by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 3rd of August 2011 - 04:19 PM ]
Let's start with "What is QuakeCon?", or as it has been known since 1996, the Woodstock of PC/LAN gaming. Hands down, one of the largest LAN parties of our generation. A celebration of all things Quake-oriented and bringing LAN gamers together onto one giant network. A gaming marathon that one will never forget from August 4th to 7th. Although, with so many gamers in a single location, and hosted by some of the biggest names in the business, (id Software, Bethesda, Insomniac, and Respawn) were bound to get some great news out of this event. Also a very interesting note, this event is 100% FREE to players! Read More...

Diablo III Brings Real Currency Trading
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 1st of August 2011 - 09:38 PM ]
Well here's some interesting Diablo III news. Players will be able to exchange in game items for real currency! The service will be hosted through an unannounced third party company. The Auction House will be very similar to an E-Bay style system but also completely optional. Players will be able to purchase gold, weapons, armor and runestones on their current Battle.net accounts, but Blizzard says there will be no "Game play affecting" items available for this type of trade. At the time of this writing Blizzard has no plans to post items directly and will leave the item trading up to the players. Read More...

Review: Transformers: Dark Of The Moon
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 5th of July 2011 - 11:07 PM ]
As I am sure you undoubtedly know, the new Transformers film is in theaters. This also means that the new game based on the film, Transformers: Dark Of The Moon, has hit shelves to try and draw more money out of our pockets due to nostalgia. Yep, here is yet another film based game. Another chance for a game company to rush something out just to catch a few extra bucks from the hype. Let's see how this fairs against all of the other film based shit games out there. The Story After the events of the last film, the Autobots have taken it upon themselves to help the human race by performing secret missions to keep the peace of the world. Read More...

E3 2011 Hands On: Twisted Metal
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 14th of June 2011 - 08:56 PM ]
So it has been a year since the new Twisted Metal was announced at E3 during the Sony press conference. It seems like it would be a good time to check in and see what the designers over at Eat Sleep Play have been doing since then. Yes there have been some fun new trailers and game play footage, but that doesn't give one a good feeling of how the game would handle. For that you need to place hands to controller. It was extremely fitting that the first location to get my godly hands on the game was in the arcade set up immediately after the Sony conference. Read More...

E3 2011 Impressions: Torchlight II
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 13th of June 2011 - 11:34 PM ]
When I stumbled upon Torchlight during 2009’s E3, I knew I had found something special. Of all the games I came away wowed by during that show, Torchlight was definitely one that stood out in my mind after the buzz wore off. Fast forward to 2011, as Runic Games attempts to make a repeat performance at E3 with Torchlight II. At first glance, you will feel a familiarity with Torchlight II. The art style hasn't changed dramatically, though they seemed to have spruced up some of the textures. Read More...

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Episode 8 - Same Old Story
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 1st of June 2011 - 10:28 PM ]
What a twist! Who knew that Quan Chi was the master mind behind the whole Sub Zero/Scorpion plot? My mind is blown! Completely didn't expect this "reimagining" to go there. Madness! Wait… What…? That is the basic canon of the Mortal Kombat universe? It wasn't something amazingly awesome thought up by the people who wrote something amazing to get the WB behind this little web series? Damn… I was really hoping for something here. Now that my sarcasm has been given the chance to be out in the open for the day, let's move on. Read More...

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Episode 7 - Scorpion The Family Man
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 25th of May 2011 - 08:55 PM ]
That didn't last long. The awesome reimagining of the Mortal Kombat franchise that was shown in episode 6 seems to be thrown to the side as we are back on the path of the stories we already know. Oh, and just like the Kitana/Mileena story, this one is set up the same way only with franchise favorites Scorpion and Sub Zero. That includes the "To Be Continued" at the end of the episode. I will give the episode a bit of credit as it does expand on the whole rivalry story between the two characters. Read More...

Can you hear that? That's the sound of money falling from the sky and into Activision Blizzards pocket. Here is the first official look at Modern Warfare 3 in all of its glory. This is the next chapter in the record shattering franchise that is sure to get fans blood pumping. Be sure to pick it up November 8th this year, but for now check out the trailer below! This is our first actual look at game play and I have to say it is eye candy for my brain. Not only do we see tanks and helicopter gunships, we also see mass destruction of some of the biggest cities in the world. Read More...

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Episode 6 - Raiden's Gone Crazy
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 19th of May 2011 - 09:59 PM ]
Finally we get something that was originally pitched way back when. It only took six episodes before we got another gritty take on the Mortal Kombat universe. While it was nothing as insane as how Baraka or Scorpion were presented, it does ask the question of "What would happen if a god fell in the modern age?" It also answers it pretty accurately too boot. This week's episode features Raiden who seems to have fallen out of power and into the grounds of a mental institution. Read More...
