E3 Impressions - Wolfenstein
by Brian Bentley [ Saturday, 6th of June 2009 - 05:56 PM ]
There is something unforgettable about the moment you began playing Wolfenstein 3D.  Fast, furious and in your face, this title made an impact that affected the games industry forever.  For many gamers, including myself, it changed the way we played and thought about games, shooters in particular.  Fast forward 17 years and many first player shooters later, Wolfenstein is getting set up to be released by id Software and during this E3, we saw a demonstration focusing on the supernatural aspects of the game.   Once again, you assume the role of BJ Blazkowicz and it is your mission to uncover and stop the Nazi plot to take over the world. Can You Feel The Fear?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 5th of May 2009 - 12:17 AM ]
Feel Game Trailer A while back there was some buzz about a game based on the horror film The Grudge. It was quite a while back, and it was mainly the people that brought the film to you were working on a game, but the internet buzz twisted it one way and went with it. As the mass majority of internet users are want to do. What else would we expect from the crazy people on the internet and their pornography clouded minds? Well for once, at least from looking at this video for a game called Feel, they were more on par with what was going on than normally given credit to those crack pots. Read More...

The Coffee Corner
by Ben Brody [ Monday, 4th of May 2009 - 01:39 AM ]
The Coffee Corner:The Coffee Corner is a weekly review of the last week in gaming, chock full of opinions, sexual innuendos, and hot ladies... well maybe not, but still, it's pretty cool. It's not meant to give an ultra in-depth look at the news, but rather a glance and a quick quip. This past week saw two fairly large releases: X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the video game, and the movie. While neither were recieved by amazing reception from critics, both managed to sell fairly well. While video games based off movies haven't been regarded as the best games (Read: Jumper, Tale of Despereaux, Any Brash Game, etc). Read More...

Mass Effect: Jacob's Story
by Kevin [ Saturday, 2nd of May 2009 - 05:47 PM ]
In keeping with the Mass Effect news that was previously presented concerning the concept at for ME2, here's some information on the side story coming to iPhones and the iPod Touch.Kotaku reported,"Intergalactic role-playing adventure is coming to the iPhone and iPod Touch with Mass Effect: Jacob's Story, a two-hour "animated presentation" with top-down arcade-style space combat that serves as a prequel of sorts to Mass Effect 2.The iPhone version of Mass Effect is currently being test-marketed via online survey, touting an "animated graphic novel experience" that blends "nuance[d]" story telling with "gripping top-down shooter combat."Mass Effect: Jacob's Story stars Jacob Taylor, "a biotic-powered super-soldier who stumbles across a plot to terrorize civilization's greatest beacon of hope," who must save the galaxy, naturally, but with an Apple brand touchscreen. A Mass Of Images
by Kevin [ Friday, 1st of May 2009 - 07:32 PM ]
After spying these over at Kotaku (and IGN for the wallpapers), I find myself getting even more excited for future information concerning the game. While the 'Death of Shepherd' has been mulled over by speculative fans, I wonder more about the supporting characters that you encountered in the first game. There is plenty of room to to explore more about the relationships between them and their history, and to visit some of their home worlds as well. You can check out the newest art here. Read More...

The PSP Level Of Hell
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 22nd of April 2009 - 04:35 PM ]
EA INVITES PSP OWNERS TO GO TO HELL So it almost seems that EA is trying to get totally behind any and all IPs it pumps out to market. By totally behind I'm talking the Film, comics, and pre-planed sequel to Dead Space. All the DLC plans for Mirror's Edge. It's arena in PSHome. This also seems to be no different for there next big IP, Dante's Inferno. Why? Because they just unleashed plans to make a PSP version of the game that will launch side by side with the large console version of the game. Read More...

Concepts Not In Limbo
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 25th of February 2009 - 05:39 PM ]
Some Concept Art From Dante's Inferno After seeing the awesome trailer for the game yesterday, I thought it would be a bit more time before we saw anything further for this game (Dante's Inferno). Partially I was right, partially I was wrong. Unless of course you count concept art for some of the scenes in the trailer to be new and cool images for the game. If you do though, then here you go. EA has handed out some of the artwork behind some of the visuals you got to see so far. Read More...

Go To Hell!
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 24th of February 2009 - 04:52 PM ]
Dante's Inferno Trailer I remember back when I had to read this book (Divine Comedy) for school and write a paper on the travels of Dante through the levels of Hell. What I don't remember was it looking this cool in my head when I was reading it. If it did, I probably would have continued to be an English major or something. Most likely not. But for those of you who are like me or are being forced to go through the same things I did so many years ago, here are some great visuals for you to take in and use when reading the book. FEAR 2 Review
by Ben Brody [ Tuesday, 17th of February 2009 - 02:28 AM ]
What's scarier than a little 7 year old girl just absolutely tearing people apart? Nothing, that's what. FEAR 2, the true sequel to FEAR, comes to us from Monolith and is hands down one of the scariest games ever. Dead Space, Silent Hill, and Condemned are given a run for their money with Alma, the girl previously mentioned. The game starts out about 30 minutes prior to the ending of the first game and puts you in the shoes of Sgt. Michael Becket, a Delta Force member who was mentioned in the first game as apart of a team assigned to bring Genevieve Aristide and put her into protective custody, which is the first mission of the game. Every game has a following, with some more fanatical than others. A group of Half-Life fans have taken it upon themselves to fully remake Half-life to run on the Source Engine. Black Mesa : Source as it is to be known combines the deep, rich story of the original with graphics that take full advantage of the Source Engine. Quantum of Solace Review, XBOX 360
by Ben Brody [ Tuesday, 4th of November 2008 - 07:06 AM ]
Quantum of SolaceESRB: TeenReviewed on: Xbox 360Quantum of Solace is Activision's first 007 game released since gaining the license from EA in 2006. It also marks the first Bond game released on 7th generation consoles (it is also released on 6th gen too). Daniel Craig, Eva Green, Mads Mikklesen, Olga Kurylenko, Mathieu Amalric, and Judi Dench all lend their voice and likeness to the game, which does give make it seem like you indeed are playing the movie, however, this time, that's a bad thing.Quantum of Solace doesn't fail so much due to the fact that it's not a great game to play, it fails in the regard that it's based on a movie, which while containing some over-the-top action, was largely a drama-love story that couldn't hold a candle to the action found in Goldeneye, From Russia With Love, Everything or Nothing, or even Nightfire. When producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson decided to take Bond in a different direction I was pleased with what came out on the big screen but was disappointed in the fact that the toned down, more realistic action wouldn't translate well to a video game, where over-the-top is the standard. Relationship between violent videogames and real-life aggression
by Aaron BlueWolf72 Molloy [ Wednesday, 21st of May 2008 - 05:15 AM ]
A new study seems to show that there is no relationship between violent videogames and real-life aggression. From ScienceDaily: Writing May 14 in the International Journal of Liability and Scientific Enquiry, Patrick Kierkegaard of the University of Essex, England, suggests that there is scant scientific evidence that video games are anything but harmless and that they do not lead to real world aggression. Moreover, his research shows that previous work is biased towards the opposite conclusion. Read More...
