Let's See That CoD Black Ops Uncut
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 20th of May 2010 - 04:23 PM ]
The first amendment is one of the few things that we Americans love to hide behind when we are not being cattle and following the "in" crowd. When we truly speak our minds and in turn get ridiculed or condemned for what we say; All because it is against the majority. But that doesn't make it any less a right we have been empowered with so we can say what we want without much worry. You know who we have to thank for that, our great military men and women who go out under orders and slaughter those who would slap our hands with rulers for saying "poopie." So in honor of those men and women, I give you the First Amendment version of the Call of Duty: Black Ops trailer. Read More...

Infinity Ward Keeps Melting Down
by Brian Goodman [ Friday, 16th of April 2010 - 05:17 PM ]
You can not follow game industry news and not have noticed the countless reports of the drama currently going on between publishing giant Activision and successful Call Of Duty developer Infinity Ward. Even legitimate news sources have covered the huge lawsuit frenzy that has been going on. Today, industry analysts have suggested that as many as 20 more Infinity Ward Employees are projected to no longer be employed by the company in a month's time (source Gamespot). Even though strong sales of the Modern Warfare 2 map pack DLC suggest a short term financial positive for Activision, the stock has continued to go down. I may not be a business tycoon or an expert economist, but I do know this Activision. Read More...

Infinity Ward Founders Respawn
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 12th of April 2010 - 06:01 PM ]
Not long ago Activision "let go" the co-founders of Infinity Ward, Jason West and Vince Zampella. Well it looks like these two guys have decided to start a new gaming company and get a new publisher. Jason West and Vince Zampella are two industry leaders who brought the amazing Call of Duty franchise to homes everywhere. Now brushing off the dust from a rumor filled departure, Jason and Vince have founded Respawn Entertainment. The website is up and running, and probably the simplest website in the world. Top Heads of Infinity Ward Leave
by Michael Camacho [ Tuesday, 2nd of March 2010 - 11:07 PM ]
This morning many awoke to rumors quickly circulating the internet and news sites about prominent figures at Infinity Ward being fired by Activision, supposedly even with "bouncers" removing them from their offices. Patrick Klepek of G4's The Feed initially broke the possible story. The rumors began gaining credibility as Jason West's Linkedin page now stated he used to work for Infinity Ward and a Facebook status claimed unemployment. Activision finally confirmed the rumors late this afternoon/early evening. Jason West and Vince Zampella have both been let go from the developer. Read More...

Review: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
by Ben Brody [ Friday, 13th of November 2009 - 03:33 AM ]
As I looked at the massive amount of people at my local GameStop that were in line to pickup MW2, it dawned on me, this is the biggest, most anticipated, and what could be the best selling action game of all time. Over 300 people were standing in the cold for some four hours waiting for the same thing. Many of them planned on calling in sick the next day or skipping out on school just to get some playtime in. Many people were reminiscing about COD4 or saying how they played a bunch of COD4 to get psyched up about MW2. Read More...

Modern Warfare 2 PC Boycott?
by Ben Brody [ Friday, 23rd of October 2009 - 01:28 AM ]
Infinity Ward recently announced that their upcoming Modern Warfare 2 won't be supporting dedicated servers, something that PC gamers have 99% of the time, replacing it with something called IWNet, a proprietary server system ran by Infinity Ward themselves. Before we get ahead of ourselves, let's make a list of pro's and con's. Pros: Less Cheaters Less Lag Better Matchmaking No Clan Servers No Custom Configs Cons: No Mod Support Chance that IW could disconnect and end servers at anytime for any reason No Clan Servers No Custom Configs Unable to play on “favorite” servers, only way to play with same group of people is to be in the same party or clan While console gamers have never had their own dedicated servers (save a few games like Section 8, Evolution 4x4, and a few others), it's rare for a PC game to do away with it (and yes, COD4 had dedicated servers). Why this move was made is beyond anybody's idea however it seems that Infinity Ward would like to either Nazi their PC players Pave the way for a pay-for service Get rid of Modders Genuinely want to get rid of hackers Announce that they are taking it away, to drive some gamers away, then announce that they will include it, and gain even more gamers to it due to the news (IE: New Coke) Kill the ability for pirated copies of MW2 to be played online. Aggrocast Episode Forty Four: Launches, Lawsuits and Laughter
by Michael Camacho [ Sunday, 11th of October 2009 - 06:47 PM ]
Episode 44 of the Aggrocast has landed and unfortunately for the crew, we have had some busy weeks lately. This has resulted in too few games being played. We do talk about the few we got our hands on, including Halo 3 ODST, Beatles Rock Band, Aion and more. We also bring you some interesting topics this week. We go over the PSP Go launch and Binh discusses his hands on with his launch day system. The possibility looms that I bought one as well, but refuse to say if I did or not. Read More...

Call of Duty Movie Gets Trademarked
by Ben Brody [ Wednesday, 7th of October 2009 - 11:26 AM ]
A Call of Duty movie?!? There's a laundry list of great games turned into horrible movies (many of them belonging to Uwe Boll) and it looks like Call of Duty may be added to that list. While it may not be for certain, a trademark filing followed by a mysterious tweet certainly make it look like it could be “in the works” at the minimum. Activision is known for trademarking far more things than necessary, however it would make sense with all the other video game movies that have been announced. The tweet is here: http://twitter. Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 3 Makes a Splash
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 6th of August 2009 - 09:14 PM ]
With the third map pack for Call of Duty: World at War dropping today on the PSN and XBox Live Marketplace today, I think it's about time console shooter fans finally cut Treyarch some slack. They have really supported the crap out of this game during the post-release lifecycle, this time with multiplayer maps, a zombie map and new achievements/trophies. After selling over 11 million copies of the game and over 4 million downloads, they could very easily just sit on their laurels and rake the cash in. Instead, they are continuing their support of this game with another release of new content. Read More...

Call of Duty 4 gets confirmed for the Nintendo Wii
by Ben Brody [ Wednesday, 5th of August 2009 - 07:33 PM ]
Wii owners have often gotten the short stick when it comes to Mature rated shooters. The “kiddy” system has hosted just a handful of M rated games and most of them fail to find a broad audience (think MadWorld and Manhunt 2). However Wii owners yearning for more will finally get a shot in the arm on Nov 10th, when Call of Duty 4, aka Modern Warfare 1, aka the best selling shooter of all time, comes out for the Wii. Coincidentally it is the same day its sequel comes out for the 360, PS3, and PC. The port will be handled by Treyarch, who had previously developed World at War (for all systems, including the Wii). The World Still at War
by Jesse [ Friday, 24th of July 2009 - 06:07 PM ]
Whether you love them or hate them, Activision and Treyarch have to be commended on their DLC support behind Call of Duty: World at War. Presently it looks like August is going to see more of that support with the release of a third map pack. As with the previous two downloadable packs, the third set of maps will feature 3 standard multiplayer maps, Battery, Breach, and Revolution, as well as a Nazi Zombie map entitled Der Riese. Battery is said to take place on an armored island surrounded by anti-ship mines. Breach will be an all out firefight set on the streets of Berlin, Germany. Read More...

So today is Release Tuesday and here's a rundown of what's coming out: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince It's odd that a movie-based game comes out this early before the actual movie (the movie comes out July 15th in the US/UK and the July 29th in IMAX, it should also be noted the movie has been in the can since May of 2008) The game which semi-follows the movie which semi-follows the book will be released for (here we go) the PS2, PS3, 360, Wii, PC/Mac, DS, and PSP.
