I gave Skyrim's Hearthfire DLC approximately 25 hours of my life this past weekend. Considering all of the not-so-sure attitudes towards it, I gave it a try. Once I started my game I did a bit of running around Skyrim. Finally, an 80% naked courier approached me to propose a message from the Jarl of Farkreath stating that I could buy land in that area. There are a total of three plots of land you can purchase from Farkreath, Dawnstar, or Morthal. You can get all three if you would like.
