Review: Saw: The Video Game
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 20th of October 2009 - 03:37 PM ]
Now I want to start out that this is not a movie based game, at least like all the other movie based games that get pumped out onto the store shelves when a new feature film or the film it is based on is about to hit the big screen. I felt we needed to open with that, because Saw: The Videogame shares only the title and is a continuation off the first film. It is not based of any of the films that have come out or are coming out. It should be considered Saw 1. Read More...

Survey Says: Nintendo Is Most Kid Friendly Brand
by Ben Brody [ Wednesday, 14th of October 2009 - 04:00 PM ]
Nintendo is by far the most kid-friendly system company, but how does is stack up against other things that kids love? A recent study done by Smarty Pants that tested “brand awareness, popularity, and love” of various brands among kids in 2009 puts Nintendo right at the top. Nintendo, which for some reason counts as 2 different brands, takes the top 2 spots: Nintendo Wii Ninendo DS Oreos McDonald's M&M's Doritos Nickelodeon Kraft Macaroni&Cheese Cheetos Disney Other game related brands that make the list:     14. Sony Playstation     31. Sony PSP     42. Read More...

Review: Mini Ninjas
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 12th of October 2009 - 12:39 PM ]
Let me start out by saying I really enjoyed this game. I was really excited about the game when I first heard about it but as time went on I became concerned it would be too childish. Yes it’s very cartoony and yes when you kill creatures they turn into fuzzy animals, but somewhere in the midst of all that I had a blast playing this game! The game-play is very simple and even the story line is not to complex, so it’s perfect for kids. With that in mind I was highly intrigued by this game. Read More...

Last But Not Least, PSN Content Now On Amazon.com
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 7th of October 2009 - 10:01 PM ]
Nintendo did it, Microsoft did it, now Sony has joined the ranks of content distributors via Amazon.com. Yes that's right, now you can head online to your friendly neighborhood Amazon.com and download anything from Sackboy costumes to full blown PSPGo Games. No longer will you suffer the oppression of sales tax, some locations not so lucky. I'm looking at you New York. I have just recently become addicted to the powers of the seductive Amazon, and have currently bought a metric-fuck-ton of books/equipment/bowling shoes, but now it looks like PSN titles and PSPGo titles will be added to my list. Resident Evil Now For An Alternative Lifestyle
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 1st of October 2009 - 10:07 PM ]
Just to now follow up with their lack of counting ability, Capcom has just let loose a teaser for Resident Evil 5.2 Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition. A game that seems to be much like what Resident Evil Director's Cut was to Resident Evil. A new version of the game with a few little extra added in. Enough extras to warrant a new edition of the game for consumers to spend their hard earned money on. But for this game, it honestly seems like it could be worth it. Read More...

Batman Brings More Darkness To The UK
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 23rd of September 2009 - 05:30 PM ]
The minds at Eidos and behind Batman Arkham Asylum just don't give up. Last week with the Insane Night Map Pack and now this week with the Prey in the Darkness Map Pack. Well at least this week if you live in the United Kingdom or are willing to download across country lines. At least this is all according to the press release that was sent out about this new map. Hopefully it will be a globally released thing. In any instance, these two new challenges sound just as amazing as the last two that were released. Read More...

Sneaking In Early Is Totally Metal
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 15th of September 2009 - 10:19 PM ]
So I'll be honest and tell you that I have yet to watch the video below. In fact, I refuse to watch it. But that shouldn't stop me from letting other people who want to watch it from enjoying it. In case you haven't skipped my words yet and just clicked play, the video below is the first 5 minutes and 46 seconds of what you can expect to be at the beginning of Brütal Legend. The opening cinematic to be exact. Why have I not watched this clip yet? Read More...

Batman Goes Totally Insane
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 15th of September 2009 - 03:02 AM ]
There is no denying that Batman: Arkham Asylum is an awesome game. It is what a Batman game should be. I don't think anyone could deny that. At least without getting spammed and flamed on every gaming site out there. I smell attention whoring out there now that I mentioned that. In any instance, the core game didn't end the whole experience for gamers who loved this game. There were the challenge maps after all was said and done. 16 of them for Batman if you completed a good chunk of the Riddle's riddles. Read More...

Base Jumping In Just Cause 2
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 14th of September 2009 - 09:57 PM ]
I'm nauseous just watching the video. Just Cause 2, which will be release in 2010, is already turning some heads by it's awesome new style of gun toting gameplay. The game is not only beautifully rendered, but it gives such a stunning realism while in the air that players could probably spend all day base jumping off mountains or buildings and be completely satisfied by the gameplay. Honestly it reminds me of Pilot Wings for the Nintendo 64, but with more action, guns, and death from above. Check out the latest developer diary for Just Cause 2 and be amazed by the things you can do with a grappling hook and a parachute. Read More...

LucasArts Announces Lucidity For Xbox Live Arcade & PC
by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 11th of September 2009 - 11:20 PM ]
LucasArts today announced their new title Lucidity. The latest Puzzle Game will be available on Xbox Live arcade and PC. Players will play Sofi, a little girl who is dreaming, and as she drifts deeper and deeper into the dream world players will need to keep Sofi safe. Apparently this will be done by putting puzzle pieces in her way to "guide" her where she needs to go. LucasArts plans on bringing more games similar to "The re-imagining of The Secret of Monkey Island" and "Lucidity" to gamers. This is a pretty cool concept. Read More...

Review: Final Fantasy: Dissidia
by Binh Nguyen [ Thursday, 3rd of September 2009 - 11:41 AM ]
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to combine the elements from a role playing game and fighting game? Ever wonder what it would be like to play some of your favorite heroes from the 8 bit, PlayStation, and PlayStation 2 days? Well wonder no more, as Square-Enix celebrates their 20th anniversary with the release of Final Fantasy: Dissidia for the PlayStation Portable. Even though this has been classified as a fighting game, it is certainly not for the Street Fighter, Tekken, or Soul Calibur crowd. The controls are really simple and you press the same buttons over and over again, but to learn the timing for each character's attacks to take advantage of the different terrain, makes the game much more interesting. Where Did My Hats Go?
by Stephanie Naboshek [ Thursday, 3rd of September 2009 - 02:14 AM ]
Today to my surprise, while chatting amongst fellow TF2 players in IRC, a sudden cry of "NOOOOOOOO!" began to fill the channel. Valve, the developer of Team Fortress 2, had gone in and flagged about 4.5% of accounts for using idling programs. I, being one of these hat hoarders, was also affected and have become quite saddened at the loss of my 2 hats. For those not familiar with the TF2 Drop system, Team Fortress 2 has items such as weapons, hats, and other misc unlockables available to earn at random when you play a server. As such, idling programs became widely popular amongst it's players, me included. Read More...

Review: Batman: Arkham Asylum
by Jesse [ Monday, 31st of August 2009 - 07:17 PM ]
If I’m not mistaken, Batman: Arkham Asylum is the twenty-first video game centered around the Dark Knight. Going all the way back to 1986 and the first game, appropriately titled Batman, I’ve only really found a handful of the games that can be considered at the very least decent. The SNES version of Batman Returns was great as a typical side-scrolling brawling game and of course more recently there was last year’s Lego Batman which was good for a laugh or two. However nothing really captured the spirit of the character, let alone his environment and for the games that tried, they failed miserably. But Batman is one of those characters that people are willing to take a chance on. Read More...

We reveal our latest Bargain Bin titles featuring games for the PC, PS3 and Nintendo DS this week. We also pull out the WD-40 as the squeaking is out of control this episode.
