On December 12th of ’09, Spike TV held their 7th annual Video Games Award. The Nominees were in, the ballets were turned in and it was time to find out who won. We could go through every award, but we all know we just want to know who won the 2009 Game of the Year. Well the Nominees for Game of the Year were Assassin’s Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. So, presumably right before the world ends, the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington DC will host art that most of its denizens aren't used to: Video Game Art. Beginning on March 16th and lasting until September 9 in 2012 (or the end of the world, whichever comes first), the Smithsonian will host an exhibition covering everything from the Magnavox Odyssey (of which is already in the Smithsonian now) to the PlayStation 3 and everything in between. Video game art exhibitions aren't anything new, however big name players like Smithsonian have never had one. One of the few game developers that has never ceased to amaze me is Gameloft. I don't know what their development philosophy is, but it has consistently led to some great gaming experiences on mobile devices. We all know that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 took away dedicated servers from PC gamers. This is not the case for Shattered Horizon. On December 4th, 2009 Futuremark Games Studio finally allows for a dedicated server for Shattered Horizon, a multiplayer first-person shooter played in zero gravity. At least PC gamers will be able to choose how they want to play Shattered Horizon and who they want to play with. Players will be getting greater protection from cheats, hackers and griefers. With the lack of backwards compatibility on the current age PS3 units, it was starting to look like there was no way for new users to play their classic games as the technology became more economically available. This being the case, it looked like some great classic games would get purged from households to make way for the new technology. But you can't keep a great classic down, and it was decided to produce a version of one to make it through to the modern tech. Are you ready for another Medal of Honor game? Well it has been a while since we have seen action in the Medal of Honor universe. Today Rockstar Games released the long awaited trailer for Red Dead Redemption, the sequel to Red Dead Revolver, which has been making its way over the internet over the holiday. Rockstar games released the official video in HD format for all you fans out there, along with the release date of April 27th, 2010 for the Xbox 360 and PS3 title.We follow the adventures of a former outlaw, John Marsten as he travels across the American Frontier at the end of an age where the Wild West is quickly fading, and the Industrial Age is being ushered in.  Players are going to enjoy a slew of new characters while traversing this large open-world environment, and really get a feel for the settings and environments surrounding them. Starcraft II's website just had a content explosion all over the screen. The website has new screenshots, some from the game and others from the cinematic, and they look phenomenal. I think that if these detailed shots of in-game cinematic are any indication, this game is going to take Starcraft players to a whole new, long awaited, adventure.    The features page is where all the fun is though.
