So what did they try this go-round? Well outside of NPH, Augmented Reality was the gimmick used to entice us to care about anything outside of the new trailers and announcements. A few of the clips can be seen below, although really not all that impressive. Maybe I am just missing the point of Augmented Reality here, but it was really just CGI overlays that involved no interaction with anyone at all. What makes this different than just adding CGI to other shows?
Yes the show was taped "live." Yes that is what Augmented Reality is about, but things here were worlds more static than other uses of this tool. It was cool to see the Arkham City baddies standing on stage, they looked like they were manikins and first, but it really didn't "wow" me. Even the Halo one was outshined by Nathan Fillion and the musical performance. Not that it was more than just HUDs floating over the audience. Maybe if the audience would have seen them live around them the same time we did at home, it would be more impressive. I guess we are still too far out from holograms.
