Rock Band 3 Inadvertently Smiles for Camera at Gamescom
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 20th of August 2010 - 05:32 PM ]
<UPDATE> So because media outlets got the jump on confirming all the tracks in Rock Band 3 Harmonix decided to come out and "un-officially" confirm the rumors listed below. Way to try to cover up your mess there. But this isn't an announcement no matter how you try to play it. You guys screwed up and this is damage control. Just call it as it is. Source </UPDATE> You would think that in the "YouTube" generation everyone would realize that there are cameras everywhere. Read More…

Two Kombatants Have Entered The Mortal Kombat
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 20th of August 2010 - 01:34 PM ]
It would appear we are in for a long wait to see the rest of the roster for the upcoming Mortal Kombat as it has been about two months since the big reveal at E3 and we are not even over the half way point roster-wise. We are at 12 characters - 10 of which confirmed playable - out of the 28 total and unless the GUI for character selection has changed, 26 of those will be playable . Now if you were a good reader and didn't skip to the images to see who was just shown off, nor if you figured it out from the article image, the two newly announced characters are Cyrax and Kitana. Both pretty much assumed from the beginning, but now completely confirmed. Read More…

Torchlight II Teaser Causing Salivation
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 19th of August 2010 - 09:14 PM ]
With the crazy amount of news coming out of Gamescom this year, even a little teaser trailer of the recently announced Torchlight 2 is generating plenty of buzz. Besides showing some outdoor environments, there really isn't a whole lot shown here, but the teaser did absolutely everything it needed to accomplish - raise the level of excitement and anticipation. I think our very own Corey Dockendorf demonstrated the proof in the pudding when he instant messaged me shortly after watching the trailer: "The new levels look pretty epic. If you all don't play with me, I'm gonna be pissed. Read More…

The Warriors Of Rock Play List Looks Like This
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 19th of August 2010 - 06:44 PM ]
Some people like making playlists based on what they are going to be doing. A hardcore or upbeat one for working out or funerals. A soft and romantic one for laying down their pimp/pimpess game. Even an All Rise list to get psyched for going out on the town. So what would the so called Warriors of Rock set up for them to go slay the beast and free the God of Rock? Apparently this nice little 93 track set ranging from Atreyu to Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. Some of these songs don't really seem to fit the motif of the game, but surprisingly there are quite a few that do. Read More…

by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 18th of August 2010 - 11:05 PM ]
Looks like players of Lord of the Rings Online will not have to wait much longer for the highly anticipated Free-to-Play content update. Today it was announced that Turbine will be releasing the update on September 10th. The entire free-to-play structure has been under close scrutiny by fans and the press alike. In response to that, Turbine has conducted a fairly long beta test of the new material. The update is not made up of just the new economic model. Read More…

Diablo 3 Announces The Caravan
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 18th of August 2010 - 08:39 PM ]
Diablo III, just the title sends a rush of excitement through players all over the world. Today at Gamescom the Blizzard team announced a new feature they are calling the "Caravan". What is the caravan? Well basically it's taking a group of skilled craftsmen with you where ever you go. Rather than going back to a town you will have a living breathing camp that follows you from location to location giving you round the clock access to NPC's, quest givers and artisans. Artisans will be your crafters, from blacksmiths to jewel crafters, and you will add these artisans to your Caravan as you travel the world, finding them through the main quest line. You will be working on gaining each artisan's loyalty by completing quest lines for each artisan while completing the main quest. Read More…

Nintendo Reminds Us They Have Games
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 18th of August 2010 - 05:19 PM ]
With Gamescom 2010 getting into full swing with news and announcements, Nintendo decided they wanted to remind its consumers that they too have games coming out this fall and that you won't want to miss them. Two games in particular were given solid release dates. Kirby's Epic Yarn and Donkey Kong Country Returns were big hits at E3 this year and have been generating huge buzz for their impending arrival. While I could never get close enough to play Kirby's Epic Yarn, I did have an opportunity to play with our large, simian friend. If you didn't catch my thoughts in our E3 podcasts, I can tell you here that the game is addictive... Read More…

World Of Warcraft Cataclysm Collector's Edition Announced
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 18th of August 2010 - 02:26 PM ]
In the tradition of Blizzard releases, today the World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Collector's Edition was announced. Collectors of the World of Warcraft series will not be disappointed because everything Blizzard does for its fans is all here - from a full color art book to a starter deck of World of Warcraft TCG (featuring Worgen for the first time). Just like the Collector's Editions before, there will of course be an in-game pet. This time it's Deathwing, which is totally going to hang out with my Onyxia whelpling. Read More…

Aggrocast Episode Seventy Six: Back into the Swing
by Brian Bentley [ Tuesday, 17th of August 2010 - 09:41 PM ]
Your continued re-acclamation to the AggroCast resumes with Episode 76. Mike is back and better than ever, bringing serious gaming mojo to the returning E3 heroes, Brian and Binh. Okay, perhaps heroes is a bit strong, but the team is getting back into the swing of things. A quick recap of E3 has Mike jealous that Brian and Binh were able to attend the show. This week's Bargain Bin is from the Halo Universe. On the DL travels into the land of Final Fantasy. Read More…

Dragon Age II Trailer Released At Gamescom
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 17th of August 2010 - 06:59 PM ]
Not long ago BioWare announced Dragon Age II with a website and more recently a good amount of information from hands-on previews and a full article in Game Informer. At the EA press conference in Cologne Germany during Gamescom, EA gave us our first look at the cinematic trailer for Dragon Age II and it is definitely worth watching. The trailer is titled "Destiny" and it is a spectacle to behold; nothing less should be expected from BioWare. The cinematic is beautifully rendered with some great looking characters and awesome action sequences. Read More…

More Songs Revealed For Dance Central
by Brian Bentley [ Tuesday, 17th of August 2010 - 04:43 PM ]
Today more songs were revealed for Harmonix's Dance Central at Gamescom 2010. Currently one of the only games worth purchasing Microsoft's Kinect, Dance Central combines music, fun and dancing to create an experience unlike any other. I know that phrase is used an awful lot in this industry, but after experiencing it for myself at E3, I can definitively say I will purchase a XBox 360 and a Kinect specifically for this title. With today's announcement, the song list increases to 20. With only 30+ songs promised on the disc, you may be concerned about the depth of the roster, but with a list that now includes Rihanna's "Pon de Replay" and Technotronic's "Pump Up the Jam", I don't think you have too much to worry about. Review: Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 17th of August 2010 - 02:39 PM ]
Last we left this extremely odd couple, they were fleeing for their life with Kane's daughter not too well off. Now, from what you have seen so far of the story, it is years later and the two seem to have become closer even over international lines. At least it seems they are closer because I know I wouldn't want to go meet up with a psychopath that moved to China unless I had a better bond than "We Broke Out Of Jail Together." In any instance, the duo is back and ready to cut a new deal to finally get Kane out of the life of crime. Only with their luck, things are just not that simple. Read More…

Epic Mickey Opening Cinematic Released
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 16th of August 2010 - 11:27 PM ]
I had no idea what I was in for when I took the controls to play Epic Mickey at E3 2010. It did not take long for me to realize that the "epic" in the title was well earned. So, after taking command of one of the most recognizable characters in the world and playing for 15 minutes - creating and destroying at will - I was sold on Warren Specter's latest project. Today, I watched the just-released, jaw-dropping opening cinematic and I have gone from being sold to being ready to play it now. Take a look for yourself below and tell me you aren't just itching to play*. Read More…

Now That Revolt From Deus Ex Can Be Seen
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 16th of August 2010 - 09:07 PM ]
Earlier, we got to see some new screen shots for Deus Ex. Really nice shots. In fact, to me they looked like they were taken from another hi-res trailer we would be getting in the near future. You know what? I was partially right. That is, in the fact that we have a new "trailer" to look at for the game. Only thing is, it is not a hi-res clip but an in-game clip. A clip that you can see below once I am done telling you about it. Read More…

Tropico 4 Announced
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 16th of August 2010 - 06:34 PM ]
On Friday, it was announced that Haemimont Games plans to build on their success in the strategy game genre with Tropico 4. This announcement is not a complete shock as its predecessor was well received by both critics and consumers alike. The series hits a fairly specific audience as you tackle being "El Presidente," a ruler of a small tropical island. Armed with the hopes of being a powerhouse nation, you decide how you will make this happen - whether that is politically, diplomatically, economically or militarily. The simulation-strategy genre has many different development houses that cater to a wide range of scenarios. Read More…
