EA shutting down multiple online servers

Below is a list of games that will no longer have multiplayer support as of February this year.  EA says you can play these titles up until the actual shutdown date.  Community programs could shut down earlier, depending on circumstances.  A little surprise for you football buffs, Madden 09 is on this list for a February 9th shut down date.  What does that mean, that means you're gonna have to shell out some cash for Madden 10 if you want to get online and get your fix.Be sure to note which platforms are being shut down, not all titles are being shut down on all platforms, so make sure you take a good look as to which platforms will no longer be available. EA Announces New Dragon Age Expansion - Awakening

A few months ago we reported on the parody-rich continuation of Matt Hazard's first adventure, Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard. Well, with holidays comes gifts of some sort and the fine folks at Naughty Dog are at it again. Instead of overweight Drakes however, this time you'll get characters adorned with Christmas hats and a Double Cash weekend.This go round it will be from Thursday, December 24, 2009, at 10:00 AM PST through Sunday, December 27, 2009, at 11:00 AM PST. Not only will you gain double for your trouble with kill, but for medals as well. At this rate I would expect there to be something for the New Year with everyone in the New Year Baby's diaper. Steam Achievements Added to Torchlight

We, as humans, are a competitive, goal-oriented species.  The category of humans known as gamers are characteristically more so.  So when little goals outside of the main game play were created on platforms this console generation (Achievements on Xbox 360 and Steam, trophies on the PS3), gamers took to them with a ferocity only matched by the public's outrage to the release of Coke 2.  The obsession with achievements has grown to the point that people will go out of their way to grind away for hours, simply to have the tiny extrinsic award.  As a bit of an afterthought and most likely a reward to the fans, last week Runic Games released over 60 achievements that may be earned on Steam for their critically acclaimed action-RPG Torchlight. Nintendo and Xbox want to Monitor your health

Ever wonder what it would be like to hook yourself up to your Xbox or Nintendo Wii and have it monitor certain vitality signs, use the data to change your avatar accordingly, or tell you what your feeling during certain points of a video game. Imagine status updates but from your internal Biology, take that Facebook!Microsoft recently patented tracking of players physical characteristics and converting that information to reflect on your avatar.  Of course a third party device would have to be created first, but Microsoft would pick up all the info and beam it into your Xbox Live account, making your Avatar look more like you. If the anticipation for the emotionally gut-wrenching title, Heavy Rain, wasn't already evident, there are now some special incentives for those who are seeking to pre-order the game.The Heavy Rain Chronicles, which will be normally priced at $4.99 for each episode, are separated into three individual portions. The first titled, "The Taxidermist,” will be made available for free for those who pre-ordered when the game drops. We all know how Little Big Planet when released for the Playstation 3; winning awards left and right and managing to win Game of the Year in many publications like GamePro, Edge and Eurogamer. The thing is, most of us already know how Little Big Planet (LBP) played on Sony's big black console and we here at Aggrogamer were curious just how it would play out on the often-overlooked PSP. So their you are, sitting in the bathroom/airport/funeral and you say to yourself " Iwish i had a device that would let me read comics digitally, saving me time, money, and space".  Well Sony has your answer by merging the two most popular things geeks love, portable gaming and Comic-Books.Yes as we are all aware Sony had released this Digital Comic reader all the way back in November, promising dreams of comic reading bliss on your Sony PSP, along with a promo code for a free star trek comic book.  At the time of launch it seemed to be a pretty good idea, but comic book fans across the world had to wait until December to actually get to enjoy the Playstation Network Service.Right on schedule the Playstation Network has released a library of comics available for download (list to follow) for all you comic book fans ready to start your digital collection. Take A Glimpse Into Final Fantasy XIV

Well, the beta test application site for Final Fantasy XIV has opened up, and while the beta may only be for the PC, it is a great chance for those interested to poke around in what could be a fantastic MMO experience. For the curious, the requirements are: Be at least 18 years of age Possess a Square Enix ID account (Register for a Square Enix ID account here, if you don't have one already) Possess an internet connection Be capable of downloading large amounts of data Be capable of submitting bug reports in either Japanese, English, French, or German Like any other beta test, there will be several waves and opportunities to enter the beta so don't be discouraged if you don't make it in initially. For those looking for the PS3 experience, it seems that will be revealed "at a later date." Despite that, 2010 is going to be the year for this game's release, and I, for one, am excited. Microsoft has finally caught on to the whole instant gratification idea and released it's long awaited Games for Windows- Live games on demand. Talk about a day late and a dollar short.Microsoft opened it's doors to PC gamers everywhere, with their new Games for Windows LIVE software.  Gamers can download numerous titles from Microsoft ranging from Dirt 2 to Street fighter IV.  Yes we are all aware that Digital Distribution already exists with Steam and Direct2drive among others, but Microsoft gives the players the ability to use cash or Microsoft points to purchase games.
