Another God Fighting In Mortal Kombat
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 8th of December 2010 - 11:44 PM ]
I thought it was called Mortal Kombat because it was suppose to be mortals fighting other mortals for the pleasure of the higher beings all in an attempt to save their worlds/universes/whatever. I always found it odd that there was a thunder god in the mix and has been since the original Mortal Kombat came out. Not very fair for super powered mortals to have to fight a god. I mean, they aren't Kratos or anything. Read More…

Time For A Tomb Raider Reboot
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 8th of December 2010 - 05:47 PM ]
Looks like it is that time again. You know the time to brush the dust off a franchise that paid off well in the past because we are running out of original ideas. Square Enix just let loose the announcement of another new Tomb Raider game. A full on game at that and not just a downloadable PSN/XBLA game. Only thing is, they are going to try and tell us all where Lara Croft came from…except it isn't the Lara we already know. Here is the short description of the title Crystal Dynamics will be working on. Read More…

PSN Is Becoming A Real World Of Warcraft?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 7th of December 2010 - 07:46 PM ]
I saw this coming since they announced it. Looks like the exclusive, for now, PlayStation Rewards Program is going to start adding "Quests" into the mix of ways to increase to the next tier of rewards. Yep, you will be able to get those awesome yellow question marks off the website or however you are able to check you progress. Then you can perform the task and turn it in for a little more of whatever they are calling XP for this. I don't know why they called this "Quests" when "Real World PSN Trophies" would have suited it better. Read More…

Shocking News! Thor's Film Actors To Voice Thor Video Game
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 6th of December 2010 - 05:17 PM ]
This just in! The guys who are playing Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hilddleston) are going to be voicing the characters in the game too. Not only that, but their likenesses will be used for the character models as well. Holy Fucking Shit Balls! I never would have guessed this in a bazillion years. Words cannot describe how fucking shocked I am. And that kiddies… is what we in the biz call sarcasm. Read More…

Review: Poker Night At The Inventory
by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 3rd of December 2010 - 07:09 PM ]
The guys over at Telltale Games recently released a title called Poker Night At The Inventory, which pits you against some infamous characters from the gaming universe. It's an interesting deviation from your typical Telltale fare like Sam&Max and The Tales Of Monkey Island series. The title is $4.99 on Steam right now, so let's see how it holds up. The game starts in front of a door where you head down a secret elevator leading to an exclusive club: "The Inventory." Here you are greeted by the host who escorts you to a table in the back room for a poker tournament with The Heavy from Team Fortress 2, Strong Bad (nuff said), Tycho from Penny Arcade and Max from Sam&Max. Onlive Monthly Charge Making a Come Back
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 3rd of December 2010 - 02:06 PM ]
I swear the monthly charge thing for Onlive is flip flopping more than Ross Perot's candidacy for President in the 90's. First they are going to charge a monthly fee just so you can buy or rent games. Then they take away the monthly fee and leave it open for anyone that wants to buy or rent games. Now they are offering a monthly fee again. At least this time it isn't just to have access to the games you have already purchased or rented. Looks like anyone that has picked up their MicroConsole or uses the PC/Mac app will have the ability to pay $9. Read More…

Video Games Saved My Wedding
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 2nd of December 2010 - 09:16 PM ]
Dealing with stress is different for each person. For those of you who have dealt with planning a wedding, you know the amounts of stress the participants encounter as the "big day" draws near. For those of you who haven't experienced it, imagine having a Christmas celebration at your place, except you're expected to buy all the presents (even the ones other people are giving each other), do all the cleaning, cook the entire meal, provide entertainment, make drinks and at the end – serve pie.* During the last few weeks prior to my wedding, both my fiancée (now wife, obviously) and I were both working full time and trying to tie up last minute details – of which there were many. We were always tired and our patience was thin. Read More…

Ghostbusters Heading Into A Sanctum Of Slime
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 2nd of December 2010 - 07:03 PM ]
With Ghostbusters: The Videogame selling over a million copies, it looks like Atari decided to milk our childhoods for more money by having Wanako Studios, a studio owned by the makers of Naughty Bear, slop together another game in the franchise. From these preliminary views, Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime is going to play just like Alien Breed or Dead Nation with a coat of Ghostbusters paint on it. A 3/4 view running around an area aiming proton beams to wrangle up all the unsavory specters. Maybe they will include the purple slime from the second film in some way. Read More…

Review: Call Of Duty: Black Ops
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 1st of December 2010 - 09:21 PM ]
We've been through WWII and up to Modern Warfare so now it is time to tackle two "wars" that seem to be glanced over by most FPS franchises. Yea, Call of Duty: Black Ops places us deep in the mix of the Vietnam War and the Bay Of Pigs Invasion all in another attempt to stop the Russians from destroying the U.S. This time they are trying it through chemical warfare and biological warfare. Review: Saw II: Flesh And Blood
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 29th of November 2010 - 07:47 PM ]
Another year and another, and touted as the last, Saw film and a new Saw game to go along with it. Some would say that the whole franchise has been going downhill for a long while now, on the film side, and Saw: The Video Game was not all that well received by gamers. "So why even make a sequel?" is what you have to be thinking. Is it to cash in on the last legs of the franchise? Read More…

The Shattering Is Upon Us And I Blame The Gnomes
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 24th of November 2010 - 04:43 AM ]
It's been six years to the day since the original release of World of Warcraft and how does Blizzard celebrate? By destroying the old world of Azeroth compliments of a big angry dragon made of fire and metal. According to a forum post by moderator Zaryhm the latest patch 4.0.3a has gone live on servers today thus changing the way denizens of Azeroth have adventured for years. The cinematic below is the same that you will see when you first login to your account, so if you haven't seen it (doubtful), or don't want to spoil it (your call) don't watch it! Let's take a quick look at what this new patch is actually brought today. Read More…

Although it launched on Steam last week to a rocky start, Petroglyph games released its latest content filled Map Pack, for the tiny price tag of $12. There has been some great content added and a few items that didn't make it in. So let's take a look at what we should be thankful for in this latest content release for Guardians of Graxia. Finally What Deus Ex Game Play Will Look Like
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 23rd of November 2010 - 04:19 PM ]
Up until now we have been given pre-rendered scenes and clips to show off Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Those clips did have some gorgeous visuals no doubt. I mean look at the studio and publisher for it, it's kind of what they are known for. But in the end, none of that did all that much to show off what we will actually get to control during the game. I also mean really control since the last "Game Play" clip was more scripted scenes than anything. Below is another clip showing off a bit more of what I mentioned we've missed so far, actual game play. Read More…

Blizzard Announces Cataclysm Launch Events
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 22nd of November 2010 - 09:58 PM ]
With The Shattering quickly coming upon us, and only two weeks away from the actual launch of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, it's time to don your party hats and celebrate the most anticipated launch title with Blizzard. The launch announcement comes right after news that this week we will see the launch of patch 4.0.3a The Shattering, which will destroy the face of Azeroth forever. Read More…

Review: DJ Hero 2
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 18th of November 2010 - 07:50 PM ]
Here we go with another rhythm game coming into the mix of things. Pun totally intended. The game this time is DJ Hero 2. The follow up and expansion on from last year's DJ Hero that let gamers hop into the world of "professional" DJing. Like every other title in the rhythm genre there are some new additions outside of the core track list. Some good, some not so good and some just kind of "What The F**k?" Let me break it all down for you and let you know if you should actually pick up a copy of DJ Hero 2. Read More…
