Mark Wahlberg has never played Max Payne
by Sam [ Wednesday, 6th of August 2008 - 05:57 AM ]
Mark Wahlberg, the guy playing Max Payne in the up coming movie has said in a recent interview that he has never actually played Max Payne before.     "I got more responsibility now than I've ever had with the kids and everything else. I don't want to be spending 14 hours on the videogame and then eight hours on the set. It's not going to work out."   I think that if you're going to be playing a character you should at least play the game first to get a feel for the character. Read More...

Summon Up The Concepts
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 5th of August 2008 - 07:54 PM ]
Final Fantasy XIII Exhibition Of Original Drawings So on top of announcing the fact that there is going to be a demo for the game come this March, another bit that was featured at the DKΣ3713 event was some of the concept work for the new FF game. In particular, three of the summons and a few locations in the game. Not the best resolution that was available, but it is something for all of us fanboys/girls to drool over while we wait for the demo and release of the game. Here are some of the concepts for Ifrit, Sheva and Carbunkle. Read More...

Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad Hacking Sexily Onto 360
by Michael Camacho [ Monday, 4th of August 2008 - 11:25 PM ]
As a fan of Japanese import titles, it's was a big surprise to find out one of my favorite budget title series was headed to the Xbox 360.  D3Publisher (Dark Sector) has announced Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad for the 360 without an official release date. You will take controls of the sexy sword swigning sisters Aya and Saki, as you take on zombie hordes in order to save the world.  The game title is not misleading in the least, as you will be in control of Aya who has basically a bikini, hat and boots on as she fights, while her sister Saki is in a Japanese schoolgirl uniform. There will be multiple game modes to let you immerse yourself in the experience of Onechanbara, to include Story, Free Play, Survival, Quest and more. Read More...

by David 'Hades' Becker [ Saturday, 2nd of August 2008 - 06:13 PM ]
Final Fantasy XIII Demo Yes, you read the above title right. There will be a demo for Square-Enix's new Final Fantasy out early next year. How early? Well it looks like March 9th will be the magical date. At least this is what was announced at a private event at DKΣ3713. On top of all that, there will be new footage for the other games coming out in the series as well. I'm talking FFXIII Versus and FXIII Agito here. There are a few catches though... Read More...

by Andy [ Saturday, 2nd of August 2008 - 07:04 AM ]
Due to be released in 2009, Infinity Ward will do another round in the Call of Duty franchise. What does this mean? This means that COD6 will be amazing in all its glory, so at least if WaW sucks, you can at least look forward to the new installment. Bobby Kotick, CEO, was the one who confirmed that "an all-new Call of Duty" will be released "utilizing our leapfrog studio strategy."So sit back and watch the news of COD6 come rolling onto the internet in the upcoming months. What do you think this new COD title will be? Read More...

VIDEO GAMES LIVE ALBUM DEBUTS AT #10 ON THE BILLBOARD CHARTS! So I was going to write another review on the Comic Con Video Games Live show, but I saw this and thought this was a better way to say how cool it was. I will point out that it is a different show depending on where you see it, the show in San Diego had fireworks and a different game they played on stage. Not to mention the Cos-Play of the people adding to the whole thing. Pics are below. Read More...

Is Activision Blizzard canning games?
by Nikole [ Tuesday, 29th of July 2008 - 08:35 PM ]
The newly formed duo of Activision Blizzard has presented there schedule of releases. While many titles were mentioned, several highly publicized games received none whatsoever. Terminal Reality, 50 Cent: Blood in the Sand and most notably: Ghostbusters, were all absent from the list. The lack of these titles, as well as massive "realignments" with the staff of High Moon Studio and Radical Entertainment, is leading many to wonder if some titles and studios are being dropped because of the merger. It is already known that Massive Entertainment and Swordfish Studios are being considered for sale or closure at this time. The situation was made even more grim when the company released information stating several titles would be dropped. Read More...

Gears of War 2: Linked Achievements
by Nikole [ Monday, 28th of July 2008 - 10:03 PM ]
In Gears of War 2 news, the people of Epic seem to really understand their audience. Epic loves us for exactly what we are, a bunch of achievement whores. Now while some people may be above spending time going through games solely to raise their gamer score, most of us are not. Epic has created a whole new type of achievement system, called "linked" achievements. Linked Achievements occur when someone obtains an achievement in the first game(Gears of War), this then unlocks new content in the second game(Gears of War 2). Some examples of this are:- Complete Act One in Gears Of War, unlock a playable Anthony Carmine in Gears of War 2- Find 10 COG tags in Gears Of War, unlock Minh Young Kim in Gears of War 2- Kill Raam in Gears Of War, unlock a playable Raam in Gears of War 2According to xboxfocus. Set Phasers To MMO
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 28th of July 2008 - 08:59 PM ]
Star Trek Online So I frequent the Cryptic Studios stuff now and again, forums and booths at conventions. Hell, on Saturday, I even went to their VIP party for City of Heroes players and Devs. Please don't ask how it was. But this was something that kind of caught me off guard. In fact, I didn't know it was under their belt until today when they turned on their interwebs for the game sit and posted screen shots. The game? Well the title said it, Star Trek Online. They Are Arising
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 28th of July 2008 - 08:19 PM ]
Rise Of The Argonauts First let me thank Mythicgriffon for hooking up this video as well as being there when we did our own little interview with this same guy. He was very knowledgeable about a lot of things and nice enough to entertain us for about an hour or so. No more gilding the lilly though. I brought this up a while back when I first heard about this game from Codemasters. It was so cool to see another of the few games out there that revolve around Greek religion and stories. Warhammer Online Beginning to Look a Bit Grim
by Robert [ Sunday, 27th of July 2008 - 05:50 PM ]
The beta for Warhammer Online is beginning to look a little grim; with major content cutbacks that will affect the release I'm sure. This month Warhammer online took out FOUR major cities and FOUR classes... that is BIG. Warhammer Online is the upcoming major competitor for the reigning champion of MMO's, World of Warcraft and with a cut back this big it is either a really really good thing or a really really bad thing. With Age of Conan slowly (but trust me it's not at all yet) falling off a bit, Warhammer Online really needs to step it up and take advantage. The content cuts may be a good thing; maybe the developers realized they need to focus their manpower on a smaller amount of content, but at the same time that could be a bad sign... Read More...

Guilty Gear 2: Overture
by Taylor Rose [ Wednesday, 23rd of July 2008 - 03:41 AM ]
Guilty Gear has always been one of my favorite series of fighter games because it greatly impairs our oh-so-beloved button mashers from pwning ass. Take Soul Calibur II for instance: when playing as Rafael, by repeatedly pushing one button, Rafael will rapidly flail his sabre, often leaving the other player no chance to retaliate. The control structure in Guilty Gear is so brilliant because rapidly pushing the punch or kick button won't get you very far: special combos are based mainly on the combination of buttons and quarter or half turns with the joystick or directional pad. It has so far proven to be a very difficult game to master - but isn't that what one looks for? Read More...
