According to the press release, Dungeon Siege 3 will have Square Enix (Final Fantasy) on board as Editor, and Obsidian Entertainment (Neverwinter Nights 2, Knights Of The Old Republic) as the Developer, with Gas Powered Games (Dungeon Siege 1/2, Supreme Commander 1/2) supervising the whole process.
So let's recap. Probably one of the best dungeon crawlers is being re-done in HD format across multiple platforms by some very powerful companies in the gaming industry. Did you hear that? That was my mind being blown. Square Enix and Gas Powered games have been working together since 2008 with Supreme Commander II being one of their first ventures together, so it's good to see Square Enix at it again, strengthening their presence in the North American market.
The game will optimize all the platforms online capabilities by providing players a multiplayer co-op with up to four players. A feature I'm sure every dungeon crawler fan can appreciate an any platform. No news yet if it will be cross platform compatible or not.

I'm glad their not just sticking to one platform this time. This obviously will open things up a bit and give more player interaction along with a broader market to identify with the franchise.
Hopefully we will hear more about the upcoming title at E3. No release date has been announced yet. Looks like I'm gonna have to break out my Combat Mage again.
