Don't Forget Assassin's Creed Revelations Is Coming Out Next Week
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 11th of November 2011 - 05:31 PM ]
With all the games that we have/will be bombarded with in the short time frame, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Modern Warfare 3, Need For Speed: The Run, Saints Row: The Third and Halo Combat Evolved to name a few, let's not forget Assassin's Creed: Revelations is also in the mix - coming up here on the 15th to be exact. I personally haven't seen all that much effort to drive the date home and this is one of my favorite franchises recently. I figured I'll give a little bit of (our) site time to the game. Read More...

The World Of Skyrim - Reaching New Heights
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 9th of November 2011 - 10:47 PM ]
The latest developer's diary is up at the Elder Scrolls Community page, and this time we are taken into the world of Cyrodiil and we see this world brought to life. Full of character and lush landscapes, this massive world is a time sync TES fans know and love. If you haven't checked it out yet I also recommend for the more technical reader to check out the brief history of Cyrodiil. This way you can see how a game world takes shape from a more technical aspect. It's amazing the detail that this team has brought into the world. Read More...

Did You Know Modern Warfare Was Released Today?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 8th of November 2011 - 06:04 PM ]
Of course you did if you are browsing this site. Be it a fan of the franchise or not, you know it launched today. If not, welcome to the internet and the modern age. You've missed a lot while you were holed off from the world or in the middle of M. Night Shamalama-ding-dong's Village. So what is the point here? I know you are thinking that. This is my obligatory "Did You Know The Game That Almost Every Gamer Is Clamoring For Modern Warfare 3 Launched" article. Read More...

A Moment of your Time...
by Bryan Ray [ Tuesday, 8th of November 2011 - 01:21 AM ]
Greetings fellow gamers! If I could have a brief minute, I would like to tell you about myself. My name is Bryan Ray, frequently referred to as King Xanadu, and I will be writing for Aggrogamer over the next several months. (Perhaps years? I like the thought.) I play mostly XBox 360 though I do have a Steam account for my dated laptop (It's old enough to have a “supports Windows Vista” sticker on it) but I don’t use it as much as I’d like. I love music, a lot. So much that I am currently attending college for it. Read More...

The Sound Of Skyrim - Making A Dragon Sandwich
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 7th of November 2011 - 10:01 PM ]
There are a ton of factors that go into making a game: graphics, UI, scripting, but one feature that really stands out and can make or break a game is the sound. Bethesda has released their latest podcast featuring Mark Lampert - Bethesda game studios Audio Director - giving a full look at what went into making the music and sounds of Skyrim. I've always found voice acting and soundtracks to video games such an interesting element, so it's always fascinating to see how much goes into it from the other side of the screen. Check out the video below. Read More...

Great Games Under $30
by Matt Waitt [ Monday, 7th of November 2011 - 05:16 PM ]
Are you bored? Tired of playing that new game you just got because it didn't live up to its hype? Got some extra cash? Well then, you're in luck. I've made a list of some really good games under $30. First up we got Guitar Hero: Warriors Of Rock. The final Guitar Hero went out with a bang, featuring one of the best heavy metal and rock set lists I've ever seen as well as some really cool power ups. Warriors Of Rock has the first story line in a Guitar Hero game. While it's certainly not the best it is still very enjoyable; especially the final battle against The Beast. Read More...

by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 4th of November 2011 - 05:02 PM ]
As you can tell with just a little over a week left until The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is released. I'm a little excited. Ok… I can't wait for this game. There is a lot that's coming down the pipe recently from Bethesda Studios and we recently got a look at the behind the scenes and the making of Skyrim. What you're about to watch is called "The making of Skyrim - Behind the Wall." It is a short documentary from Bethesda Studios about the making of Skyrim. Read More...

Skyrim Artists Release Podcast And Concept Art
by Corey Dockendorf [ Thursday, 3rd of November 2011 - 05:49 PM ]
The Elders Scrolls V: Skyrim is just around the corner and the Bethesda artists have taken to the web and are giving us a look at what goes into (conceptually) creating the world of Skyrim. Also a podcast with some excellent commentary, Completely Blue Sky: The Art Of Skyrim is a must listen for any Elder Scrolls fan. "(Adam) Adamowicz, a Bethesda veteran, was joined by his friend (Ray) Lederer in the fall of 2008. The two have known each other for over a decade, putting them very clearly on the same page in both art and attitude. Read More...

Grand Theft Auto V Now Has It's Trailer...Straight Outta Vinewood
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 2nd of November 2011 - 05:40 PM ]
The wait is now over GTA fans. The first trailer for Grand Theft Auto V can be seen below in all of its glory. At least in the glory of having a trailer that really doesn't tell us much. Outside of heavy hints at a Los Angeles-type setting and a time period of being current. But hey, it is better than just having a tweet that said the game was coming. We all get to see that the game is in full production and not just some pre-production limbo for now. I, for one, was wishing that Rockstar would have deviated from the normal GTA staples and gone outside of the box - at least in the realm of game world. Read More...

Trailer Park (11/1/11)
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 1st of November 2011 - 10:39 PM ]
Alright it's time for the next installment to "Trailer Park". This time I have a few new trailers lined up for you guys. I hope you all enjoy. Our first trailer today is a new "grind house style" trailer for Grasshopper Manufacture's new game: Lollipop Chainsaw. The trailer features the cliché grind house voice over guy and a scantily clad cheerleader named "Juliet Starling" who just happens to be the main character. Lollipop Chainsaw follows Juliet and her family as they fight off hordes of mindless zombies in her high school. The horde of zombies are controlled by a group of "rock and roll" zombies. Review: Spider-Man: Edge Of Time
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 25th of October 2011 - 08:30 PM ]
Just in the nick of time, Spider-Man is back in another game for us to take on the many comic book villains who plague New York in Spider-Man: Edge Of Time. While not a direct sequel to last year's Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, it does have at least two of the dimensions represented and makes reference to the "Other Guys" from the game. That said, does SM: EoT reach or beat the bar that was set last year? We'll let's see. Read More...

New Halo Anniversary Trailer Says What's Old is New
by Matt Waitt [ Wednesday, 19th of October 2011 - 02:07 PM ]
A new "BTS" or "Behind The Scenes" trailer has been released for the upcoming Halo: Anniversary. The trailer shows off a lot of new stuff such as Skulls in Campaign, as well as Kinect and 3D support. I was previously on the fence for getting Halo: Anniversary, but after watching this trailer, I can honestly say I'm 100% sold on this. The aforementioned were not the only improvements, now there is easier navigation through the Library. Many of you perhaps remember - as I did - getting lost hundreds of times while the flood eats your face. Read More...

Epic Fail
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 18th of October 2011 - 08:12 PM ]
It was a sweltering summer afternoon, my friend Curt and I were sheltered by an air conditioner on full blast. Inside our sanctuary we spent countless days acquiring callouses and sores on our thumbs as we played endlessly the games of our childhood. One moment in particular stands out from the rest, after many hours and a few dozen restarts Curt and I managed to make it to the final stage of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project for the Nintendo Entertainment System. An eruption of joy and excitement exploded inside me. Too young to control the sudden burst of joy, I jumped off my bed and screamed "YEAH! Read More...

Review: X-Men: Destiny
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 18th of October 2011 - 05:55 PM ]
I am both a fan of X-men and comic books in general. I have many fond memories of playing the four-player, beat-em up style Konami arcade game back in the 80's and I have spent more than a few hours playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 with my buddies. Silicon Knights' newest title, X-Men: Destiny, should have been a no-brainer - backed by such a great concept as it boasted being the next great brawling action game where you could create the mutant you always believed should be in this universe. Unfortunately due to its execution, the game becomes really diluted, which knocks it down a few notches on the likeability scale. Before the game starts, the game will ask you to choose one of three distinct characters - each with their own minor story line. Read More...
