E3 2011 Hands On: PS Vita
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 21st of June 2011 - 08:54 PM ]
Well we've waited and wondered at what Sony had in store for the NGP and at the Sony Conference most of the details were revealed. We now have the PS Vita coming to stores in the not too distant future to snag our money and keep us gaming when not at home. For those who don't know or have strong logic skills, this is the PSP2 that has been all the rumor for the last year. We were lucky enough to get our hands on a couple of PS Vita's and some of the software coming on or around launch time for the system. All of which showing off some of the new features and capabilities of the PS Vita. Read More…

Another Dungeon Crawler has entered our midst, but this time it's one that players are quite familiar with. Dungeon Siege III, Obsidian Entertainment's latest installment of the previous Gas Powered Games franchise, is out to bring back some of that old nostalgic dungeon crawling experience players love. Aggrocast Episode Eighty-Three: E3 2011 Special
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 20th of June 2011 - 04:37 PM ]
David, Corey and Brian are back at it to talk about this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo. First, they wrap up what they've been playing outside of the show floor - including Dungeon Siege III, Dungeons And Dragons: Daggerdale, Alice: The Madness Returns, Duke Nukem Forever, Final Fantasy III, 4 Elements and of course, Brian's update on how many hours he's put into Persona 4. Our Care/Don't Care segment goes commando with an all-E3 focus, which is also our main topic.  I will say that our talk went on a bit with the sheer number of topics that presented themselves from E3. E3 2011 Impressions: Wii U
by Brian Bentley [ Friday, 17th of June 2011 - 10:07 PM ]
Starting back in April, rumors began swirling about Nintendo announcing a new console. Finally confirmed by the Japanese giant, people were anxiously awaiting the “Wii HD” reveal at this year’s E3. Nintendo did not disappoint the many in attendance at the press conference and those around the world with the unveiling of the Wii U. While the name may not be revolutionary, many of the features of both the new console and its unique controller may have you clamoring for this next release. I’ll put a section at the bottom of the article for all the hardware specifics – mainly because you can read that on any boring site. Read More…

E3 Hands On: Dead Island
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 17th of June 2011 - 10:50 AM ]
If you've followed anything I've written regarding Dead Island on this site, you would know that this is one of the few titles I am extremely excited to play. So you can only imagine my excitement when I was let in on the (as I was originally told) appointment only demo. A demo that focused specifically on the multiplayer/co-op of the tragedy in paradise. What could be better? I'm done gilding the lily here, so let me just take you into the bulk of what I got to see as well as control in Dead Island. Read More…

E3 2011 Impressions: XCOM
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 16th of June 2011 - 06:13 PM ]
At last year’s E3, when I saw XCOM, I was loving the environments, the time period and the promise of strategic elements. What I was iffy on was the generic-feeling action game play. A year has passed and I walked into the 2K Games booth to see what progress 2K Marin has made on this re-imaging of the beloved franchise. This year the focus of the demonstration was the strategic aspects of combat in the field and the importance of decisions made through the course of the game. Everything is a factor – from choosing your mission, to who accompanies you on the mission, to how you tackle each scenario you encounter in the field. Read More…

E3 2011 Hands On: Twisted Metal
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 14th of June 2011 - 08:56 PM ]
So it has been a year since the new Twisted Metal was announced at E3 during the Sony press conference. It seems like it would be a good time to check in and see what the designers over at Eat Sleep Play have been doing since then. Yes there have been some fun new trailers and game play footage, but that doesn't give one a good feeling of how the game would handle. For that you need to place hands to controller. It was extremely fitting that the first location to get my godly hands on the game was in the arcade set up immediately after the Sony conference. Read More…

E3 2011 Impressions: Tomb Raider
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 14th of June 2011 - 04:11 PM ]
If there is one franchise that feels like it has been milked to death, it would be Tomb Raider. The true definition that sex sells in gaming. So it would be very little surprise that Eidos would look into remaking such a beloved franchise for more money. Only from what we got to see at E3, I would not put it in the normal "remake for money" category just yet. This new Tomb Raider looks like it is going to do for this franchise what Batman Begins did for the Batman film franchise. It is darker. Read More…

E3 2011 Impressions: Torchlight II
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 13th of June 2011 - 11:34 PM ]
When I stumbled upon Torchlight during 2009’s E3, I knew I had found something special. Of all the games I came away wowed by during that show, Torchlight was definitely one that stood out in my mind after the buzz wore off. Fast forward to 2011, as Runic Games attempts to make a repeat performance at E3 with Torchlight II. At first glance, you will feel a familiarity with Torchlight II. The art style hasn't changed dramatically, though they seemed to have spruced up some of the textures. Read More…

E3 2011 Impressions: BioShock Infinite
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 13th of June 2011 - 09:34 PM ]
Hidden deep in the back of the 2K Games booth in the South Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center, we were led into a room that looked like an old hunter's club room - Animal heads on the walls, old fashioned lamps lighting the room and filled wall to wall with plush leather couches. It was as close to an opening in reality to take a step into Columbia (where Bioshock Infinite takes place) as I could imagine without Elizabeth opening a tear and pulling us through. Before I get into the bulk of the game footage we were shown, which consisted mostly of sky rail combat, let me catch some of you up on the story that is the lead up as well as the background. This is for those just now finding interest in the game. Read More…

E3 2011 Impressions: Luigi's Mansion 2
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 13th of June 2011 - 03:37 PM ]
During the Nintendo E3 Press Conference, before the ooo’s and ahhh’s of the Wii-U unveiling and videos, there was the announcement of a sequel of the much maligned Luigi’s Mansion to be made for the Nintendo 3DS. While Luigi is often the forgotten, second fiddle, there have always been the defenders of the faith who hold true to the green overalls. With Luigi’s Mansion 2, Nintendo hopes to capture a new audience through the portable platform to formulate a new, bankable franchise. Let’s face it; the original Luigi’s Mansion on the Nintendo GameCube received a bad rep. Read More…

Dungeons and Dragons - Daggerdale Review
by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 10th of June 2011 - 09:14 PM ]
I've been waiting along time for a new Dungeons and Dragons game to hit store shelves. My wish was finally granted with Atari and Bedlam Games release of Daggerdale.  A D&D 4th edition title that boasted 4 player online play, hours of dungeons and a return to the Forgotten Realms and the world of Faerun in epic proportions.  Well, it looks like Bedlam and Atari really missed the mark on this one - by a longshot. We will begin our story with the challenges faced simply to acquire a copy of the game, I went to 4 different stores only to be told that it was only available on the Xbox Marketplace for download. A New SSX Debut At E3
by Corey Dockendorf [ Thursday, 9th of June 2011 - 03:03 PM ]
We haven't had an SSX title since 2007, so the announcement earlier this year that SSX was coming to PS3 and Xbox 360 was kind of a big deal. With there over-the-top tricks and incredible tracks (both snow and music), SSX is probably one of the highest-rated snowboarding games out there. Definitely a welcome back for both the genre and the franchise. Mountains, check. Snowboard, check. Read More…

Kingdom of Amalur E3 Gameplay Trailer
by Corey Dockendorf [ Thursday, 9th of June 2011 - 06:35 AM ]
With some of the biggest names in the realm of high fantasy, and judging by the latest E3 trailer, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is not going to disappoint. Magic, rebirth, hack n' slash combat, this trailer does it all and for the first time we get a little background on the storyline. It's a really great look at the extensive world created by R.A. Salvatore and the team at 38 Studios. Read More…

Ruin On The PS Vita
by Corey Dockendorf [ Thursday, 9th of June 2011 - 02:14 AM ]
Multiple character classes, action based role playing, advancement and loot, Torchlight&helip;I mean Ruin is coming out on the latest announced platform, the PS Vita. It honestly looks like Torchlight/Diablo, but considering it's on the PS Vita I'm okay with that. This is the style of game the mobile platform was intended. Developers Idol Minds are the geniuses behind this gem, who also brought you Pain The Game where you could throw Andy Dick through pretty much anything but a solid building (and then some). This game play trailer brought to you by G4TV. Read More…
