Do Aggregator Sites Really Work?
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 14th of September 2009 - 04:44 PM ]
With the proliferation of the Internet, becoming a “published” writer is easier than it has ever been in the history of the world. Blogs, social networks and other various tools give just about anyone the ability to give their voice a platform to be heard. This is especially evident in “games journalism.” Hundreds of sites, including this one, vying for visitors and page views, are publishing everything from news to editorials to reviews. Doing whatever it takes to establish a reader base and either “be discovered” or turn the site from a hobby into a job. Read More...

Review: Muramasa: The Demon Blade
by Michael Camacho [ Monday, 14th of September 2009 - 12:56 PM ]
It had been months since I last turned my Wii on, but that all changed with a single release for the system. Muramasa: The Demon Blade has arrived from Ignition Entertainment and I couldn’t have a better reason to utilize my Wii. Muramasa is the latest 2D Action RPG title developed by Vanilla Ware, the team behind Odin Sphere on the Playstation 2. The game revolves around two main characters, both set out on their own unique journeys. Momohime is a young princess who has had her soul forced out and body possessed by the demon Jinkuro. LucasArts Announces Lucidity For Xbox Live Arcade & PC
by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 11th of September 2009 - 11:20 PM ]
LucasArts today announced their new title Lucidity. The latest Puzzle Game will be available on Xbox Live arcade and PC. Players will play Sofi, a little girl who is dreaming, and as she drifts deeper and deeper into the dream world players will need to keep Sofi safe. Apparently this will be done by putting puzzle pieces in her way to "guide" her where she needs to go. LucasArts plans on bringing more games similar to "The re-imagining of The Secret of Monkey Island" and "Lucidity" to gamers. This is a pretty cool concept. Read More...

Day 1 of Guitar Hero: Love Watch ...or is it day 2?
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 10th of September 2009 - 09:41 PM ]
No doubt you have read the "shocking" details of Courtney Love's acrid Twitter response to Kurt Cobain's likeness being used in Guitar Hero 5. Then, you were enthralled by the report of shots fired back by Activision that Love, in fact, was the individual who signed the contract to use the likeness. And THEN you no doubt realized...you don't care. Read More...

Review: Fate/Unlimited Codes Portable
by Michael Camacho [ Saturday, 5th of September 2009 - 01:11 PM ]
Fans of the anime series Fate/Stay Night have been clamoring for an American release of the fighting game series the anime was based off of. Finally Capcom has answered the fans with the release of Fate/Unlimited Codes Portable for the PSP as a download only title on PSN. Fate/Unlimited Codes Portable is exactly what its title describes, as it is the portable version of the PS2 port available only in Japan. Before I get into my review, I would like to say my review is based upon the Japanese version, and the only major difference between the two releases is the translated text in the U.S. Read More...

Making Getting A Job Testing Games A Game
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 4th of September 2009 - 02:56 PM ]
We all have heard it before. What would be the best job for a gamer? Playing/Testing games is generally the answer. I'm a fan of paid to just live, but hey, that's not going to be likely. Also not the point here. Yesterday (9/3/09), Sony and the SCEA Studios are giving gamers just that chance. The chance to be one of their game testers for at least a year. Not only that, but to be paid to be one of their game testers for a year. Something that is nigh impossible for someone to get into even though they have all the qualifications for it. Read More...

Review: Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures Episode 4: The Bogey Man
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 3rd of September 2009 - 05:22 AM ]
If you wish to read my review of Episode 1: Fright of the Bumblebees and get more background, click here. My review of Episode 2: The Last Resort is here. The most recent, Episode 3: Muzzled! is here. All good things must come to an end, so they say. As it is in overused quotes, so it is with the delightful Wallace&Gromit's Grand Adventures from Telltale Games. This marks the fourth and final tale of England's favourite inventor and his clever canine companion. Alliteration aside, Episode 4: The Bogey Man closes up any holes left in the moderately overarching narrative of the tetralogy while leaving more than adequate room to follow up with a new story for this duo. Review: Guitar Hero 5
by Ben Brody [ Tuesday, 1st of September 2009 - 11:25 AM ]
So another one is out. I won't bother you with what Guitar Hero is, nor will I bore you with details about how the game is played, or whether it plays well. Yes, it plays well, and yes, it is same as it always has been, press the note on the bars then strum when the according color passes the bar. However, there are some new additions that make Guitar Hero 5 the best Guitar Hero yet. Party play is long overdue, and something that was almost added into Rock Band 1. Party play is just that, a mode for a party. Read More...

by Michael Camacho [ Monday, 31st of August 2009 - 01:13 AM ]

They discuss the games they have been playing, including Dissidia: Final Fantasy, Little Big Planet, Red Faction, Batman and Drama Queens. We reveal our latest Bargain Bin titles featuring games for the PC, PS3 and Nintendo DS this week. We also pull out the WD-40 as the squeaking is out of control this episode. We also realize we are going to need plaster to patch up the holes made in the walls. Read More...

Join The Dark Side
by Corey Dockendorf [ Saturday, 29th of August 2009 - 09:25 PM ]
Well here it is folks, one of the two classes we have all been waiting for, The Sith Warrior. This class looks amazing. Being able to wear large, heavy, technological army is a Darth Vader fan's dream come true. This looks like it's going to be a tank type class for SWTOR. But with such fast and furious sword play, who knows? The force powers look like tons of fun. I highly recommend checking out the videos This announcement is released after a week of speculation that this would be the next class in the roster of characters posted to the Holonet. Read More...

Kurt Cobain To Posthumously Play Guitar Hero 5
by Brian Bentley [ Friday, 28th of August 2009 - 04:33 PM ]
Grunge and flannel: they go together like consoles&fanboys. Defining an entire decade of rock, grunge started the trend to move away from synth-pop, popular in the 80's, to a harder sound that emphasized the angst building in rebellion to 80's preppy style and trickle down economics. The earthier sounds and personalities of the grunge scene felt like you were watching a garage band down the street rather than the huge arenas and corporate heroes of pristine pop music and shiny glam-rock. Nirvana's release of Nevermind and the subsequent momentum shocked and appalled people as much as it enticed and enthralled. Their music was inspiring to a new generation of music listeners on a completely new medium, the Compact Disc. Read More...

Beatles: Rock Band, Guitar Hero 5 Pricing on Wii Setting Bad Precedent
by Brian Bentley [ Sunday, 23rd of August 2009 - 05:07 AM ]
Toys, pack-ins, gimmicks, add-ons and peripherals are all words that are not unknown or unheard of to Nintendo Wii owners’ ears.  Since the console’s launch in 2006, a great many guns zappers, dance pads, microphones, etc., have been bundled with Wii games filling living rooms to capacity -- especially with the onset of rhythm games.  Even Nintendo’s best-selling game, WiiPlay is merely a controller with a $10 tech demo, and there has always been a premium attached to the bundles that have exceeded the normal price point for a Wii game at $49.99. New LBP DLC Will Totally Get You Wet
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 20th of August 2009 - 05:05 PM ]
Sack it to Me – the "Big Announcements" Edition You ever hop into the level creator for LittleBigPlanet and feel like there was something missing. Something that stopped you from being able to faithfully recreate the entire game of Super Mario Bros. using their sandbox. Something you couldn't quite place your finger on. Something you had to muddle around with the jet packs a bit to get to work correctly as well as run a blue tint over the entire screen for immersion's sake. Ok, enough of that and on to the point. The Ultimate Gaming Wishlist (8/19/09)
by Jesse [ Wednesday, 19th of August 2009 - 07:45 PM ]
Last week I discussed my feelings about downloadable content which is one of two things that have drastically risen in the last few years to become a common site in the video games industry. Today I want to take a look at the second which are Special Edition releases. Before I actually get to the different pieces that are actually packaged within, I’d like to share what I think should be the definition of various special editions because I’ve seen several different variations in my time. Obviously these are the Special Edition, Collector’s Edition, and Limited Edition. I know that for many people there really is no difference, but I disagree. Read More...
