Well that was quick! Rift, the latest MMO by Trion Worlds and SyFy channel has been out for less than a month and already we are getting a major content release from them. On March 30th, Alsbeth began her reign of terror on Telara, and it ain't pretty. Ok, well not really the Silver Surfer himself in Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 but what looks an awful lot like Galactus has turned the "Villains" of the game into "Heralds" of some sort. I mean if you watch the trailer and look at the screen shots below you get to see "Silver" Wesker, Dr Doom, Dormammu and Akuma do everything the planet eater asks of them. In this case it looks like they are asked to be the first wave of attack against which ever hero team you have brought to stop Galactus from eating the Earth. Ok, so here is a nice little twist to things on the MvC3 front. It looks like there is a bit more DLC already planned after launch of the game. This DLC won't be new characters, but it will bring new challengers to the table. New challengers in the form of a Shadow Mode for the game. What is Shadow Mode? It is a way that Capcom can allow users at home to download AI opponents programmed after the techniques and preferences of Capcom's development staff and famous players from the fighting game scene. This past weekend gave us the 6th beta test for Rift, the latest MMO title by Trion games. Probably one of the more successful stress tests I've seen so far. Now not even 24 hours after the beta closed we get news that an open beta will be available starting next week! Not only that, there is loot to be had for those brave enough to delve deep into the dungeons! Players who can defeat ANY dungeon boss could be entered to win a brand new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 video card. It has been announced that Jill Valentine and Shuma-Gorath were coming to Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 as DLC for a short while now, but how are they going to look? Well I am sure your eyes have already drifted south for a second to see that we have a slew of new screen shots showcasing what you can expect the two new characters to look like and a bit of fight like. I for one am glad that they decided to go with the new Jill over the older Jill from MvC2. It kind of makes me feel like I can play as Samus as well as Jill in the game. Read More...

With less than 24 hours until the latest Rift Beta ends, Trion Worlds releases its latest three minute cinematic trailer and it looks great. If you haven't heard about Rift yet this is the latest MMO from Trion Worlds coming out March 1st 2011. Rift pits the religion vs. technology in an epic war between two factions, the Guardians and the Defiants. Now we've seen that formula more than once but the kicker here is while you're busy fighting each other another war wages on from the skies as Rifts randomly open around the world and dump big baddies all over the ground to make your life miserable. Probably the coolest thing I saw this week was a video presentation for World of Starcraft! Blizzard's World of Warcraft is the current definitive MMO. With six years of collected content, twelve million players, and three expansions, it doesn't look like WoW is going anywhere soon. Blizzard had built an empire, but to strengthen the empire's walls, it would have to rebuild itself from the inside out. For the past six years, in order for a player to reach the cap level of 80, players had to grind through some of the most grueling quests we've seen since Everquest. Looks like Blizzard did it again. World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, the latest expansion in the World of Warcraft series sold 3.3 million copies in the first 24 hours of its release. This number includes digital sales as well as in-store bought copies. Cataclysm not only rocked the world of Azeroth but also shattered its previous records. By destroying the old world of Azeroth compliments of a big angry dragon made of fire and metal. Two months ago the company known as Realtime Worlds announced that the First-Person-Shooter-MMO All Points Bulletin was shutting down, and being laid to rest. Many people fought to get their money back, and EA was pretty cool about the whole thing. Not knowing if it would ever be revived, rumors started flying that companies around the globe were looking at buying APB and its fate was held in the balance.
