There were few games I was looking forward to this year more than Alpha Protocol. With every new video and image released I thought the customization, character interaction and apparent polish on the title would really push it to the top of my "gotta play" list. I felt like Obsidian Entertainment wouldn't disappoint, with their history of working on Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II and Neverwinter Nights 2. The Gamecenter: Wal-Mart's Answer to Amazon?

Wal-Mart, one of the reigning kings of discount department stores, is entering the on-line space occupied by places like Amazon. Gamecenter is "a one-shop stop for all the greatest news and previews and exclusives." Currently, the deals I see on the site involve providing gift-eCards for certain purchases, a "buy 2, get 1 free" for XBox 360 Platinum Hits, and if you pre-order three games you'll get a $50 gift card. SEGA Embraces DRM For Alpha Protocol

SEGA, according to Eurogamer, has reported its intent to make use of the Uniloc DRM for its PC release of Alpha Protocol, despite past issues regarding the software. SEGA will be joining the growing group of publishers who have begun using intrusive authentication software in the name of protecting their PC releases. Mafia originally came out on PC in 2002, then later on the orginial XBox, and then PlayStation 2 in 2004. Several years later 2K is releasing the second installment of the Mafia series with Mafia 2. 38 Studios Finds A Publisher With EA

38 Studio's just announced that it has signed an agreement with Electronic Arts to publish their first title, which is not their MMO. 38 Studios, LLC is the enterprise of Curt Schilling (World Series MVP) and the creative minds of R.A. Salvatore (of Drizzt fame) and Todd McFarlane (Spawn anyone?) . 38 Studios has been working on an epic fantasy title code named 'Project Mercury', under the watchful eye of Ken Rolston, known best for being the lead designer of Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Skepticism reigned as I sat down to play Monster Hunter Tri, but it began to dispel as I took the new Wii Classic Controller Pro in my hands and looked across the table at Binh, who was joining me for some co-operative hunting on another Wii. Capcom is breaking ground bringing the immensely popular Monster Hunter series to the Nintendo Wii along with this brand new controller. Though the franchise is huge in Japan, but not nearly as well known here in Europe and North America, Capcom looks to indoctrinate a new audience.
