BioShock Infinite Has A Release Date
by Matt Waitt [ Friday, 2nd of March 2012 - 11:12 PM ]
The guys over at Irrational Games have just put up a write up on their website that quite simply says "BioShock Infinite Release Date Announced." Excuse me while I go squeal like a little school girl at a Justin Beiber concert. Ladies and gentlemen it gives me great honor to announce to you guys that the release date of BioShock Infinite is October 16th, 2012 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Mark your calendars, quit your jobs, and put your social lives on hold. Ken Levine said that "After BioShock, we had a vision for a follow up that dwarfed the original in scope and ambition…BioShock Infinite has been our sole focus for the last four years, and we can't wait for fans to get their hands on it. New Borderlands 2 Trailer Brings The 'WubWub'
by Matt Waitt [ Monday, 27th of February 2012 - 05:38 PM ]
The guys over at Gearbox Software have released a new trailer for their upcoming sequel to their smash hit Borderlands simply titled Borderlands 2. I loved playing Borderlands, the questlines; the stories and the loot were all hilariously amazing. Not to mention it has one of my favorite zombie stories ever, Zombie Island of Dr. Ned DLC which is just how a zombie story should be. The new trailer features a lot of "Wub Wub" dubstep garbage, but it can be easily muted via the volume bar on your player. Read More...

Aggrocast Episode Ninety Four: DLC Evolution and Expectations
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 22nd of February 2012 - 11:14 PM ]
The Aggrocast returns to its roots with the typical format. Matt, Corey and Brian first talk up what they've been playing - including Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, Tiny Tower, Rock Band 3 and Final Fantasy XIII-2. Care / Don't Care this week moves to a shorter four-question format, tackling some recent news from the world of gaming. The segment ends with an important discussion about the situation revolving around Jennifer Hepler (from Bioware). Our main topic focuses on downloadable content (DLC) - where it originated, how it has evolved and how our expectations have changed over the recent past. Read More...

Here's Why You Should Get The Darkness II
by Matt Waitt [ Thursday, 9th of February 2012 - 05:52 PM ]
With the recent release of The Darkness II, I feel obligated to convince you guys to give this game a shot. I recently had a conference Q&A with the developers of The Darkness II. It was a fun and exciting new experience for me to sit down and listen to what challenges they faced while making the game and what are their personal favorites about the game. The Darkness II takes place two years after the first game, Jackie has gone from a mob hit man to the don of the family. Jackie has had the Darkness subdued for a couple years until he is attacked by an organization called "The Brotherhood" who know all of the Darkness' strengths and its weakness. Read More...

The discussions heat up on these soon-to-be-released games. Will I be convinced? Listen and find out. Not everything is serious business. Read More...

BioShock Infinite's 1999 Mode Makes It Not So Infinite
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 24th of January 2012 - 08:14 PM ]
Maybe it is just me but I find it funny that before when talking about BioShock Infinite the phrase "infinite possibilities" was tossed around and now there is a mode that makes everything worlds more finite. I'm talking about the 1999 mode that has been announced for the game. This mode is more or less another difficulty level like Normal or Hard except that it has one major difference; everything you do is set in stone. At first you might think that is mostly the case from before. You pick up a skill and that is your spec path for the most part with a little branching possible later. Read More...

Aggrocast Episode Ninety One: 2012 Prognostications
by Brian Bentley [ Tuesday, 24th of January 2012 - 05:00 PM ]
2012 is starting off strong here at Aggrogamer with a rousing (and slightly longish) discussion here on the Aggrocast. Corey, Matt and Brian talk about the slew of demos they've played including Kingdoms of Amular: Reckoning, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Warp and The Darkness II. Care / Don't Care has the guys talking about what Brian saw at CES 2012 and Community Spotlight shines on the ECA and their exceptional showing during the recent fight against SOPA. Lastly, the guys wrap up the show with their predictions on where 2012 will go for the gaming industry with a take on Care / Don't Care called I Believe / Make Believe. Then, right before the crew wraps up, Corey throws out for discussion the recent job posting by Blizzard for their next MMO. Read More...

CES 2012: Nyko Gets You Ready For Vita
by Brian Bentley [ Friday, 20th of January 2012 - 10:47 PM ]
With the US release of the PlayStation Vita looming on February 22nd, CES 2012 was buzzing with information about the handheld device. One aspect you may not have considered is about what kind of peripheral hardware will be available to utilize with your PS Vita. I can tell you that Nyko has spent a lot of time considering the needs of the Vita consumer and they have you covered. I stopped by the Nyko booth at CES and found a solid Vita hardware lineup for you to enjoy. First, the item that stood out the most was the Speaker Stand. Read More...

2K's XCOM Has Been Delayed Until 2013
by Fred Buell [ Thursday, 19th of January 2012 - 05:04 PM ]
More or less the title here says it all. XCOM won't be coming out this year unless there is some craziness that happens in the coming 11 months. This could happen, but as of now it does not seem all that likely. I do have to say though, I find this extremely odd given what we've seen over the last two years. At E3 2011 XCOM actually looked like it was in the final stages of alpha testing and would soon be moving into the beta phase. It looked like it handled very well and all of the features that the dev team talked about were implemented extremely well. Read More...

CES 2012 Hands On: Sorcery
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 17th of January 2012 - 11:02 PM ]
Here's a title that was announced when the Move controller was first brought up on the E3 show floor. Since then, there has been very little on Sorcery outside of the recent game play videos. You can only imagine how I felt when I saw that Sony was showing this title off in their gaming section at CES. Finally we got to see how the game has evolved and how it will actually play. Also if it was going to hold up to my anticipations of being a Move game that could actually push the motion controller off of shelves and into use. Read More...

by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 16th of January 2012 - 07:07 PM ]
Talk about a game that has an aptronym. That's a name that describes what it does for those scratching their head there. I Am Alive has survived a near cancelation and multiple delays since it was first announced Darkworks was developing it almost four years ago. It was brought in house to Ubisoft Shanghai and is still very much alive. In fact I got to get all handsie with a demo being shown by the game's director. So let me break down where the game is now from the original announcement. Read More...

CES 2012: Sony Wants You To Go 3G
by Brian Bentley [ Saturday, 14th of January 2012 - 12:53 AM ]
During CES this year, Sony made more than a few announcements to entice users to not only purchase a PlayStation Vita, but for them to invest the extra $50 and spring for the 3G model. For the unfamiliar, the 3G data will be provided by AT&T. Ever since Sony announced the 3G version at E3 2011, there have been more than a few skeptics as to how useful a 3G version would be. I am of the opinion that Sony heard the cries of their constituents and worked with AT&T and their other partners to attempt to make the 3G model appealing. Here is a list of factors that may have you thinking about going 3G. Read More...

Asura's Wrath Demo Is Out Now
by Matt Waitt [ Friday, 13th of January 2012 - 03:19 PM ]
Have you guys tried the demo to Asura's Wrath yet? If not, what are you waiting for? This new IP from Cyber Connect 2 and Capcom features some of the most epic fights I've seen in my life thus far. The demo only features two levels early on in the game, but holy crap they are intense. The first boss fight pits you against a gigantic stone god that resembles a bit like Buddha; words are exchanged and a flood of quick time and button mashing events ensue that are sure to get your heart rate skyrocketing. After falcon-punching this god's face a few dozen times, he apparently activates his beast mode and jumps up into the sky. Next we encounter this boss, he has grown - a lot. Read More...
