Why So Serious?
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 23rd of October 2012 - 10:27 PM ]
I think the Joker summed up the past few years of video games quite well, with his famous saying "Why So Serious!?" It seems that today's industry has dropped the light-hearted and comical games of yester-years for a more gritty, hardcore, and serious tone. While I'm not saying these "serious" games are bad, I am saying that a break from them would be much appreciated. Video games are not all about world wars, political sabotaging, or saving the world from a cliché ultimate evil. We came from a very humble beginning, a beginning of stomping on weird brown monsters, using rainbows to squash bugs, and controlling fat pink things that suck up anything in their path. Read More...

by Fred Buell [ Wednesday, 3rd of October 2012 - 04:58 PM ]
Double Dragon: Neon is as the developers say; "A love letter to the 80s" and it is that and so much more. Double Dragon: Neon brings us the return of the Lee brothers; Billy and Jimmy and their quest to save Marian, the staple of 80s games, "the kidnapped maiden". This time she has been kidnapped by a new villain, Skullmageddon. Skullmageddon is a giant skeleton armored in... Well a suit made from bones. Read More...

by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 20th of September 2012 - 04:40 PM ]
I am sure we all remember back when Dead Island was first announced and the trailer that came with it. I am sure you do. It had people welling up with tears over a fictional family that was on the island of Banoi when the outbreak happened. Seems that Dead Island: Riptide is taking its turn at trying to hit you in the gut just like before. Below you can see the new CGI trailer for Riptide. While not an announcement trailer, as it has been announced already, it is the first promotional video showcasing the horrors that may lay in wait for us in the game. Read More...

Will The Wii U Be Worth It?
by Greg Tatterfield [ Tuesday, 4th of September 2012 - 05:16 PM ]
In 2006 Nintendo released the Wii which was the successor to the GameCube. The Wii had huge success in both China and North America. The Wii quickly outsold the PS3 and the XBox 360 at its low price point of $249.99 at launch. After 6 years Nintendo is planning to release their new console the Wii U sometime this year. The Wii U marks the only next generation console releasing this year. Being the first console out of the starting gate the question is will it be worth it the price? Read More...

by Matt Waitt [ Thursday, 23rd of August 2012 - 09:33 PM ]
So in my travels of the internet I found this cool little report by the ESA (Entertainment Software Association) that has a bunch of really cool facts about video games and those of us who play them. So here are some bullet points for the 2012 report: The average U.S. household owns at least one dedicated game console, PC or Smartphone. 49% of U.S households own a dedicated game console, and those that do, own an average of two. While you're listening, don't miss out on Whatcha Been Playing, the Community Spotlight and another 5-question Care / Don't Care. Read More...

Review: Darksiders II
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 14th of August 2012 - 05:02 PM ]
It has finally come. A game that I and others here have been waiting for since we finished Darksiders and were left with a bit of a cliff hanging ending. Darksiders II is here and featuring a new horseman of the apocalypse as well as, from what has been said, a whole load of game features that were left on the cutting room floor in the first title. I got a chance to play it, so let me break it down so you can get a feel before you buy. The Story The story picks up obviously after the end of Darksiders. Read More...

The Phoenix Rises
by Jonathan Dean [ Monday, 6th of August 2012 - 04:49 PM ]
Hello one and all! My name is Jonathan Dean, and I’m thrilled to be one of the newest members of the writing team here at Aggrogamer.com. Let’s see, what is there to know about me? I've been playing games mostly since high school, and as the title suggests, my gamer tag for the Xbox 360 is PhoenixFusion1. I personally prefer games with heavy story and substance, probably due in fact to being a fiction writer and movie buff. I wasn't introduced to the gaming world until my junior high school years. The big news at E3 for Resident Evil 6 was that you were going to have a four play co-op mode in the game. You Better Beat Darksiders Before Darksiders II Launches
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 2nd of August 2012 - 09:13 PM ]
So the good news just keeps rolling in for Darksiders II. This time it revolves around those who have been fans since the first game. That is if you've played the first game then you will have access to two items from about the beginning of the new game. So that should be pretty much everyone who is picking up Darksiders II. I mean why would you play the sequel without playing the original? Anyways, these items are linked to your Achievements or Trophies for Darksiders so don't worry if you don't have that save file still either. Read More...

The Disappearance Of Single Player
by Greg Tatterfield [ Wednesday, 1st of August 2012 - 09:49 PM ]
Remember the time when you placed a new game in your game console and you could expect an epic and memorable single player experience? I am among those gamers who remember having that full-blown experience with every new game that graced my console. As an old school gamer that owned all the major systems since the 90s I see a disturbing trend that could spell trouble for fans of single player games. The problem is that single player seems to be becoming extinct. It’s no secret that online multiplayer has became exceptionally popular among the current generation of gamers. Read More...
