The Mass PAX Effect... 2
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Saturday, 5th of September 2009 - 08:16 PM ]
PAX isn't even in full swing yet and already the new shots and images are pouring in. Not just from the lesser known titles either. But the major ones too. Like this little game you might have heard of, Mass Effect 2. Maybe you've heard of it, maybe you haven't. Then again, you may have been living in an underground bunker with your parents since the 1950's and missed out on everything up until now. Cookie, online, if you catch the reference there. All humor aside now. Read More…

PAX Hands On Impression: Aion
by Binh Nguyen [ Saturday, 5th of September 2009 - 03:16 PM ]
Arriving a bit late to PAX 2009 in Seattle, Washington and finally entering the Washington State Convention Center. The first game that I went and found was not what you would think. No, it wasn’t to the Blizzard booth to play more World of Warcraft. Instead I headed to the NCSoft booth to play their new Massive Multi-play Online game, Aion. Making a character was easier than I thought it would be and the customization was a lot more detailed as well. After making my female warrior for the game and logging in, I found the cut scene for the game action packed and was very interesting to get into. Read More…

Review: Fate/Unlimited Codes Portable
by Michael Camacho [ Saturday, 5th of September 2009 - 01:11 PM ]
Fans of the anime series Fate/Stay Night have been clamoring for an American release of the fighting game series the anime was based off of. Finally Capcom has answered the fans with the release of Fate/Unlimited Codes Portable for the PSP as a download only title on PSN. Fate/Unlimited Codes Portable is exactly what its title describes, as it is the portable version of the PS2 port available only in Japan. Before I get into my review, I would like to say my review is based upon the Japanese version, and the only major difference between the two releases is the translated text in the U.S. Read More…

by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 4th of September 2009 - 11:07 PM ]
Even though you may not have been able to make it to PAX this year, for what ever reason or another, don't think you are going to be left out in the dark on fun content updates. Fun content like new screen shots and the fact behind Jumpgate Evolution from Codemasters. Like the ones that we swiped on placed here for you. You know down below, where they usually on when we bring up the fact that there are new screens. This MMO looks very interesting from the facts and images here though. Read More…

First PS3 Compatible Cell Phone, Available In October (In The UK...)
by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 4th of September 2009 - 09:30 PM ]
I'm a gadget guy. I love all gadgets and the range of things that they can do seems to be limitless. With 3G technology, soon to be 4G, and more and more mobile games becoming available, it seems that phones and gadgets are quickly becoming the next stage of portable gaming. Well heres the next step. Sony has announced their latest European phone The Aino back in May, but no one expected it to be ready so quickly. Sony says the new phone will be available in the UK in October. Read More…

Turbine Announces new Lord of the Rings Online Expansion
by Brian Bentley [ Friday, 4th of September 2009 - 07:36 PM ]
Today Turbine announced the latest expansion to their immensely popular Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, Lord of the Rings Online. Entitled Siege of Mirkwood, the press release comes on the heels of Blizzard's announcement last month of an expansion to...whatever that game is...Turbine looks at this as an epic ending to their award-winning expansion, Mines of Moria. For those that listen to the Aggrocast, it is no secret that I am a big fan and lifetime subscriber to Lord of the Rings Online. This announcement pleases me in that Turbine continues a strong commitment and involvement in this game and the community. Read More…

Climax Action Comes to the Tokyo Game Show
by Kevin [ Friday, 4th of September 2009 - 05:10 PM ]
The more I hear and read about Bayonetta, the more I can appreciate the game for what it is - or what it potentially will be. You've heard how the protagonist essentially becomes more and more naked with different attacks, and how her hair transforms into weapons, and how the game contains "Torture Combos", "Witch Time", and "Non-Stop Climax Action". However, what you don't know is that I actually met with Sega for a game similar in both tone and style which I dubbed Thana-Nude the Pistolista. My game, which contained "Hot Sticky Combination Attacks", "Uncomfortable Whimpering Time", as well as "Parent Angering Immoral Fatal Thrust Strikes", focused on Thana-Nude - a 'death fairy ronin' who fell from the sky after the great seperation of the Lost Tombs of Zeebs in the Seventh Ascenion. Making Getting A Job Testing Games A Game
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 4th of September 2009 - 02:56 PM ]
We all have heard it before. What would be the best job for a gamer? Playing/Testing games is generally the answer. I'm a fan of paid to just live, but hey, that's not going to be likely. Also not the point here. Yesterday (9/3/09), Sony and the SCEA Studios are giving gamers just that chance. The chance to be one of their game testers for at least a year. Not only that, but to be paid to be one of their game testers for a year. Something that is nigh impossible for someone to get into even though they have all the qualifications for it. Read More…

by Jesse [ Friday, 4th of September 2009 - 12:51 PM ]
Imagine being a happy go lucky superhero. You’re young, superpowered, and the leader of a superhero team that stars in their own reality show. All of a sudden you make a mistake. You’re entire team is killed on camera along with over six hundred civilians, sixty of which were children. That is Robbie Baldwin’s world. While in high school, Robbie worked part-time in a lab. As a result of an experiment gone wrong, an unknown type of energy altered Robbie generating a kinetic energy field around his body. Read More…

Four Fighters For Fairytales
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 3rd of September 2009 - 10:13 PM ]
Given the last teaser trailer for Fairytale Fights, I was already excited to swing an axe with Snow White and a chainsaw with Naked Emperor. Who wouldn't want to kill a bunch of creatures with the "sweet and innocent" characters from fairytale lore right? Well here is another go at getting one back into the mind set of doing this. A nice new trailer. If that trailer wasn't enough, Playlogic also throws in the fun announcement of 4 player online gameplay for console and PC. Read More…

Assassinating Never Looked So Good
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 3rd of September 2009 - 07:52 PM ]
As Ubisoft promised, just before PAX we are given the little gem of an Assassin's Creed 2 gameplay video. Why they did it before, I have no clue. But I'm not going to complain and neither will you after you get to see how awesome the new game has shaped up. So many more improvements over the first Assassin's Creed and so many new features added, not that the first one was rubbish. It wasn't at all. Ubisoft just did the sequel very right. Read More…

Dark Days Are Continuing
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 3rd of September 2009 - 04:31 PM ]
While Funcom has stated they were going to finally be showing more of their new IP, The Secret World, that doesn't stop stuff from being slipped out to cause a stir around the net. This time it is the continuation of the trailer we brought you way back in April. I'm sure you've seen it by now. It is the one with the random hot chick drinking a milk shake, going into her apartment, and then being attacked by mister bondage face. Ring a bell? No? Read More…

Review: Final Fantasy: Dissidia
by Binh Nguyen [ Thursday, 3rd of September 2009 - 11:41 AM ]
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to combine the elements from a role playing game and fighting game? Ever wonder what it would be like to play some of your favorite heroes from the 8 bit, PlayStation, and PlayStation 2 days? Well wonder no more, as Square-Enix celebrates their 20th anniversary with the release of Final Fantasy: Dissidia for the PlayStation Portable. Even though this has been classified as a fighting game, it is certainly not for the Street Fighter, Tekken, or Soul Calibur crowd. The controls are really simple and you press the same buttons over and over again, but to learn the timing for each character's attacks to take advantage of the different terrain, makes the game much more interesting. Review: Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures Episode 4: The Bogey Man
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 3rd of September 2009 - 05:22 AM ]
If you wish to read my review of Episode 1: Fright of the Bumblebees and get more background, click here. My review of Episode 2: The Last Resort is here. The most recent, Episode 3: Muzzled! is here. All good things must come to an end, so they say. As it is in overused quotes, so it is with the delightful Wallace&Gromit's Grand Adventures from Telltale Games. This marks the fourth and final tale of England's favourite inventor and his clever canine companion. Alliteration aside, Episode 4: The Bogey Man closes up any holes left in the moderately overarching narrative of the tetralogy while leaving more than adequate room to follow up with a new story for this duo.
