Zombies Ate My Neighbors (1993)
A loveable run and gun zombie game that came out for the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo. Developed by LucasArts and published by Konami.
- Featuring over forty horrifyingly fun and difficult stages.
- Zombies, Zombies, ZOMBIES!!!
- Huge arsenal: Weed Whacker, Silverware, Super Soakers, Six-Pack of Soda, Holy Cross, etc…
You pick between two characters: Zeke, and Julie. You navigate through the suburbs, malls, pyramids, haunted castles, deserts, and a variety of other places trying to save your neighbors. There are a ton of enemy varieties in game as well: Vampires, Werewolves, Giant Demon Babies, Squidmen, Evil Dolls, Aliens, Giant Ants, and of course: Zombies. Your main weapon is a Squirt gun, but you pick up other weapons along the way: Bazooka, Silverware, Chest of Wonders, etc. There is also a potion that turns you into an invincible demonic beast that kills almost everything in one punch.
I would love to see a remake or a sequel of this with an M rating. Tons of blood and gore, maybe have it be 3rd person or 1st person shooter? But definitely keep the "stage" layout, and have a lot of them. LucasArts, Konami, We at AggroGamer want another Zombies Ate Our Neighbors.
Battle Clash (1992)
A rail shooter using the "Super Scope" for Super Nintendo. Developed and published by Nintendo.
- Mechs…need I say more?
- Good old fashioned rail shooting.
- Mechs…did I mention that?
You take control of the gunner seat of the ST Falcon; your job is to help the main character: Mike, avenge his father's death and restore peace and order to the world. Mike drives the Falcon while you shoot the enemy mechs. I forget how many levels there are, but this game was amazing back in the day. The only way I can describe it, is to show you a video on it.
With today's motion controls, it makes perfect sense to come out with another Battle Clash.
Nightmare Creatures (1997)
A survival horror game for PlayStation and PC. Developed by Kalisto Entertainment and published by Activision.
- A pretty cool 19th century gothic horror story.
- Atmosphere that made you buy some diapers.
- Freaky and downright scary looking enemies.
With today's graphics this could easily be turned into another "Dead Space" just, without the "Space" part and more of the "19th century London" part. Kalisto Entertainment released a sequel to Nightmare Creatures in 2000, and a 3rd one was on its way but quickly fell into development hell and then later scrapped due to the companies legal issues. Konami, if you still got the rights to this game, please make it happen.
Legend Of Kain: Soul Reaver (1999)
An action-adventure game developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Eidos Interactive.
- A vampire that turns into a Wraith: WIN.
- Puzzles, that are fun and hard.
- Hack and Slash combat with awesome finishing moves.
If you owned a PS1 then you whole heartedly agree with me that Soul Reaver needs another installment this game was so epic back in the day, and sitting here year after year with no new Soul Reaver news whatsoever is killing me! This game could easily be remade into another masterpiece of the current generation. Crystal Dynamics, if you can hear us, please after you finish tomb raider work on another Soul Reaver.
Ghosts'n Goblins (1985)
An old school platformer published and developed by Capcom
- A variety of difficult levels and enemies.
- Sir Arthur, the knight who runs around in his undies.
- Who can forget that soul crushing "ending" ? "A trap devised by Satan".
With Sir Arthur making a recent appearance in Marvel VS Capcom 3, it has reignited a fire inside for another adventure with Sir Arthur. I can see it now, amazing platforming with beautiful / cartoony graphics and an insane amount of difficulty. It's been far too long since a Ghosts'n Goblins game came out, I think it's time Capcom resurrected this one.
Battletoads (1991)
The legendary platformer developed by Rare and published by Tradewest
- Rash, Zitz and Pimple...Need I say more?
- Gigantic Fists and Feet of death.
- Who doesn't love a good beat 'em up?
With Double Dragon Neon on its way to XBLA soon, I believe it's only fair that the Battletoads get themselves an update as well. Maybe even have a "Battletoads&Double Dragon Part 2" either way, I think this game definitely deserves an update.
MegaMan X (1993)
One of the greatest games on the greatest system ever. Developed and Published by Capcom.
- Groundbreaking (at the time) Mechanics and Controls (Wall climbing, dashing, charge shots, epic boss fights).
- Best Music in a Video Game Ever.
- Beautiful graphics, stages and amazing bosses.
Now I don't mean the original MegaMan X getting a remake but rather another MegaMan X game, with the same graphics and whatnot. Like how Megaman 9 and 10 were done for XBLA. I think we could all really enjoy another installment in this amazing franchise.
Earthworm Jim (1994)
The loveable goof of a hero and his quest to save Princess "WhatsHerName" from the clutches of Queen "SlugForAButt" Developed by Shiny Entertainment and Published by Sega
- Amazing music by the legendary Tommy Tallarico.
- Fun and memorable characters and levels (Evil the Cat, Major Mucus, Lorenso's Soil, Puppy Love).
- Variations of game play (Competitive Bungee Jumping, Underwater Mazes, and racing).
With Earthworm Jim HD coming to XBLA back in 2010 I guess you can give the argument that this doesn't need another installment, but I beg to differ. With the last "real" installment coming out in 1999 and being a complete disaster, I think it's time for Earthworm Jim's redemption.
Chrono Trigger (1995)
The legendary RPG for the Super Nintendo, Developed and Published by Squaresoft (now Square Enix)
- Art by Akira Toriyama (Dragonball, Dragonball Z).
- 13 different endings.
- One of the best stories in a video game ever.
With Chrono Cross in 1999 not being a direct sequel, I think everyone could enjoy a "Chrono Trigger 2" one of the thirteen endings has a huge setup for a sequel. All of us have been eagerly waiting for about seventeen or so years now.
The Legend of Dragoon (1999)
A great "introduction" to JRPG's developed and published by Sony Computer Entertainment
- An emotionally powerful story spanning over continents and takes a whopping four discs to tell.
- A nice breath of fresh air to turn based combat with the "Addition" and "Dragoon" systems.
- Amazing music and beautiful scenery.
This game is a huge hit or miss for most people, but there is a huge cult following in North America. (Legend of Dragoon sold almost a million copies as of 2007 in NA) With the recent news of a sequel once being in development, it saddens me that this magnificent game still has not gotten a remake, prequel or even a sequel.
Rapid Fire List: (10 Games I feel should also get a sequel, but I'm lazy and don't feel like writing more)
- Contra (1988)
- Jet Force Gemini (1999)
- Turok (1997) (An actual good one, not the crappy ones from Xbox 360 and PS2)
- Wizards and Warriors (1987)
- Black (2006)
- StarFox (1993) (With the last installment coming out on the GameCube and not really being that good, I feel this franchise needs to go back to its roots and make another epic game like StarFox 64)
- Gauntlet Legends (1999) (I know the original was released on the NES / Arcade and the most recent was for PS2 in 2005. But Seven Sorrows was lacking in a lot of features that made the originals so great)
- Dark Cloud (2001)
- The Mark of Kri / Rise of The Kasai (2002 / 2005)
- Time Splitters (2000)
Any other games you guys feel should have another installment? Let me know by putting a comment below.
