Skyrim Collectors Edition Announced At QuakeCon '11

Along with the Collector's Edition announcement, Todd Howard also showed off some Skyrim game play live to the audience. It was really entertaining to see every creature/NPC that Todd walked up too and to listen to the crowd react with uproars of "Kill it!" Check out the items that come with the new Collector's Edition below.

  • Alduin Statue: Created in conjunction with the IP Factory, this collector’s only statue stands 12” tall and is made of high quality PVC. Modeled from actual in-game 3D digital files, it showcases Alduin, the World Eater. He stands perched atop one the game’s many dragon walls that teach the player the lethal language of dragons.
  • ‘The Art of Skyrim’ Official Art Book: Featuring over 200 pages of striking, full-color illustrations, sketches and models, this stunning 9 3/8” x 12 1/8” coffee table book showcases the characters, creatures, environments, and weaponry of Skyrim. With a foreword by game director Todd Howard and commentary from Bethesda Game Studios artists, readers will be guided through the game’s iconic visual style.
  • ‘The Making of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’ DVD This documentary DVD contains exclusive, behind-the-scenes footage, including interviews with the Bethesda Game Studios team as they take you from concept to creation and provide insights into the story, game play, setting, legacy of the Elder Scrolls franchise, and much more.

The Alduin Statue is probably one of the clincher items that make the $150 price tag worth it for me personally. Bethesda says that this package will be released in very limited quantities, so if you want one you're probably going to have to pre-order, if not you may be out of luck on release day. I am assuming that the map that the rest of the items are sitting on is the same map that you receive when you pre-order the game. I can't confirm that yet, but it would make sense.

I really can't wait for this game to come out, but I know that once it does, the next 100 hours of my life from that point forward are forfeit to the beautiful world that is Skyrim. Anyone planning on getting the collector's edition? Price point to high or just right? Let us know what you think.
