Well if you are one of those; let me introduce the XIO prototype, an immersive Virtual Reality "suit" and arm. Well suit in the case that there is a vest and backpack that is needed for some of the feedback. But from the below demonstration, it looks like it could be an awesome rig to have set up in arcades or amusement parks. It tracks not only head movement but arm movement and also looks to have a possible way to track weapon changes down the line. These weapon changes being linked to mock weapons at that. I guess that can also help justify the backpack further.
The demonstration can explain more so I'll let you catch that for all the details.
I still propose the same question of if hardcore gamers would really want to use a rig like this or not. It has some interesting entertainment and training applications, but it is being targeted toward the gaming subculture. Like I said, I doubt most of us would want out gaming skills to be based on our real world physical prowess. I would probably give it a go in a laser tag scenario though.
