Well now that we've taken that walk down memory lane let's move forward.
Mortal Kombat: Legacy was relatively successful online and received some good numbers. This lead to what always happens in those instances, a sequel is made to try and do the same thing again. If you look below, you can see the latest teaser for the show. I'll leave it at that so you can take a quick watch and then we'll continue.
Did you just think "What the hells happened?" I know I did. We might as well be getting the next craptastic iteration of the film franchise here. All the originality seems to have been removed from the original concept and moved into another "let's please the few fans" type of thing. Why are humans so afraid of trying new things that could lead to something amazing? This looks to be the same drivel that destroyed the franchise rehashed again.
If we really wanted another tired version of Mortal Kombat we'd play the game at this point. Why are we giving someone else a chance to give us the same crap again? Are we out of completely new ideas again? Looks like it. At least they are trying to add new characters that have not been in the films until this "reboot/re-imagination." But that is such a small plus though.
I guess we can hope it will be better, but my doubts all come from the deviation from the original core idea of the whole project oh so long ago. I'll admit though, my hopes are not high in the least bit.
