PAX East Hands On: Daylight
by Kenton Winkfield [ Wednesday, 27th of March 2013 - 04:19 PM ]
I’ve said it before; it's tough not to grab my attention when I get shown a video game. But it is tough to pull me away from one that already has my attention. Zombie Studios showcased their game Daylight at the Astro Headset Booth, which was close to Square Enix, my favorite developer/publisher, and right next to Wizards of the Coast, makers of my favorite TCG, Magic: The Gathering. This is an incredibly difficult location for a game to be showcased if it wants to keep my attention. Zombie Studios had no trouble reaching that feat. Read More...

Review: PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
by Devin Ballard [ Friday, 1st of March 2013 - 10:30 PM ]
So before I get on the review, let me just say that I’m not big on fighting games. I’m more of an RPG, MMO, or FPS kind of guy. Seldom has a fighting game captured my attention and made me want to continue playing through both defeat and success, so when I say that I’m genuinely interested in PlayStation All-Stars just know that I don’t say that lightly. This is a cross-over fighting game made by SuperBot Entertainment and SCE Santa Monica Studio exclusively for the PS3. Big surprise right? Read More...

Our Favorite Boss Fights Ever - Part 1
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 19th of February 2013 - 08:10 PM ]
This is a collective list from the staff and readers on who, or what, their favorite boss battle in a video game is and why. It doesn't matter what genre or what boss, all that matters is if it's your favorite or not. It can be the boss that made you want to break your controller but you found yourself screaming "hallelujah" when you beat them. The boss that made your jaw drop when they hit "Phase II" or transformed into their true form. Hell, it can be the boss that just holds a special place in your heart. Read More...

So Many God Of War: Ascension Spoilers It Makes Kratos Sad
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Saturday, 2nd of February 2013 - 03:48 AM ]
It's been a bit since we've had some real updates or news about God Of War: Ascension so it would seem a good time to give a bit more. Screw it. Not a bit more. Let's go ahead and let loose the first 30 minutes of the game, a few screen shots, a video on how they made the Manticore, and the teased Super Bowl commercial. How does that sound? Spectacular is the word you are looking for. Read More...

Why So Serious?
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 23rd of October 2012 - 10:27 PM ]
I think the Joker summed up the past few years of video games quite well, with his famous saying "Why So Serious!?" It seems that today's industry has dropped the light-hearted and comical games of yester-years for a more gritty, hardcore, and serious tone. While I'm not saying these "serious" games are bad, I am saying that a break from them would be much appreciated. Video games are not all about world wars, political sabotaging, or saving the world from a cliché ultimate evil. We came from a very humble beginning, a beginning of stomping on weird brown monsters, using rainbows to squash bugs, and controlling fat pink things that suck up anything in their path. Read More...

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, Long Name For A Clone
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 2nd of May 2012 - 09:16 PM ]
It was rumored and "leaked" just like all of Sony's new info that comes out at E3, but now we have an official look and announcement of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. Gods that is a mouthful to say. We'll just go with PASBR from here on out just to save time. Now that we have that set, let's move on. For those who have no clue what PASBR is let me answer that question. It is effectively the PlayStation version of Super Smash Bros. Read More...

Review: Captain America: Super Soldier
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 19th of July 2011 - 09:41 PM ]
Just as other reviews recently, it is time yet again to take a look at another video game based on a Big Budget film. This time it is Captain America: Super Soldier based around the hero and forthcoming film of similar, but not exact title. Could this just be more slop like the Spider Man 3 game or can it actual surpass and be something worth your time? Let's take a look at how Cap' shapes up. The Story Intelligence has gotten back to the Allies that some of the allies to the Axis powers have been forging new technology that rivals that of Stark Industries during WWII. Read More...

Shocking New: Chris Evans To Voice In Captain America: Super Soldier
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 21st of February 2011 - 11:41 PM ]
Just like the announcement of Chris Hemsworth voicing Thor in the movie tie-in game of the same name, it looks like Chris Evans is doing the same for Cap. in Captain America: Super Soldier. As the title says, real shocking news right? I am almost certain that most of us saw this coming in the first place, so the announcement is really no big surprise. Just like I said for Thor the surprise would be that the game is at least worth a rental. Moving on from that, there are a few new screen shots below for us to look at and get all hopeful over. Get ready for another "Lets-Milk-The-Franchise-For-What-It-Is-Worth" game coming next year from Sega. Just in time for the feature film Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: Super Solder will be hitting shelves to cash in on the hype. Here is the trailer for the game just to show you what Sega has planned for the tie-in-but-not-based-on game for the film. At first glance it looks like it could have potential. It really does. Does Nintendo Make Kid Games Or Games For People Of All Ages?
by Brian Goodman [ Tuesday, 25th of May 2010 - 05:51 PM ]
So I was reading an opinion piece on Kotaku all about how Shigeru Miyamoto thinks he makes game that appeal to people of all ages - not just kids. The writer of the Kotaku piece made the comparison between Nintendo and Pixar, who has made arguably the best animated films of all time that are characteristically appealing to young children and adults alike. Something didn't feel right to me about that comparison. As a HUGE fan of Pixar I thought to myself; what makes Pixar films successful? Read More...
