comes to controlling their shooters. But what about those shooters that come out exclusively for consoles? Or those players who do not have a PC capable of some of the higher end FPSs but have a console that can? Read More…

This Is What BioShock Infinite's Game Play Looks Like
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 22nd of September 2010 - 06:41 PM ]
The tease is finally over. Irrational Games has finally let loose the game play footage that has been seen by so few before today. Now it is open to the world in general; even though it was suppose to be only on XBox Live today and then open tomorrow. How did Irrational not think someone was going to snag the clip off their XBox to share with the rest of us fans chomping at the bit to see what new things they have come up with? Anyways, the almost ten minutes of footage looks amazing. It is hard to gauge where all of this action is taking place in the game though. Read More…

APB Servers Shut Down
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 22nd of September 2010 - 03:47 PM ]
Looks like you need more than a phenomenal character customization engine to survive in this gaming industry. All Points Bulletin servers have been shut down only three months after launch. Only a month ago Scottish game developer Real Time Worlds cut its staff down to 50 people (just enough to keep the servers running) and began looking for a possible buyer to take over APB. When no one showed up to take over the IP, it was time to let go. According to Real Time Games, APB had about 130,000 registered users with an average play time of four hours per week and averaging $28 per month. Read More…

WCG Ultimate Gamer 2: Episode 5 - Becoming Less Douchie
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 21st of September 2010 - 10:08 PM ]
Wow, it is hard to believe that we are down to almost half the cast left now, isn't it? Just one more episode and then things are suppose to get really crazy. Well, that is, if everything runs the same way it did last season. So what happened last episode in case you didn't catch it? Well read below for the recap and explanation on how things got less douchie. "Disclaimer" I will make it no secret that I tried out for this season and was not selected due to XBox Live issues during game analysis. I was only able to connect for one of the sessions, and thus disqualified. Read More…

Give Indie Games Some Love
by Brian Bentley [ Tuesday, 21st of September 2010 - 04:01 PM ]
Despite what the actual weather says or does, the summer season is about to close out for 2010. As was the case the last summer, independent developers have once again formed a coalition to digitally distribute their work to the masses in an attempt to fight hunger - most likely their own. In all seriousness, this is an excellent chance to get your hands on some fantastic indie titles and put money directly in the hands of the men and women putting their livelihoods on the line to push the envelope of innovation in gaming. You can pick up last year's six games in the Classic pack, this year's new six games in the summer pack or all twelve games in the Mega-Love Pack for $20, $20 and $30, respectively. It's only until Wednesday so get out your wallets immediately! Read More…

Always Look On The 'Light' Side Of Life
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 20th of September 2010 - 06:29 PM ]
Today's developer diary from BioWare highlights Star Wars: The Old Republic's Jedi class, giving us a brief look into class versatility and the separate experiences players will get through both of the sub-classes, Knight and Consular. You don't necessarily have to be the goody goody Jedi (although you can), you will have options to play the more forceful and vengeful Jedi as well. From this video we also can see how diverse the Jedi class is, from playing the sneaky rogue style of game play, or straight on damage dealer, Jedi have a little of something for everyone. The Lightsaber battles are probably the largest parts of the Star Wars series, and by the look of this video, BioWare seems to be putting that extra polish on, and making sure players get the full Lightsaber dueling experience. So, what do you get when you take a video game company and you team it up with a automotive company? You begin entertaining the possibility of a new vehicle that will come to life. Reported from G4tv.com that was released by The Wall Street Journal, that Activison will be teaming up with Chrysler to possibly release the “Hero” themed Jeep that will be in Call of Duty: Black Ops. Oh, yet another way for Activison to suck even more money out of us. Slavers Are Not The Only Enemy In Enslaved
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 16th of September 2010 - 06:57 PM ]
That is something that you should have already known though if you've followed Enslaved: Odyssey to the West with a fraction of the attention I have. But I figured that I would hook you all up with the new look at the robots that will be the main enemies for Monkey and Trip as they venture west to get Trip back home. It is getting even closer to the Terminator, and most likely our own, future will be in the number of robots that will control humans. You know it will happen even with all of our warning movies and stories. Read More…

Dead Space Is No Longer A Solo Horror
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 15th of September 2010 - 08:13 PM ]
Generally in a survival horror game, the protagonist is left isolated and alone for the game with only getting a few "human" interactions along the way to help drive the progression of the game. Think back and see that I am right on this. Are you done? Good. That said, doesn't this seem the age of multiplayer for multiplayer's sake lately? So it should seem no real shock that another great survival horror - in this case Dead Space 2 - has taken on the need for multiplayer. Not a first for the franchise if you think back to the Wii rail-shooter Dead Space: Extraction, but that wasn't truly a survival horror, was it? Read More…

Not The Kind Of Blood Drive You'd Expect
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 14th of September 2010 - 07:56 PM ]
Hey zombie fans who also play video games! Activision has a brand new IP for all of our XBoxes and PS3s coming out this November. Yea, just in time to miss Halloween, but still another "new" IP for us to drop our hard earned cash on. Here's what Blood Drive is all about. In Blood Drive, contestants must use their motorized death steeds of steel in a televised game show where drivers battle each other and hordes of revolting flesh eaters in an all-out fight to the death. Face undead frat boys, cops, strippers and bachelorette partiers, each with their own special brand of death and devastation – and ways to die! While these rotting monsters wander the streets of a desert sin city craving sweet, succulent brains, your enemies have come equipped battle hardened armed vehicles, including heavily weaponized muscle cars, hot rods, and more.
