WCG Ultimate Gamer 2: Episode 8 - Just As I Though
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 14th of October 2010 - 09:17 PM ]
So it is all over. After hearing spoilers and waiting to actually watch how it all played out, a new Ultimate Gamer has been crowned. In case you didn't see the show when it aired or on Hulu, I won't spoil the fun of reading my article by telling you who won. You need to read the recap, or at least scroll down to the bottom. "Disclaimer" I will make it no secret that I tried out for this season and was not selected due to XBox Live issues during game analysis. I was only able to connect for one of the sessions, and thus disqualified. Read More...

Valve Announces DotA 2
by Corey Dockendorf [ Thursday, 14th of October 2010 - 06:37 PM ]
Valve announced today that its latest title to be released in 2011 is DotA 2. Players have been waiting a while for this announcement considering Valve went on a Trademark spree and filed for the DotA and Defense of the Ancients name back in August of this year. According to the short and sweet press release: "Coming to the PC&Mac in 2011, DotA 2 promises to take the unique blend of online RTS and RPG action that has made DotA popular with tens of millions of gamers and expand upon it in every way." For those that don't know the name DotA comes from the Warcraft III mod Defense of the Ancients. Defense of the Ancients at its core is a small tactical, hero based strategy game which completely revamped the Warcraft III game and design by bringing a real RPG aspect to an RTS world. Vindictus Beta Through The Eyes Of A Player
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 13th of October 2010 - 04:57 PM ]
By Joseph Lavergne While I was on twitter one afternoon, I happened to win a beta key to a new free-to-play MMO called Vindictus by Nexon and Devcat. It is a visually striking new MMO with some good and bad points I have found since playing. The first fault I have found is the long download of the game. It took me about three hours and if I was to tried to access the internet for anything else, it would act like I had no connectivity at all. (i. Read More...

Batman Teaching Lessons On Sharing In Arkham City
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 12th of October 2010 - 07:56 PM ]
Ok, well maybe not sharing as you would think. Sharing his fist in criminal's faces mainly. But with images like the one next to this line, it looks like it could be something different. At least there is the sharing in the form of some new screen shots and concept art. All of which we have listed out below for your viewing pleasure. Maybe you can learn a thing on sharing and send them off to everyone else as excited for Batman: Arkham City as we are. Looking further into these images though, it looks like there are some new "heavy" types in the game. Read More...

Review: Dead Rising 2
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 11th of October 2010 - 09:05 PM ]
The zombie outbreak has now overtaken a good portion of the world now. Cites have been destroyed, human life is now precious even more so now yet everyone with a pulse has seemed to come to terms with zompoclypse. In fact, they have come to such great terms that game shows have popped up surrounding the total destruction of all of the infected. The most popular being Terror Is Reality, which has taken up shop in the new city of Fortune City just miles outside of a destroyed Las Vegas, NV. Speaking of Las Vegas, remember the Case Zero Review? Read More...

We Found The Best Zombie Plan
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 6th of October 2010 - 10:38 PM ]
We asked for your plans and we got a lot of submissions. Looks like all we have to do is place Contest, Prize and Zombies into an article and we get all you readers' creative juices flowing. Maybe it was just the first two, but I like to think positive when it comes to the seriousness of having a good zombie plan. In the end, the most creative and interesting was written by error_code (Rhai). I mean it was not only a "How To Survive The Initial Onslaught" type plan, but it also included the long term plan as well; including a "doomsday switch" in case the zombies somehow overrun the base of operations. Blizzard Officially Announces Cataclysm Release Date
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 4th of October 2010 - 03:07 PM ]
Blizzard finally graces us with the official announcement for the release of World of Warcraft: Cataclsym. I'm pretty sure everyone has figured it out by now, but it's nice to see that now it's "Official" and no longer simply speculation. Deathwing is coming and he's bringing a boat load of destruction with him. With an increase of the level cap to 85, two new races and a complete restructure of the old world, this is revving up to probably be the best expansion yet. So if you haven't already reserved your pre-order, digital download or time off from work on December 8th, you have plenty of time to make your arrangements and hit the ground running when the expansion comes out. Fable III Is Star Studded
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 29th of September 2010 - 08:33 PM ]
Fable III is drawing near, and recently we got a video diary which highlighted one of the most important pieces of the game, the cast. With a little bit of background from the characters as told by their voice over counterparts, this video gives us more of a deeper view into the world of Albion. Check out the video after the jump. With such amazing talent like Michael Fassbender, Stephen Fry, Simon Pegg, Sir Ben Kingsley, John Cleese, Zoë Wanamaker, Bernard Hill and Nicholas Hoult, players can expect hilarity and some fantastic voice over work. You can tell a lot about a video game, especially by its cast. Read More...

EA Giving APB Refunds?
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 28th of September 2010 - 06:22 PM ]
Did you purchase APB? Were you mad that you spent $50 on a game with 50 hours of playtime and never had the chance to play the whole time (really?). Well you and the 130,000 (so they say) like you are all experiencing the heartache from the closing of this Action-MMO. Fear not my friends there is a glimmer of hope for a few of you out there. First off let's start off by saying, if you bought APB on Steam you will not be able to get a refund (from Steam). Steam explicitly notifies its players they do not offer refunds. Read More...

Mini Review: Dead Rising 2: Case Zero
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 27th of September 2010 - 09:02 PM ]
On a leisurely escape from zombie-infested Las Vegas, Chuck and Katey Greene stop in the quiet town of Still Creek, just 46 miles outside of the metropolis. Katey is infected, but the constant supply of Zombrex is keeping that at bay. That is, until their car is stolen while stopping for a quick gas break. What kind of misadventures could that lead to? Not a bad set up for the prologue to Dead Rising 2, huh? Read More...

Michael Jackson Gets His Own Planet
by Corey Dockendorf [ Thursday, 23rd of September 2010 - 10:59 PM ]
For the first time in a long time, I am speechless. A game was announced that made me stare at my laptop and honestly not even know what to say. According to a press release from Bastion and SEE Virtual Worlds, they have signed a deal with Micheal Jackson's Estate and will be releasing an MMO called Planet Michael in 2011 for the Entropia Universe. This is the same company that is behind the Entropia Engine and another sci-fi MMORPG Planet Calypso (see a theme here?). Read More...

Review: Eagle Eye Converter
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 23rd of September 2010 - 05:06 PM ]
There are a lot of FPS players out there who whole heartedly believe that the only way to play them is the way they were originally designed; with a keyboard and mouse. If you are not one of these people, I am sure that you know at least one. Pretty much all the FPS players I know are purist when it comes to controlling their shooters. But what about those shooters that come out exclusively for consoles? Or those players who do not have a PC capable of some of the higher end FPSs but have a console that can? Read More...

This Is What BioShock Infinite's Game Play Looks Like
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 22nd of September 2010 - 06:41 PM ]
The tease is finally over. Irrational Games has finally let loose the game play footage that has been seen by so few before today. Now it is open to the world in general; even though it was suppose to be only on XBox Live today and then open tomorrow. How did Irrational not think someone was going to snag the clip off their XBox to share with the rest of us fans chomping at the bit to see what new things they have come up with? Anyways, the almost ten minutes of footage looks amazing. It is hard to gauge where all of this action is taking place in the game though. Read More...
