Hitman & Back To The Future In God Of War
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 28th of October 2009 - 04:40 PM ]
Since the announcement that the original PS2 titles of God of War were coming to a BluRay near you with Trophy support, the thought has passed my head, what exactly could these trophies be? Kill 1000 agents of Ares? Beat the game on Titan Mode? Use the sex mini game over 100 times? You know the important thoughts and guesses. Well we wait no more for these and the release date too. Below is the list of trophies that the two games will have amongst them. Read More...

Modern Warfare 2 PC Boycott?
by Ben Brody [ Friday, 23rd of October 2009 - 01:28 AM ]
Infinity Ward recently announced that their upcoming Modern Warfare 2 won't be supporting dedicated servers, something that PC gamers have 99% of the time, replacing it with something called IWNet, a proprietary server system ran by Infinity Ward themselves. Before we get ahead of ourselves, let's make a list of pro's and con's. Pros: Less Cheaters Less Lag Better Matchmaking No Clan Servers No Custom Configs Cons: No Mod Support Chance that IW could disconnect and end servers at anytime for any reason No Clan Servers No Custom Configs Unable to play on “favorite” servers, only way to play with same group of people is to be in the same party or clan While console gamers have never had their own dedicated servers (save a few games like Section 8, Evolution 4x4, and a few others), it's rare for a PC game to do away with it (and yes, COD4 had dedicated servers). Why this move was made is beyond anybody's idea however it seems that Infinity Ward would like to either Nazi their PC players Pave the way for a pay-for service Get rid of Modders Genuinely want to get rid of hackers Announce that they are taking it away, to drive some gamers away, then announce that they will include it, and gain even more gamers to it due to the news (IE: New Coke) Kill the ability for pirated copies of MW2 to be played online. Mass Effect 2 Gets Dated
by Ben Brody [ Sunday, 18th of October 2009 - 04:36 AM ]
Mass Effect 2 now has a solid release date: January 26, 2010. While it's anybody's guess whether or not it actually comes out that day, it can be safe to assume that EA would be idiots to announce such a specific release date then push it back (again). Then again, we've all seen stranger things. The game, which is a direct sequel to 2007's Mass Effect, still features commander Shepard, who for some reason has lost all his abilities from the first game, trying to figure out why large colonies of humans are mysteriously vanishing (geth maybe?) The game will take place 2 years after the first Mass Effect (and was originally supposed to be released 2 years after as well, but who wants to go up against Modern Warfare 2). The game will utilize your save-data from the first game, converting any decisions you may have made for better or for worse. Read More...

God Of War Looks Even More Bad Ass
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 16th of October 2009 - 11:14 PM ]
Just under a month away from the release of the God of War Compilation and we still have not yet seen any of the solid gameplay and visuals. Well outside of a pirated, cell phone camera clip from GamesCon. Something that was burring and full of Parkinson Cam style shot. So we couldn't really judge if the upgrade will be worth shelling out the cash for the two games again. Although it is less than the price of a single BluRay game, and you do get two full games for that price. But for fans that are not as into this game as me, will the trophies and graphic be enough to drop $39. Read More...

Blood, monsters, and character sheets, all in classic 2D! Dragon Age Journeys: Deep Roads is being created by EA2D, a new studio out of the EA franchise that specializes in flash based games. The Age Of The Dragon Is Drawing Near!
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 13th of October 2009 - 08:19 PM ]
As previously announced by the Dragon Age: Origins team, the character builder is finally available for download Here. After spending many hours with this game demo at Comic-con this year, and finally getting to see what I am going to make my "first character" look like is quite exciting. It's a little taste of things to come. Players who download the Character Builder will be able to select everything from Gender to Class and see the talent trees we will have to choose from. I must warn you though, the guys over at Dragon Age really outdid themselves this time. Read More...

Review: Canabalt
by Kevin [ Monday, 5th of October 2009 - 05:14 PM ]
What you see below you is the scenario that Canabalt presents. You begin the game fleeing from a crumbling building and whatever has assaulted that building is following you, and all you can do is run and leap to potential safety. The counter in the upper right will tell you how far you have been able to travel in your attempted escape. The maker of the game, Adam Saltsman, made a post over at the Experimental Game Project about the original version, "I made Canabalt in 5 very long days (at least 60 hours) – 1 day at the start of the month, two days at PromJam, and then this weekend. Danny B made the music for it tonight. Read More...

Review: Scribblenauts
by Brian Bentley [ Tuesday, 29th of September 2009 - 04:06 AM ]
There are times when you are playing a game that you simply say “They got it right.”  It could be during a puzzle or moving through open spaces or fighting enemy AI, but usually it only happens once or twice, or if you’re lucky, several times.  Imagine playing a game that gives you that feeling in almost every one of the 220 puzzles packaged into that tiny Nintendo DS cartridge.  Welcome to Scribblenauts. You play as Maxwell. Another Gift From The Gods
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 23rd of September 2009 - 08:20 PM ]
It had been rumored since the before the official announcement of the God of War Compilation. The inclusion of the God of War III demo on disc with the first two games. Then the announcement came and there was no mention at all. In fact Sony wouldn't even comment on if it was going to be or not. Which left all of us God of War fans wondering if we would get an early play of the game, outside of going to a convention. Well, today, it has been confirmed that the demo we've seen and played at E3, Comic Con, and PAX is totally going to be included on the game disc for the Compilation. A nice little bonus if I do say so. Read More...

Batman Brings More Darkness To The UK
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 23rd of September 2009 - 05:30 PM ]
The minds at Eidos and behind Batman Arkham Asylum just don't give up. Last week with the Insane Night Map Pack and now this week with the Prey in the Darkness Map Pack. Well at least this week if you live in the United Kingdom or are willing to download across country lines. At least this is all according to the press release that was sent out about this new map. Hopefully it will be a globally released thing. In any instance, these two new challenges sound just as amazing as the last two that were released. Read More...

Nintendo DLC For The Week Of 9/21/09
by Brian Bentley [ Tuesday, 22nd of September 2009 - 05:39 PM ]
Another week of download releases by Nintendo means another week of low-hanging fruit for criticism on the choices for DSiWare downloads. Also included in this week is another Commodore 64 game for Virtual Console. At this point, I wish there was a defensible position to take on some of these choices for DLC. We have five releases this week across the three platforms. The lone Virtual Console title, Last Ninja 2, is from the Commodore 64. Read More...

by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 18th of September 2009 - 08:02 PM ]
A possible leaked trailer for Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings was released last night. Yes i know it says Alpha version, and everything says Internal Use only, but this looks like something directed towards the gamer audience. A "hey look at this trailer and get excited" type deal. Obviously it doesnt matter where it came from because it's pretty freaking awesome! The official announcement from CDProjekt “Of course, we can’t and won’t try to deny the facts. The movie that appeared on the various sites yesterday presents our newest project, The Witcher 2, which we’ve been working on for some time. Read More...
