Surprisingly, there are many out there who are not aware of the Tekken live action film. Not surprisingly, I would consider those people fairly lucky. What's really interesting is that the movie supposedly dropped in the US, LAST NOVEMBER. Does anyone remember this? As CES 2010 is now under way, so are the many news and notes that are coming out of the convention. The first event that Brian and I went to was the nVidia Press Conference. As we went to sit down we were given 3D glasses for a part of the conference. As the wait finally ended and the music started to kick into high gear, so did the montage that nVidia put together. The montage began with video games and movies but wasn't in 3D yet. After the montage was over, the President of nVidia, Jen-Hsun Huang came out and talked about not only the evolution of desktop PC (personal computers) but also the evolution of portable PC in general. Well, the beta test application site for Final Fantasy XIV has opened up, and while the beta may only be for the PC, it is a great chance for those interested to poke around in what could be a fantastic MMO experience. A lot of people were disappointed by the recent Video Game Awards held on Spike TV, and in most cases the disappointment is very much deserved. Although the award ceremony was filled with professionals and had some fantastic exclusives to premier, it still comes off as very much forced and not at all exciting. So some news about Natal is making the rumor rounds. According to a member of a “secret tour of a Microsoft lab”, the controller-free movement only control system will come out November of 2010, which Microsoft had previously hinted at and then claimed bollocks. Microsoft hopes to have 5 million units available for purchase worldwide at the time of launch, some being sold with a 360, and some being sold on their own. The price would range anywhere from £30 to £50 (what the price would be in USD is anybody's guess at this point) and would have a fairly robust 14 launch games. Being a lowly space marine seems like the worst thing to be in Aliens Vs. Predator. Just by watching the trailer down below, you get a great sense that most people will only play the Human portion if they are in for a challenge or an Achievement/Trophy whore. I mean come on, the human they show through out the clip is scared poopless the entire clip. To the point where it begs the question right? Nier,or Nier Gestalt as it goes by these days, is one of those titles that I really feel could go either way. It could be a really compelling experience with a narrative that draws you in with some really deep action elements, or it could be a largely forgettable title with little to allow it to stand out among other similar entries in the genre. The design of the game is decidedly Square Enix and if we have learned anything from their protagonists, there will be a rich melencholy right below the surface of the gruff devil may care attitude.
