Review: LEGO Rock Band
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 25th of November 2009 - 09:26 PM ]
The LEGO® brand is known the world over. Beloved by kids and cherished by adults, “playing LEGOs” has been a part of our culture for over 50 years*. So, when the LEGO brand hit store shelves as a series of video games, consumers were elated. With tie-ins to licensed products, the games took on a life of their own – becoming immensely popular with the young and old. Something else popular with multiple demographics is the rhythm game genre. Enter LEGO Rock Band – a melding of the two products in a marketing dream scenario. Read More…

Aggrocast Episode Fifty One: No GNitro? No Problem...we think
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 25th of November 2009 - 05:28 PM ]
The crew is back minus Michael as he is in the land of the Crimson Tide. Brian and Binh are joined once again by Shannon (moepower). They talk about how much they miss Mike, give a lot of love to Oblivion and have a discussion about GameInformer magazine's top 200 video games of all time. We also discuss the games we have been playing (or not playing in Shannon's case), including Lego Rock Band, Torchlight, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Modern Warfare 2 and more. On Bargain Binh this week, Binh rolls out the doorbusters you must hit on Black Friday, On the DL has Brian gushing more love on a casual game that finally made it to the PSN, and Shannon pulls a hilarious TV series for the Netflix Pix. Shh. We Got Your Tron Tease. Don't Tell...
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 25th of November 2009 - 04:52 AM ]
While not overly impressive as a full video of gameplay or what is going on the game, that will come later at the VGA's, what we do have is a little sneak peek at what the video game of a movie about a killer video game may be have with in the lines of code. Yea, that was a stretch for a very lack luster attempt at a joke. In any instance, if you are interested in being teased with very little actual game play or story shots for the game part of the new film Tron, then below is something for you. It is a short promo showing off a little bit of the fact that there will be light cycles in the game. Read More…

Epic Fail, the 4th edition
by Ben Brody [ Tuesday, 24th of November 2009 - 11:36 PM ]
<rant>So awoke today to an all to familiar sight: a red ringed 360. I've had 4 red rings in 5 years, and while I most likely use my 360 more than the average user, 4 units in 5 years is unacceptable for a company who can afford to make a system that won't fail.</rant> I did a poll of my 60 some friends on Live and got 30 responses: 23 of them have had red rings, 7 of them haven't, and of those 7, 3 got theirs this year (the newest 360, which allegedly won't red ring anymore). While many polls have been done outside of mine, the results are always staggering, in some polls (like the game informer poll) gamers report that the failure rate is over 50% while some polls report around 20-25%. Anything above 10% in my mind is a completely unacceptable. Read More…

The World Doesn't Need More Dragons
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 24th of November 2009 - 04:55 PM ]
Jeff Strain announced Monday his new Video Game Development studio Undead Labs. Whats this? You don't know who Jeff Strain is you say? Jeff is from the Blizzard world, he worked on the programming for Diablo as well as StarCraft. He also formed the initial development team and was the lead programmer for World of Warcraft in '99. That's a good start but where did he go from there? In April of 2000, Jeff joined forces with Mike O'Brien and Patrick Wyatt to establish ArenaNet. Read More…

Nintendo Priming DSi Holiday Sales Explosion
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 23rd of November 2009 - 09:59 PM ]
There are two things that people love and totally go gaga over: Special Editions and Free Stuff. Today, Nintendo announced that this holiday season, the Nintendo DSi will have BOTH starting on Black Friday. Starting on Friday, the DSi will be sold in two new special edition packages that will contain the portable device in one of two colors -- White or Metallic Blue -- as well as have 5 DSiWare titles pre-loaded. The metallic blue DSi has a Mario theme with various games and apps, while the white DSi goes for a more Brain Age slant. The people down at Nintendo of America have squashed any notion of a slow-down or over-saturation of the portable device market. Read More…

Mass We Pray is the 6th circle of Hell
by Corey Dockendorf [ Sunday, 22nd of November 2009 - 03:30 AM ]
Dante's Inferno has been this year's king of the publicity stunts. If you've been keeping up with gaming news this year, you would have seen Christians petitioning Dante's Inferno at E3, EA offering a "night of sin with 2 hot girls" during Comic-Con 09, and finally there was that little business of $200 being sent to game reviewers in skeleton covered boxes. Well Dante's Inferno is at it again this time with a website that would scare the life out of any gamer. Mass We Pray is the latest edition to the Dante's Inferno marketing campaign: A family shouldn’t have to wait until Sunday to worship the Lord. Read More…

Review: Assassin's Creed 2
by Ben Brody [ Saturday, 21st of November 2009 - 11:07 PM ]
Assassin's Creed had very few pitfalls: a repetitive story mode, inability to swim, and repetitive animations. AC2 fixes all these issues, and more. When Ubisoft came out with AC, it was the only gun-free, action oriented, free roam game, and up until AC2, it stayed that way. It was a risky move on their part in a predominately FPS dominated world. It paid off and did more than justify a sequel. In a world of gun oriented, short single player mode, multiplayer based games, AC2 isn't, and it is just as awesome as any other game out there. Read More…

by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 20th of November 2009 - 11:27 PM ]
So the announcement was made for when we would all get to have the fun the Japanese and importers will get here in a few weeks. But is there more of what the game will look like outside of the little the video clip showed us all? There really wasn't and it was starting to look like we would have to wait to see some until after the 17th of December. Well don't worry at all now, we have 33 new shots of what the game will look like for those Japanese and importers. The eventually us in Norther America and Europe. Read More…

Starcraft 2 Website Has A Media Explosion
by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 20th of November 2009 - 04:49 PM ]
Starcraft II's website just had a content explosion all over the screen. The website has new screenshots, some from the game and others from the cinematic, and they look phenomenal. I think that if these detailed shots of in-game cinematic are any indication, this game is going to take Starcraft players to a whole new, long awaited, adventure.    The features page is where all the fun is though. They have new videos highlighting the single player and multiplayer scenarios. Read More…

Well how about we throw some numbers at you and see if you think Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is worthy of this year's Game of the Year.
