Review: Serious Sam Double D XXL
by Matt Waitt [ Friday, 22nd of February 2013 - 06:15 PM ]
Serious Sam Double D XXL is one hell of a mouthful, especially for a title of a game. But don't let the ridiculously long title discourage you from enjoying this great game. Featuring a Gunstacking ability, some awesome platforming, 2D side-scrolling action, and the comedy/humor we all know and love from the Serious Sam franchise. So let's talk about what I enjoyed about Serious Sam Double D XXL. God damn it I need to find a shorter name for that game SSDDXXL? Read More...

Our Favorite Boss Fights Ever - Part 1
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 19th of February 2013 - 08:10 PM ]
This is a collective list from the staff and readers on who, or what, their favorite boss battle in a video game is and why. It doesn't matter what genre or what boss, all that matters is if it's your favorite or not. It can be the boss that made you want to break your controller but you found yourself screaming "hallelujah" when you beat them. The boss that made your jaw drop when they hit "Phase II" or transformed into their true form. Hell, it can be the boss that just holds a special place in your heart. Read More...

by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 6th of November 2012 - 06:59 PM ]
I'm terribly sorry that this review is finally seeing the light of day. It's just I have been getting my teeth kicked in trying to beat Serious Sam 3: BFE. Where do I start with Serious Sam 3? There is so much to talk about and only so much of your patience so I’m going to dive right in to the goods. This is what a First Person Shooter should be. An insane amount of enemies and destruction? Read More...

Incoming Flame War From Devolver Digital
by Matt Waitt [ Monday, 29th of October 2012 - 11:01 PM ]
All this week Devolver Digital is bringing the flame wars ablaze with their "Warfighter-Fighter" campaign. A 50% smear campaign and 50% promotional campaign. So starting... Now all that you have to do to be entered for a chance to win a free copy of Serious Sam 3: BFE, is to tweet a message about the stagnant modern military FPS genre with the hashtag #SeriousSam3XBLA or for those of you who don't use twitter there is also the Serious Sam fan page where you just have to post on their wall doing the same. Here is the official post from Devolver Digital: "During this busy season of video game releases the team at Devolver Digital realize that not every game will live up to expectations. One such game has been Medal Of Honor: Warfighter - yet another military shooter where cover is king and most folks spend their time peeking out from behind a wall or strategically place concrete barrier. Serious Sam 3 Finally Coming To XBLA
by Matt Waitt [ Monday, 14th of May 2012 - 09:13 PM ]
The guys over at Croteam have been working furiously since the original launch of Serious Sam 3: BFE to get their baby on consoles. We're looking at (maybe) a September / October release for XBLA and an even longer wait for PSN. "Regarding Xbox 360 SS3, it is in development, so we are on it since PC was released... It does require time to do all kinds of optimization's, first to fit all in memory and to get decent frame rate, as 360 is rather old hardware now (512MB RAM, lower range graphics card etc). Please be patient for around 4 more months for 360, we are doing our best to finish it in that time frame. Read More...

The Best DRM I've Ever Seen
by Matt Waitt [ Wednesday, 7th of December 2011 - 10:26 PM ]
In the world of Digital Rights Management (DRM) there have been a lot of cruel and unusual punishments for those who dare pirate video games; even punishment for paying customers because of some random glitch or what not. So in my travels around the internet I've stumbled upon what could be the greatest DRM scheme ever: An Immortal, Insanely fast pink scorpion. That's right. For those who pirate Croteam's Serious Sam 3: BFE, they will find themselves, from the opening of the game, fighting off an immortal pink scorpion that does not stop attacking until you die. Trailer Park 11/22/11
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 22nd of November 2011 - 05:37 PM ]
Since last week's installment of Trailer Park was non-existent, I believe you guys are overdue for a new set of trailers. First up we have a new trailer for EA's SSX coming out on February 14th, 2012. The trailer shows off a lot of game play footage that looks just as insane and hilarious as previous installments, Doing the "Worm" on a snowboard and twirling around like a helicopter are just a couple of the nut job tricks showcased in the trailer. If you plan on pre-ordering SSX then I have some great news for you - pre-order bonuses! If you pre-order from Origin you will get Elise's "elite" snowboard along with a "bonus" boost. Read More...

Trailer Park (11/1/11)
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 1st of November 2011 - 10:39 PM ]
Alright it's time for the next installment to "Trailer Park". This time I have a few new trailers lined up for you guys. I hope you all enjoy. Our first trailer today is a new "grind house style" trailer for Grasshopper Manufacture's new game: Lollipop Chainsaw. The trailer features the cliché grind house voice over guy and a scantily clad cheerleader named "Juliet Starling" who just happens to be the main character. Lollipop Chainsaw follows Juliet and her family as they fight off hordes of mindless zombies in her high school. The horde of zombies are controlled by a group of "rock and roll" zombies. Serious Sam 3 Hypefest
by Matt Waitt [ Wednesday, 14th of September 2011 - 04:05 PM ]
Well, Serious Sam 3: BFE comes out in about a month and I feel it is my duty as a gamer to spread a little hype about one of my favorite game franchises. Serious Sam 3 takes place before the first Serious Sam game, dropping you in the story right as Mental's unending legion of aliens attack Earth. Croteam, the guys behind the franchise never tried to do something they didn't think fit the "serious" formula: Run and Gun. Their slogan for the game sums up the entire Serious Sam franchise; "No Cover. All Man. Read More...

by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 1st of March 2011 - 11:02 PM ]
Hey Serious Sam fans! It looks like your wait is over for the third installment of the game. Serious Sam 3 has just been announced with a few screen shots of the game mixed in with the announcement. But who really cares about screen shots on their favorite game franchise that has only been in development for the last six or so years. Am I right? We want to get into the nitty gritty details and not how the game is going to look when you get it home. Read More...

Review: Splinter Cell Conviction
by Kevin [ Tuesday, 27th of April 2010 - 03:22 PM ]
I've never tried to hide the fact that I was not the biggest Splinter Cell fan. The exploits of one Mr. Fisher never struck me as the most engaging, no matter how polished the series might have been. There was nothing about the character that made me want to be a part of the world, so imagine my surprise when I discovered that what made me want to explore the game’s mythology was the dehumanization of Sam Fisher. I think the cover definitely serves as a metaphor for the changing of style and approach with this title. Fisher has lost his daughter and along with her, he’s lost his fragile grip on the world around him. Read More...

See Why Sam Fisher Is Back In Splinter Cell Conviction
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 19th of February 2010 - 12:20 PM ]
Seeing how Ubisoft has built Sam Fisher's new character model, it looks as if he has gone the Danny Glover way of things and finally said, "I'm too old for this shit."  So why would he hop back into action and star in the new Splinter Cell? Watch the story trailer below for those reasons. They are damn good reasons too. Two things before you go and jump into this video though. Read More...

Games to Watch: Way of the Samurai 3
by Kevin [ Friday, 7th of August 2009 - 07:57 PM ]
The original Way of the Samurai title was released on the Playstation 2 back in 2002. It was set in 19th Century Japan, where you would take on the role of a ronin who wanders into a remote village and becomes involved in a conflict between rival clans. One of the best features about this game was the branching storylines that offered some very solid replay value while at the same time offering enough in the way of varying weapons and side content to really constitute different gameplay experiences. Although the story in the first game follows one overall framing narrative, the actual events that the you would engage in really depend on the decisions you make. Some decisions, while seeming small, could affect who lived and died at the end of the story. Read More...
