Mircrosoft E3 2012 Press Conference Recap
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 5th of June 2012 - 05:42 AM ]
If you missed the Microsoft E3 2012 Press Conference, then you didn't miss much. Here's a recap of the event. It started off huge and quickly went downhill. A game play demo of Halo 4, for some reason it reminded me of Metroid Prime. A game play demo of Splinter Cell: Blacklist, which features Kinect voice support. New trailer for the upcoming Gears Of War: Judgment in 2013. It is a prequel. Read More...

Aggrocast Episode Ninety Eight: Pre-E3 2012 Expectations
by Brian Bentley [ Friday, 1st of June 2012 - 04:44 PM ]
It's that time again. The Electronic Entertainment Expo is looming and that means it's time for Matt, Corey and Brian to drop the gloves and pontificate the possibilities of what will happen next week at E3. The list of games the guys go over is too long to write out here...much like the podcast itself. It goes so long in fact, we had to break it up into two chunks. The bulk of it is here in Episode 98, but keep an eye here on Aggrogamer for a special bonus podcast of what happens when the discussion really heats up. Read More...

by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 31st of May 2012 - 06:37 PM ]
It is that time of year again as I am sure you know. E3 is just a few days away. We will get to see all the new games, teasers, announcements and hardware we will all be pining over for the next year or so. We'll be there along with every other media outlet. Unlike them though, I want to know what the f**k you want to see out of E3 and not just what I want to check out. So here's your opportunity. Let me know and I'll do my godly best to get something for you. Read More...

PAX East Hands-On: Double Dragon Neon
by Matt Waitt [ Thursday, 12th of April 2012 - 04:39 PM ]
On the floor of PAX East was a small booth that had a pillar like set up with four different games. One of those games was hidden away from the casual viewing eye. That game was Double Dragon Neon, an upcoming XBLA game that not only impressed me with its beautiful art style, but also its nostalgic atmosphere. I know the audio quality is not the best, but hopefully you guys can understand everything. Read More...

PAX East Hands-On: The Secret World
by Matt Waitt [ Wednesday, 11th of April 2012 - 09:26 PM ]
During the hectic weekend at PAX I got a chance to check out The Secret World, the new MMO from Funcom. I sadly didn't get any play time due to interviews and my horrible memory. But I do have a video for you guys, so please enjoy. The Secret World comes out for PC on June 19th, 2012 developed by Funcom and published by EA. Read More...

PAX East Hands-On: Borderlands 2
by Matt Waitt [ Wednesday, 11th of April 2012 - 04:17 PM ]
Borderlands 2 is a massive improvement from the first installment. The controls are super smooth and tight. The feeling of level grinding seems to have disappeared, thankfully. Having other colors in the game, rather than just brown, has really showed off the rich and beautiful landscape that the world of Pandora has to offer. I got to play as the new Siren in the game: Maya. Her special ability stuns her enemies in a blackish purple vortex allowing you to get off some free shots. Read More...

PAX East Hands-On: Spec Ops: The Line
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 10th of April 2012 - 09:48 PM ]
At PAX East I got to try out a little bit of the single player campaign for Spec Ops: The Line, and had a great interview with one of the developers. I really enjoyed the demo at PAX East. It was very smooth and had responsive controls. There events where you had a chance to negotiate with your enemies, but if things went sour you had to reap the consequences. For instance one group of enemies had a hostage and was threatening to kill him. Instead of waiting for them to assassinate him, I made a quick decision to kill the enemies and save my team mate's life. Read More...

PAX East Hands-On: Aliens: Colonial Marines
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 10th of April 2012 - 05:28 PM ]
I had the privilege to speak with the senior producer of Aliens: Colonial Marines at PAX East over the weekend. They were also giving a demo of the Multiplayer. The Multiplayer was very team oriented and forced you to work together to defeat your opponents. The only mode we played was Team Deathmatch. The marines would all huddle around each other and pick off the Xenomorphs as they tried to separate the marines. One on one a marine has a very high chance of losing to a Xenomorph mainly due to its "pounce" ability. Read More...

PAX East Hands-On: Wreckateer
by Matt Waitt [ Monday, 9th of April 2012 - 10:28 PM ]
At PAX East I got to try out Microsoft's Kinect for the first time ever, and the first game I played on it was Wreckateer. Wreckateer is an XBLA game that revolves all around destroying castles (hey, who doesn't love wrecking stuff?) The plot behind destroying castles is that you are a part of a demolition crew who is hired by the king to destroy abandoned and unwanted castles that have been overrun by goblins. Stepping forward and putting your hands together loads up the catapult, as you step back the catapult draws back, the more you move backwards the more powerful the shot. You then spread your arms apart and the shot takes off. Read More...

PAX East Hands-On: Lollipop Chainsaw
by Matt Waitt [ Monday, 9th of April 2012 - 04:36 PM ]
During PAX East I got to get some playtime with Lollipop Chainsaw and interviewed the legendary Suda 51. Lollipop Chainsaw had some very smooth and tight controls, chaining attacks between kicking and swinging the chainsaw was simple enough to button mash if you wish, but at the same time complex enough to satisfy those who frown upon the mashing of buttons. The demo started off in a farm-like area, where some good ol' zombies popped up and begged for me to slay them (not really, but I could tell they were asking for it). Every time zombies pop up there is a counter on-screen that tells you exactly how many are there and need to kill. Read More...

Have A Good Look At The Secret World's Character Creation
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 22nd of March 2012 - 05:11 PM ]
It's been a little quiet on The Secret World front for a while. I think we are due some new info or visuals. Don't you? Funcom did recently have a showcasing of the character creation system and a bit of actual game play, but it was for press only. Most of you out there probably didn't get a chance to check it out, I know I didn't. That is until now. Funcom must have felt bad that got to see the new stuff so they up and decided to post part of the presentation online. Read More...

So I know it may be a little late in the game and that most of you have already seen Quantic Dream's new Tech Demo titled Kara but I still felt like you needed to have my opinion on it. If you feel otherwise, why did you click the link here? But in all seriousness, if you haven't seen the demo yet I have included it just below. Take a look and then continue on for the rest of these ramblings. So while this is just a tech demo showing off the amazing talent of Quantic Dream one would have to say that it is extremely impressive. Read More...

Aggrocast Episode Ninety One: 2012 Prognostications
by Brian Bentley [ Tuesday, 24th of January 2012 - 05:00 PM ]
2012 is starting off strong here at Aggrogamer with a rousing (and slightly longish) discussion here on the Aggrocast. Corey, Matt and Brian talk about the slew of demos they've played including Kingdoms of Amular: Reckoning, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Warp and The Darkness II. Care / Don't Care has the guys talking about what Brian saw at CES 2012 and Community Spotlight shines on the ECA and their exceptional showing during the recent fight against SOPA. Lastly, the guys wrap up the show with their predictions on where 2012 will go for the gaming industry with a take on Care / Don't Care called I Believe / Make Believe. Then, right before the crew wraps up, Corey throws out for discussion the recent job posting by Blizzard for their next MMO. Read More...

CES 2012: Nyko Gets You Ready For Vita
by Brian Bentley [ Friday, 20th of January 2012 - 10:47 PM ]
With the US release of the PlayStation Vita looming on February 22nd, CES 2012 was buzzing with information about the handheld device. One aspect you may not have considered is about what kind of peripheral hardware will be available to utilize with your PS Vita. I can tell you that Nyko has spent a lot of time considering the needs of the Vita consumer and they have you covered. I stopped by the Nyko booth at CES and found a solid Vita hardware lineup for you to enjoy. First, the item that stood out the most was the Speaker Stand. Read More...

CES 2012 Hands On: Sorcery
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 17th of January 2012 - 11:02 PM ]
Here's a title that was announced when the Move controller was first brought up on the E3 show floor. Since then, there has been very little on Sorcery outside of the recent game play videos. You can only imagine how I felt when I saw that Sony was showing this title off in their gaming section at CES. Finally we got to see how the game has evolved and how it will actually play. Also if it was going to hold up to my anticipations of being a Move game that could actually push the motion controller off of shelves and into use. Read More...
