The Sights Of Gears Of War 3
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 25th of May 2010 - 08:38 PM ]
For a game that is still just slightly under a year out, by the gods it is looking good. But that was to be expected for Gears Of War 3 was it not? I mean it is using a very powerful gaming engine to run it. It just comes down to the artist and compression teams to make it run and look good on the XBox now. Which I am sure there will be no problem at that at all. Below you will see some renders of the characters of Gears Of War 3. Read More...

Mass Effect The Movie
by Binh Nguyen [ Tuesday, 25th of May 2010 - 03:23 PM ]
Well this news came sooner than I could ever realized. According to G4tv.com, Legendary Pictures just picked up the rights to make a feature film based on Mass Effect. As we speak they are in discussions with the screen writers from I Am Legend and Thor to produce the screenplay. Now you may be wondering who will be producing the film? You will be happy to know that BioWare's co-founder and VP, Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk, along with Mass Effect executive producer, Casey Hudson, will serve as executive producers for the film. Joining in on the fun will be Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and Ari Arad. Read More...

Blizzard has learned from the past Blizzcon's the overwhelming response from the player community, and will be selling tickets in batches, to give everyone an opportunity to get in on the action. For those that remember the Failoc-alypse from last year, hopefully Blizzard will be better prepared this year. Lessons Learned: Record of Agarest War
by Michael Camacho [ Monday, 17th of May 2010 - 02:34 PM ]
Have you ever been excited for a game's release, and somehow found a way to ruin the game experience due to your own mistake? I guess in my case, it's more stupidity than a mistake. What I am about to recount is how I went from being in Heaven to dragging myself through Hell in a matter of 10 days. This is my story on how my attempt to review Record of Agarest War went sour and the lessons I learned. As a gamer that is very keen on the import scene, I had heard of Record of Agarest War when it was first released in Japan in late 2007. I was intrigued by the reported dating aspects, the Soul Breeding the game touted and being able to play through story through multiple generations. Read More...

Milking Kratos The Dairy Bastard
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 11th of May 2010 - 08:29 PM ]
There is no dispute that God of War is one of the top grossing games that is exclusive to the Sony PlayStation. Just as there is no dispute that I am one of the world's largest fans of the franchise. With large franchises, of course, there is always going to be merchandising and off-shoots to keep the power house rolling. God of War is not being any different with PSP and mobile game offshoots, toys, clothes and even an awesome new comic book. But when is there going to be enough? Read More...

The Ghost Of Sparta Returns To The PSP
by Binh Nguyen [ Tuesday, 4th of May 2010 - 08:38 PM ]
With the success of God of War III, Sony has just announced that our favorite Spartan will be making his return to the Sony PSP and PSPgo in God of War: Ghost of Sparta. Why are they making another God of War game you may ask? Probably going to kill more Greek Gods. God of War: Chains of Olympus is still the highest rated PSP title of all-time according to Metacritic.com. So what is in store for us this time around. Read More...

Mechwarrior 4: Finally Released For Free As Promised
by Brian Goodman [ Tuesday, 4th of May 2010 - 03:17 PM ]
Well there's not much else to report here except go here to get your hands on one of the best PC-exclusive action titles ever released. Nothing streamlined or dumbed down for the console, just pure 30 button action at its best. There have been some reports of server issues, but they seem to have been resolved. I personally think this is an awesome move that will have a short term loss, long term gain for Microsoft (who has finally released one of my favorite IP's), as well as Smith and Tinker - a new developer who has taken the reins for Mechwarrior 5. There are no profits to be found by doing this, but what they will get is the love and respect of the huge Mechwarrior fanbase. Read More...

Brian G Asks: WTF is up with DLC?
by Brian Goodman [ Monday, 26th of April 2010 - 04:20 PM ]
It's an exciting time to be a gamer because there is definitely a lot of pivotal stuff going on in our industry right now. Today I want to go on about a reasonably new development of an old concept. Expansion packs have been around since the mid 90's in the PC world. Back when the PC dinosaurs ruled the video game landscape (and just about any game could be played on any computer without a video card that costs more than a PS3), if there was a successful game, a half a year or so later we would see an expansion pack. People who enjoyed a game could purchase more content for around $20 to $30-ish. Don't quote me on this, but the first expansion in my memory was the level add on pack for Doom II released in 1995 called "Doom II Master Levels. Read More...

Alan Wake Developer 'Disappointed' By The Media
by Brian Goodman [ Monday, 19th of April 2010 - 09:15 PM ]
The managing director of Remedy Games, Matias Myllyrine has reportedly tweeted today that he is disappointed that gameplay footage of Alan Wake has been leaked. To quote, "Game journalism is not about playing a game in ten minute segments and posting random quality videos on the net. Disappointed." Okay here is why he's full of it and also why Alan Wake will suck. You may or may not have read yesterday my feelings about the necessity of a delicate balance between business and art in games. The reality is that video games are a product. Read More...

Brian G's First Ever Ramblings
by Brian Goodman [ Sunday, 18th of April 2010 - 03:03 PM ]
So first off I'm Brian and new to Aggrogamer.com (and also Pwned.com My user name is GooseyB please friend me so I'm not too lonely!). Aside from video game blogging I also play in this band. You may or may not have noticed my first few articles posted this week. I am a video game news junkie and very opinionated. I may like studying the industry and culture surrounding video games almost as much as I like settling in with a new nerdy PC strategy title and a bottle of whiskey (almost). I do enjoy a lot of mainstream titles and also spend plenty of time on my XBox 360. Read More...

Infinity Ward Keeps Melting Down
by Brian Goodman [ Friday, 16th of April 2010 - 05:17 PM ]
You can not follow game industry news and not have noticed the countless reports of the drama currently going on between publishing giant Activision and successful Call Of Duty developer Infinity Ward. Even legitimate news sources have covered the huge lawsuit frenzy that has been going on. Today, industry analysts have suggested that as many as 20 more Infinity Ward Employees are projected to no longer be employed by the company in a month's time (source Gamespot). Even though strong sales of the Modern Warfare 2 map pack DLC suggest a short term financial positive for Activision, the stock has continued to go down. I may not be a business tycoon or an expert economist, but I do know this Activision. Read More...

Review: Mega Man 10
by 345 [ Thursday, 15th of April 2010 - 03:08 PM ]
Mega Man 10 (available on XBLA, WiiWare, and PSN for 800 MS Pts/1000 Wii Pts/$10, respectively) is an incredibly fun and enjoyable entry in the classic Mega Man series. A follow-up to 2008's Mega Man 9 in more ways than just a new number, this game takes a lot of the feedback and criticism the latter had to craft one of the best sidescrolling experiences in years. While there isn't a whole lot Capcom and Inti Creates actually changed in the bigger scheme of things, Mega Man 10 features a lot of new tweaks and balance adjustments that make it far less threatening than its predecessor and more entertaining in the long run. While there are some tough areas in the game, overall I wouldn't call it difficult at all, and perhaps it is one of the most fair games in the series. Read More...

Gearing Up For Gears Of War 3
by Binh Nguyen [ Tuesday, 13th of April 2010 - 03:33 PM ]
If you somehow missed Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night, then you missed one of the hottest trailers to grace your television screen. It is no secret what Cliff Bleszinski and the rest of the crew over at Epic Games are working on with the pre-mature announcement over on XBL (way to go Microsoft to blow that news). Well it was time to showcase to the world, or the few that could actually stayed up to watch Jimmy Fallon, the new trailer for Gears of War 3. “When we released Gears of War more than five years ago, we set out to tell the world an unforgettable story of bravery and sacrifice in the face of insurmountable odds, and a year from now, players will get the chance to experience the final chapter in the story of Marcus Fenix and his companions in Delta Squad,” said Cliff Bleszinski, Design Director of Epic Games.
