The Secret World Is Getting Optioned For Its Own TV Series
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 17th of August 2017 - 09:00 PM ]
Secret World It looks like The Secret World is finally going to be a TV series as a show based on The Secret World and its rebranding has been announced It only took about a decade but it looks like what I was hoping for with The Secret World is finally happening as it is being picked up for its very own TV series. That's right, the dark and horror filled MMO from Funcom is finally getting expanded into a series that will delve deeper into the world and secrets hidden within it. Not that the game or its rebranding of Secret World Legends doesn't do a great job of it already, but it will be fun to see a bit more of it all expanded upon and from others points of view. PAX East Hands-On: The Secret World
by Matt Waitt [ Wednesday, 11th of April 2012 - 09:26 PM ]
During the hectic weekend at PAX I got a chance to check out The Secret World, the new MMO from Funcom. I sadly didn't get any play time due to interviews and my horrible memory. But I do have a video for you guys, so please enjoy. The Secret World comes out for PC on June 19th, 2012 developed by Funcom and published by EA. Read More...

Have A Good Look At The Secret World's Character Creation
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 22nd of March 2012 - 05:11 PM ]
It's been a little quiet on The Secret World front for a while. I think we are due some new info or visuals. Don't you? Funcom did recently have a showcasing of the character creation system and a bit of actual game play, but it was for press only. Most of you out there probably didn't get a chance to check it out, I know I didn't. That is until now. Funcom must have felt bad that got to see the new stuff so they up and decided to post part of the presentation online. Read More...

The Blue Mountains Of The Secret World
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 30th of January 2012 - 10:45 PM ]
With trailers like the one below for The Secret World it makes it harder to remember that this is a new MMO and not a new Survival Horror game. Here we are getting a look at an area of the game called Blue Mountain and it feels just like another Silent Hill. Creepy mountains, mines, a slew of twisted creatures roaming the streets and crazy history dating back longer than anyone would care to remember. Sounds close, but obviously it is its own "place" within The Secret World. Back to the original point I stated though, after you watch this trailer try and honestly say that you didn't mistake it for something other than an MMO. Read More...

It's Illuminati Week For The Secret World
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 18th of January 2012 - 05:02 PM ]
Okay, so The Secret World's Illuminati week was actually last week. It just seems that the Illuminati wanted to slip a bit of info out there during CES to try and keep it a little hidden. Or at least that is how I am going to take it just to get a little more jazzed about the upcoming MMO from Funcom. Not that I wasn't already that is to say. This is the third, and last, society to be featured in the game. Read More...

It's Templar Week In The Secret World
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 16th of November 2011 - 11:28 PM ]
Yea, I'll admit that sounds a lot like Shark Week on the Discovery channel, but damn it, Funcom wants to get some more info about The Secret World out to all of you. I am just trying to help them in this task. TSW does look like it can end up being one of the coolest MMO's out there. At least when it finally launches. Below you can peruse some new screen shots and concept art for the game and one of the three factions players will get to be part of. As you should have already guessed this week's faction is the Templars. Read More...

I Almost Forgot The Secret World Is A MMO...
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 11th of July 2011 - 10:20 PM ]
If it wasn't for the fact that I get reminded it is a MMO in every press release, I would swear that The Secret World was not going to be one. With each new screen and video that is ever so slowly hitting the web or my inbox I get a sense of confusion at first. So far the game doesn't look like a standard MMO. But as we all know, looks can be very deceiving, which is the case again with the following images and videos. Below you can see the new screens and video showcasing a new area in the game called The Savage Coast. Read More...

Storytelling Time In The Secret World
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 3rd of June 2011 - 07:49 PM ]
It may be coming a lot slower that I would want, but here comes quite a bit more on what is going on with The Secret World. Well at least as it goes with the missions and stories being told in the game. The below developer's diary goes over both those categories more than I will here, but I'll at least break it down for you a bit. Just as the tag line for the game says, "Everything Is True." Think about how the real world would be if every myth, story, legend or folk story were 100% true and not just based on something. Read More...

Gods The Secret World Is Looking Better And Better
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 15th of March 2011 - 04:38 PM ]
I swear there is always such a HUGE lull of info or visuals for The Secret World each time there is something new. I guess at least when there are new details or even a teaser video it still manages to get me excited again for the upcoming MMO from Funcom. The below trailer that was shown at GDC is no exception to the rule here either. Here we have a developer's diary of sorts with a mix of game play. A lot of the information is really nothing new. In The Secret World, The Templars Are From London
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 31st of August 2010 - 05:41 PM ]
Holy hells! We haven't seen anything new about The Secret World since the end of March. Like the whole team over at Funcom was ushered into the basement bunker owned by the Men in Black for trying to show the world what is truly going on. I was a bit afraid that was the case too. I am overly excited to see if they are going to be able to make up for Age of Conan. While there is still no release time frame anywhere in sight, there is a new video showcasing part of the creation process of The Secret World - at least in the form of one of the factions in the game. You will be surprised that the Templars are also nothing akin to the real world or the Assassin's Creed version of the society. Read More...

The Secret World Not Your Average MMO
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Saturday, 27th of March 2010 - 07:08 PM ]
Just as promised, albeit a day late, here is the new secret that Funcom wanted to reveal to the world on the 25th 26th of March. That secret, how The Secret World's gameplay actually makes it look more like an action/adventure game and not an MMO. Which in this case, is extremely jaw dropping. Watch the video below and see what you think for yourself. Now that you have seen the clip, did you not think it was a new action game? Did you forget it is going to be an MMO? Read More...

Revealing The Secrets Of The Secret World
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 24th of March 2010 - 03:15 PM ]
In the deep dark back rooms of GDC 2010, Funcom brought forth a new look at their up and coming modern world MMO The Secret World. You needed to know the secret path, the secret hand shake, and secret credentials to get in to see it. Or just be there and made an appointment to go and check out what Funcom had to show. My version would have been much cooler, you have to admit. But for those of you who didn't get to go through my made up scenario? Read More...

The Secret World's Monster Blog
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 23rd of February 2010 - 05:22 PM ]
God I love viral marketing. Especially the kind of viral marketing that draws you in deeper and deeper to find out very little about what is being advertised. Or at least when the details are so cryptic you don't get much out of it, but still want more. Something that Funcom has been doing for almost a year now with The Secret World. Just "dug up" on the great internets is a blog that shows it has been running since November of last year. A blog run by a "conspiracy theorist" showing images of creatures that are wandering around in the sleepy little town of Kingsmouth. Read More...

A Different Look At Kingsmouth From The Secret World
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 18th of February 2010 - 09:30 PM ]
Looking at the below new assets for Funcom's upcoming MMO The Secret World, the excitement is back after the very lack-luster gameplay video they threw out there to entice us all. I still attest that it was pretty bad for the first real video for the game. But in any instance, like I said, the new screen shots totally make up for it. While it is hard to tell if these are stylized in-game shots or just concepts done up in an art department, they are still great pieces of eye candy. Although, like Alan Wake the jeep crash looks a bit too Silent Hill it still is intriguing. Read More...

The Secret World Welcomes You With In-Game Footage
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 2nd of February 2010 - 09:54 PM ]
Up until now there has been little shown on what is going on with Funcom's new MMO The Secret World. At least in the form of actual game play or what the game will actually look like. Yes there have been some great fully rendered videos that made the game look amazing, but that is not how the game will look when all is said and done. At least not at the current state of technology that is. But of course, those videos as I said were up until now. Read More...
