Looks Like Microsoft My Be Bringing Your RoomAlive
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 6th of October 2014 - 09:00 PM ]
There is a new tech demo that shows off an augmented reality system in the works call RoomAlive from Microsoft I remember not that long ago that Microsoft was using the Kinect to create a form of Augmented Reality in our living rooms. The project was called IllumiRoom for those who don't remember or have a strong Google-Fu. The idea behind it would be that by using the Kinect and a video projector you could expand out the screen of your game to add an extra level of immersion. The Kinect would 'scan' the area to get a digital mapping of your play space so that the projector could properly display no matter the contours or set up of anyone's living room or gaming space. HEXO+ Makes That Razer April Fools' Joke A Reality
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 30th of June 2014 - 07:00 PM ]
HEXO+, a Kickstarted camera accessory, has been funded and it looks like it is making that Razer April Fools' joke happen If you remember back in April, Razer made a joke about a drone that would film all of your life events and even make you feel like you were in a video game. That was the joke but it looks like with the HEXO+ Kickstarter almost reaching its last stretch goal with 15 days to go, we are getting just that device. While the HEXO+ wasn't originally designed for that purpose the first two stretch goals would allow for just that; a live video playback on your phone and the ability to set up specific angles. While Razer made the joke, HEXO+ looks to be making that amazing idea a reality. Read More...

New Trailer For Transformers: Rise Of The Dark Spark
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 19th of May 2014 - 05:00 PM ]
A new trailer for Transformers: Rise Of The Dark Spark has hit the web showing off quite a bit of fun gameplay. Do you know how close we are to the launch of Transformers: Rise Of The Dark Spark? About a month away now and the game was only officially announced back in February. I am sure that Edge Of Reality, the new studio working on the franchise, has been working long and hard before that but it is still crazy to think that the game is coming out on June 24th already and there is still so little to know about Transformers: Rise Of The Dark Spark outside of it taking place in the same War For Cybertron setting. I just hope that Activision hasn't turned the somewhat decent franchise into a full on movie tie-in kind of thing. Let's watch the new trailer for Transformers: Rise Of The Dark Spark and see. April Fools: Razer Jokes About Something I Dreamt Up As A Child With Eidolon
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 1st of April 2014 - 09:00 PM ]
Yet another April Fools' joke; this time from Razer in the form of Eidolon. A crazy augmented reality drone and contact lens system. Now here is yet another April Fools' joke straight from Razer in the form of a product called Eidolon. This is one of the more obvious jokes floating around today but the fun fact here is that I had an idea for this back when my mortal coil was a young lad. What am I talking about? Well if you haven't jumped to the video for Razer's Eidolon 'project' yet it is all about a 'power glove' of sorts that has a mini-drone that will follow you around taking video and images of your life. Looks Like We Will Be Able To Facebook Stalk With The Oculus Rift Soon
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 26th of March 2014 - 09:01 PM ]
Facebook is set to purchase Oculus for around two billion dollars. What does this exactly mean though? It was announced yesterday that Facebook has reached an agreement to purchase Oculus VR, the makers of the Oculus Rift headset, for about two billion dollars. Not all in cash mind you. Only $400 million of that will be in "cash" the rest of the $1.6 billion in Facebook stock. That is all upfront as well as $300 million more is offered if Oculus VR can hit certain milestones that are still yet to be defined at the writing of this article. Read More...

Let's Look At The Game Play Of The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 7th of February 2013 - 11:12 PM ]
Now that we've all hopefully had time to wrap the story heavy version of the franchise, it's time we looked at the action FPS version with The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. The Activision/Terminal Reality game coming out here in a month's time. Not much has been said or shown until now, but it is well known to be a FPS and feature the story of two of the AMC TV Show only characters. I'm talking the Dixon brothers in case you haven't been up on the details since its initial announcement. If you look below we have what is called the "Game Play" trailer for the game. Read More...

Review: Black Knight Sword
by Matt Waitt [ Friday, 21st of December 2012 - 07:35 PM ]
Where do I start with Black Knight Sword? The Monty Python inspired art style? The odd and unique story? Or how about the challenging difficulty that I thought had long since been forgotten? Yeah, let's start with how hard Black Knight Sword is. Black Knight Sword has three difficulties: Easy, Normal and Hard but it feels more like "Normal, Hard, and Good Luck." It is not the mechanics, nor the controls that makes Black Knight Sword so difficult, no, not at all. It is the strategically placed enemies, the learning curve they demand from you, and the boss fights that will eat you up and spit you out. Read More...

The Tester Season 3: Episode 1 - Lessons Attention Whoring
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 8th of February 2012 - 06:58 PM ]
So here we go with Season 3 of PlayStation's The Tester. The first episode just hit the web and through every other medium that Sony wants us to watch it through. As promised in every other article about this show, I will give you my personal overview of the episode and things to look at for yourself. Hells, maybe even a reason on why not to watch at all or the converse. In any instance, let's move on before the title alone clouds your judgment. Read More...

Here Is The Teaser For The Tester And...
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 18th of January 2012 - 07:00 PM ]
It looks like all of my thoughts from before about the new season of The Tester were about right. Either that or the editors of this teaser thought it would be best to show the entire cast failing and being told they ALL have failed. It's like they want to show that they chose the worst of the worst for the competition as long as they look good or 'act' humorous the entire time. Go ahead and watch the teaser and tell me that is not the first thing that comes to mind after watching. I'll wait as usual. Read More...

Real Life Metal Slug
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 6th of September 2011 - 10:11 PM ]
Again in my travels across the lush open world of YouTube I have come across a golden gem; A short little film by Andrewfilms of how awesome it would be to play Metal Slug via Augmented reality. A great show of post editing skills, makes this a must see viral video. The short captures the good old nostalgia of Metal Slug, a truly epic series of running and gunning. Sit back and enjoy this Nazi stomping, Zombie blasting good time Leave your thoughts and opinions below. I'd personally love if they threw in a boss fight at the end. Read More...

The Tester Season 3 Is Upon Us
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 4th of August 2011 - 10:56 PM ]
Well this was a little unexpected. Last time it was announced during E3 and was a major thing Sony wanted to bring up. Unless their plan was to use QuakeCon to help the announcement. Then spot on. Oh, by the way, I am talking about the announcement for the third season of The Tester. You know that PSN/PS3 exclusive "reality show" that has gone two years now. Now normally, after what happened last time, I'd have some scoffing and guffawing about this. It's just how I'd feel. Read More...

Virtual Reality To An Extreme
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 22nd of April 2011 - 06:55 PM ]
In the pursuit of making games 100% immersive there are an ass ton of gadgets, gizmos and displays to make you feel truly in the middle of the action. That is what the whole motion controller craze and revitalization of 3D is all about isn't it? But no one will rest until you can fully experience the game world as if you were truly standing there and walking around it. That is what gamers enjoy isn't it? Moving around and having all of the game character's skills based on their own motor functions that don't require basic thumb presses. Read More...

The VGAs Tried To Augment Our Reality. How'd They Do?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 16th of December 2010 - 10:19 PM ]
So being as the VGAs have kind of moved away from being an awards show and are now just another way to sell ad space for gaming companies, you would think they would try to do something to bring gamers' interest back. Am I right? I mean you had the Brütal Legend hour-long ad when Jack Black hosted in 2008. In 2009, the biggest thing I remember was the teaser for Batman: Arkham City and a small attempt to get Samuel L. Jackson linked back into the show. Read More...
