by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 23rd of August 2010 - 08:55 PM ]
I hope you were not overwhelmed by the last batch of videos we brought to you from Gamescom 2010. There were a whole lot of new videos pumped out into cyberspace as we said before. Therefore, we would bring out even more of those videos posted throughout the convention's entire run. Just so you know what you are in store for, let me give you a quick over view: we have trailers for Sorcery, Patapon 3, Costume Quest, DC Universe and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. There is also some cool game play from Crysis 2 showing off the multiplayer aspect of the game. Not to mention, we have the two huge announcements from Insomniac Games: Resistance 3 and Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One - all great watches for you. Read More...

The Warriors Of Rock Play List Looks Like This
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 19th of August 2010 - 06:44 PM ]
Some people like making playlists based on what they are going to be doing. A hardcore or upbeat one for working out or funerals. A soft and romantic one for laying down their pimp/pimpess game. Even an All Rise list to get psyched for going out on the town. So what would the so called Warriors of Rock set up for them to go slay the beast and free the God of Rock? Apparently this nice little 93 track set ranging from Atreyu to Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. Some of these songs don't really seem to fit the motif of the game, but surprisingly there are quite a few that do. Read More...

Epic Mickey Opening Cinematic Released
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 16th of August 2010 - 11:27 PM ]
I had no idea what I was in for when I took the controls to play Epic Mickey at E3 2010. It did not take long for me to realize that the "epic" in the title was well earned. So, after taking command of one of the most recognizable characters in the world and playing for 15 minutes - creating and destroying at will - I was sold on Warren Specter's latest project. Today, I watched the just-released, jaw-dropping opening cinematic and I have gone from being sold to being ready to play it now. Take a look for yourself below and tell me you aren't just itching to play*. Read More...

Review: Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World - The Game
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 16th of August 2010 - 04:26 PM ]
The epic of epic epicness has finally hit the big screens after its popular start as a graphic novel. What better way to cash in on the fame than to make a video game based on it all too. Not only that, but a video game that captures the same look and feel of the graphic novel and film at that. This is what Ubisoft thought too by pitching the game in the fashion of a Mega Man 2 style. I am sure all of this already appeals to those of you who love comics and "retro" games, but let's break it down and see if Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World - The Game can actually take on the gaming world. Read More...

Activision To Put Gold In Your Hands
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 12th of August 2010 - 09:19 PM ]
Yesterday, Activision announced a new hardware bundle for Goldeneye 007 on the Nintendo Wii. Goldeneye 007 is a polished up remake of the Nintendo 64 game of the same name. Revered by many, the original Goldeneye is widely considered the pioneer of console shooters and the harbinger of competitive multiplayer on consoles. Along with the game's November release on the Wii, consumers will also be purchase the game bundle with a Classic Controller Pro - a gold Classic Controller Pro. You know, if having a golden gun in the game wasn't enough for you, you can now add a gaudy gold-colored controller. Read More...

Comic Con Hands On: Dead Space 2
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 3rd of August 2010 - 09:54 PM ]
It has been only a little over a month after we first brought you our thoughts on Dead Space 2 from E3. So what new can we bring you about DS2 that we haven't already talked about? Well, actually getting to take the reins of the demo they showed in the back rooms at E3 for one. If you have seen the game play from E3, then you know exactly what part of the game we got to look at behind curtains at Comic Con. Only this time we didn't have to rely on the game designers to tell us how great the new controls for Dead Space 2 are going to be. I can attest that they are just as tight and awesome as previously described. Read More...

Guitar Hero's Quest To Make Things Easier
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 2nd of August 2010 - 09:40 PM ]
There has always been a huge division between Rock Band and Guitar Hero. For me it was the difficulty factor for each and not completely about the sound tracks or "story" of the career mode. For a while it was Guitar Hero that was hard just to be hard and Rock Band with some form of a story mode - at least when it comes to the off shoots. That was until I started playing Guitar Hero 5 and found that the difficulty has been toned WAY down; mainly in the way of lenience on the precision of button timing. I have played so many songs on expert and have been able to hit notes I should have never been physically able to hit do to timing and finger placement. Read More...

Comic Con Impressions: Twisted Metal
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 2nd of August 2010 - 06:36 PM ]
Ever since it was announced at E3 that there would finally be a Twisted Metal making its debut on the PS3, I have been waiting ever so patiently for a really good showing of what the people over at Eat Sleep Play have accomplished - outside of the demo they had and modes announced. Perhaps reveal some story, game play modes or other characters. All those were all strongly touched on by David Jaffe at this year's Comic Con. This included showing a few behind-the-scenes views of the "cut scenes" they will be using for Twisted Metal. Read More...

Today, Virtual Play Games officially announced the release date of Intellivision Lives! on the Nintendo DS. Intellivision Lives! is a compilation game sporting over 60 games from the retro console's library. With this year being the 30th Anniversary of Intellivision, this is a perfect time to rekindle the fires of nostalgia. The game is set to release in September of this year. Growing up, I only ever had one friend that owned an Intellivision. Read More...

Comic Con Day 2: Night Of The Living Retardababy
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 29th of July 2010 - 10:33 PM ]
After having a bit of time to cool off about all of the events of the prior day, and receiving a few PR-like responses to messages about having issues with booth people, I trudged my way back to the convention space. It was truly a difficult thing to have to do after the abysmal treatment received the day before, but Friday was the day of the first big panel I needed to attend. That panel being Twisted Metal, but that comes later. The day was already off to a good start with almost being mugged for my Pop Tart by a sparrow and a good laugh being had by all. Read More...

We Can Bond Through Nostalgia Again
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 20th of July 2010 - 03:39 PM ]
Attention all those out there that can't seem to move on from the enjoyment they once had with GoldenEye back on the N64. I know you've been chomping at the bits to get a good look at what the remake of GoldenEye on the Wii is going to look like and play like. You know you have ever since Nintendo fully announced the title at E3. Don't lie. Well, wait no more. Read More...

Review: DeathSpank
by 345 [ Monday, 19th of July 2010 - 06:46 PM ]
DeathSpank is the latest game to feature Ron Gilbert's involvement, famous for creating The Secret of Monkey Island, among other games. Originally a comic strip character featured in one of Gilbert's Grumpy Gamer series, DeathSpank the game can be summed up as a loot game, similar to Diablo. However, the main difference (and gimmick) here is that the story and characters act as a parody to that genre, and the entire game itself is very much based around its humor. While this definitely adds to the charm and style of the game, it ultimately felt like the ironic clichés were too over-the-top and childish. Playing DeathSpank is relatively simple, and the controls are very similar to most any other dungeon crawler made for consoles in the past. Read More...

Review: Singularity
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 16th of July 2010 - 04:06 PM ]
So what would have happened in history if the U.S. wasn't a nuclear power during the cold war? Or for that matter, what if the USSR had some other form of power to lash out at the world? How would the world be changed? For the better or for the worse? Well this seems to be the main question brought up in Activision and Rave Studio's new game Singularity. You take control of U.S. Read More...

Guitar Hero Ready To Play Sets
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 9th of July 2010 - 10:50 PM ]
In the past with rhythm/music when it was time to inform the masses of the track lists usually we just got a long list of songs and artists for us all to gawk at. Sometimes Gods like me would go through the list and try to add a link to the song so you knew what it sounded like. Sometimes the titles don't really go with the part of the song we all know. It was a nice little thing I liked to give our readers. Well from the below video it looks like Activision is stealing a page from my book like Naughty Bear did. Read More...

Review: Transformers: War for Cybertron
by Binh Nguyen [ Tuesday, 6th of July 2010 - 08:18 PM ]
When Activision first announced that High Moon Studios would be making a Transformers game, I was a bit skeptical. That is, until I saw the trailer and screen shots of the game. Granted it is not the Transformers we all, or at least most of us, know and love. And no, I do not mean the recent live-action Transformers movie. I am talking about the 80's cartoon series, including the full length movie where I first cried over the fact that Optimus Prime died in the epic battle with Megatron*. Unlike the most recent movie-based Transformers game, High Moon Studio took everything we love about Transformers and created a 3rd person shooter with a great story. Read More...
