Doesn't it bug you in games when non-supernatural heroes or villains can fall from hundreds of feet and survive without rhyme or reason? Or for that matter, falling 20 feet almost kills them out right. It is a mix between realism and game play that designers have to take into account. Do you forgo realism in a major way for game play sake or do you try to fake it? Mix in the ability to portal hundreds of feet into the air, sometimes on accident, and now you have a real issue. So here we go with the third "episode" of game play trailers for Battlefield 3. This time it would seem a basic "disarm a bomb" task goes a little awry and turns into an all out shoot and destroy everything mission. Who would have thought that following a wire into an enemy "hideout" would turn into such madness and violence? I do have to say that out of all of these clips, this one impresses me the most with visuals. Here we go again. It's time to try and end this conflict between the I.S.A. and the Helghast once and for all. Picking up right after the events of Killzone 2, we are thrust right back into the mix of it in Killzone 3. All to meet the end of saving Earth from the new tech and tactics of the Helghast who are still hell-bent on doing just that. Outside of being a continuation, Killzone 3 is also one of the titles that Sony seems to be relying on to show off their tech and hardware capabilities. Man, if the title of these shorts for Battlefield 3 had not been set to Fault Line before the natural disaster in Japan I would say, "Way to piggy back off the suffering of others EA." So we are either going to get a look at the next billion dollar game from Activision or one of the best pranks run on fans of the Modern Warfare franchise. A new site, findmakarov.com, has begun to be passed around the net. It doesn't feature anything stating Modern Warfare 3 on it but it does have a countdown with the franchise know font face. By Matt Waitt Over the past couple weeks Fox News has blasted Bulletstorm as being "the worst video game in the world" as well as their typical fear mongering, fact-less accusations and other assorted nonsense that they tend to discharge out of their empty skulls. A blog on Foxnews.com kicks some dirt on Epic Games and People Can Fly with some fact absent claims such as "sexual situations and acts in video games – highlighted so well in Bulletstorm – have led to real-world sexual violence." For a friendly reminder this statement is a joke. So here is further proof that an FPS can have a good story mixed in without the need for multi-player being the selling point. What do you do after you announce that your latest game has gone over the $1 Billion dollar worldwide sales mark? You announce some DLC to keep that game going strong. Activision announced today its first DLC map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops entitled First Strike. The new DLC Map pack is slated for February 1, 2011 to be released on XBox Live. “We’re committed to supporting Call of Duty: Black Ops fans with continuous updates to the game and exciting new content that will keep our community engaged,” said Treyarch Studio Head, Mark Lamia. The map pack will include four new maps: Kowloon - Kowloon city in china, except this time on rooftops Berlin Wall - Located in Berlin at the infamous Checkpoint Charlie Discovery - an Antarctic research station Stadium - takes place at a hockey rink in the US A new Zombie map called "Ascension" will also be included in the map pack, but no details on that one yet. No I'm not saying that Bulletstorm is going to be the stop gap in the need for Gears Of War 3. It will however score you a slot in the GoW3 beta. Well at least if you preorder the "Epic Edition" of Bulletstorm that is coming to the XBox 360. There is no price difference for the "Epic Edition" from any standard price for a new title ($59.99) but there are a few extras outside of the Gears beta. I am sure we have seen the multitude of videos and screen shots of Portal 2 in the last few weeks. Yesterday Valve released the extended trailer for the co-op mode of Portal 2. Something that was shown at PAX Prime this past week at Seattle. It is worth a watch as it showcases that teamwork that is the only way to get pass certain levels. I'm not sure if they will include the high-five feature but it would be funny if you were able to self high-five yourself.
